- In this video, I answer the question, what is a Project Roadmap? And I also look at why we use them, how they differ from a Gantt Chart, and how to create a Roadmap.
A project roadmap is a visual overview of the project’s goals, benefits realization, major work streams, and key milestones, presented on a timeline.
It is a strategic tool, so can also include other things that help create a high-level understanding of your project. So, you may also include things like resources, risk, dependencies, and deliverables.

If we change the roadmap in middle of development, even if we consider the delay or changes as genuine. How can client accept those changes as he or she will be of a point that the roadmap must have been prepared considering all the factors
Good question. My answer is that you consult the client and discuss the issues before negotiating the change to the roadmap. If they are paying, they get a say. Unilaterally changing the roadmap is disrespectful at best and, at worst, may be a breach of contract and end you up in a formal dispute.
