  • One of the most common issues with fish finders on boats and kayaks is sun glare. It can be extremely frustrating to be looking for fish or structure only to be greated with overwhelming sun glare. In this video I show you how to make a fish finder sun visor using Kydex. The entire project took just about an hour from start to finish. You don't need to buy an expensive shield for glare when this video will show you how to make your own DIY sun visor. All products materials shown in this video are linked below if you'd like to make an identical visor for your unit.

Just find a meal prep container that fits cut the back out and you can use the lid which you can still see through a bit cover if it starts raining or just to keep it out of the elements while out and about.
No need to heat bend just measure twice cut the back out and Velcro it to the back edge drill 3 small holes for air flow for condensation on the bottom. Takes about 10 minutes

Glad I could help! That velcro will hold it on in the worst winds and even on a capsize with no issues. Just get it in there nice and tight.

Hi Rich, That's a nice sun visor. My friend caught two keeper fluke last week at Corson's Inlet. June is usually a good month for fluke at Corson's. Take care and good luck, Mickey

Question fisherman on a budget here . I thought the smart fishing tides was a free site to use ? It seems it is not any more unless I am missing something? Locale jersey boy who fishes a lot from shore and from my 14 ft aluminum boat. I love that site but i can not seem to access it anymore. Really helped my step up my game since i do not have a fish finder/chartplotter.

Hey, great question! Smart fishing tides was previously free to the public, however due to rising costs on 5/1/21 Salt Strong has brought it back to a private site for its Insider Members only. I really do suggest you take a look at Salt Strong and consider joining. I have been a member there for years and you get access to a lot of courses and get a 20% discount on tackle they sell through their shop. You can also cancel for a full refund up to 365 days after you join. Here is the link to join: bit.ly/3yU8jmB If you do sign up, give me a shout in the community area!
