    Nelson Riddle (1921-1985) was an American arranger, composer, and orchestra leader who is perhaps best known for his work with some of the biggest names in music during the mid-20th century. He worked with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, and Linda Ronstadt, among others.
    Riddle began his career as a trombonist and arranger for various big bands, including those of Tommy Dorsey and Charlie Spivak. In the 1950s, he began working with Frank Sinatra and became his go-to arranger for many of his albums, including "Songs for Swingin' Lovers!" and "Come Fly with Me." He also worked with other notable singers, such as Ella Fitzgerald and Judy Garland.
    In addition to his work as an arranger, Riddle also composed music for films and television, including the theme for the TV series "Route 66" and the score for the film "The Great Gatsby."
    Throughout his career, Riddle won numerous awards, including 11 Grammy Awards and an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score for the film "The Great Gatsby." He is considered one of the most important arrangers and conductors of the 20th century, and his influence can still be heard in contemporary music today.

    In October of 85' I was seventeen and had always loved Nelson Riddle! He died when I was in boarding school in Westbrook Conn. And had Finished the third collaboration album with Linda Ronstadt When You Wish Upon a star! I was saddened and shocked when he passed!
