  • "Ping Pong Percussion" is an album by Chuck Sagle and his Orchestra, released in 1961 by Epic Records. The album is a collection of jazz and pop standards, interpreted in a space-age, easy listening style with an emphasis on percussion. The album's title comes from the prominent use of ping pong balls as a percussion instrument on many of the tracks.
The album features songs such as "Who's Sorry Now," "The Sheik of Araby," "When the Saints Go Marching In," and "High Society." The arrangements are playful and upbeat, with a strong sense of rhythm and a fun, lighthearted vibe. The album reflects the popular space-age pop trend of the era, which combined futuristic sounds and styles with more traditional pop and jazz elements.

Wow! I can't believe how many of these tunes have been rattling around in my head for over 60 years! Amazing how the human mind tucks these little charms away.

This was the very first stereophonic album I bought when I received a Webcor Stereo Phonograph as a teenager in 10th grade. So impressive were the depth and percussion effects' separation. Listening to this again is such a nostalgic trip!
