The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was a good movie. I'll never understand why it wasn't more popular. It had a great cast (in spite of Stuart Townsend although he was great as an arrogant, condescending a-hole) it was a cool story. I really liked it.
John Carter and the Golden Compass were really good popcorn movies, but unfortunately they cost too much to make and they were badly received. I don't have an opinion upon the Mila Kunis movie 🎥.
Hahaha I was just about to leave my own comment saying I really enjoyed Jupiter Ascending and John Carpenter but then I saw yours so I decided to just leave a reply here saying I agree with you! Ps: Really don't know why not many people like those 2 movies, because I love it. Never seen Golden Compass though so I can't comment on that one.
Golden Compass "flopped" because the foreign distributors were not obligated to share their profits with the USA distributors; When one considers that the film made approximately 80% of its profits in Europe and the rest of the world then it's easy to see why it was profitable and unsuccessful in equal measure. It cost 180,000,000 plus 100,000,00 in advertising and grossed only 70,000,000 in the USA. It grossed 302,000,000 in other territories. It needed to gross 450,000,000 million to make a profit.
Will Hollywood ever learn, if you buy the rights to a famous book series, base it on the book and Do not make major changes It amazes me how much money some of these cost, but john carter is now a cult film, ive seen it its not that bad !!!
The only problem with your John Carter assessment is that Hollywood is so inept at creating anything new nowadays and so reliant on old IP that is forgotten that they are talking about a reboot/sequel to this show. They never learn. And just look at all the failed shows this past year where they dredged up old IP to make shows nobody cared about.
The only issue I have with this vid is the constant use of Rotten Tomatoes for a reference, that site is well known for presenting misleading audience and critical scores.
All the greatest flops happened in 2024, the Mummy was never a flop or the LOEOGentlemen, and John Carter, they become cult classics and they earned money, not the expected amount but they have no losses.
I loved the mummy of 2017, as well as I Frankenstein, and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Golden Commass was ok. I wonder what was wrong with the rest of the movie going public?
If you grew up in the 80s you no doubt saw the nauseatingly numerous promos for Remo Williams: the Adventure Begins (1985). The title alone obviously suggests Franchise- Part 1! Despite a massive (annoying!) campaign Remo Williams did poorly with critics and ticket buyers .Even video rentals couldn't result in a "Remo Williams: the Adventure Continues"...!
And let's not forget BUCKAROO BANZAI, from about the same time, which teased a sequel at the end (BB vs The World Crime League). Now it's rightly regarded as a cult masterpiece.
Buckaroo Banzai, The Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp as Tonto. Van Helsing. I guess if you did ALL the aborted/stillborn franchises, the video would be two hours long!

Agreed. Me too!
Same..even have it DVD
What's wrong with Stuart Townsend? He was great as Dorian Grey!
@@spaceo8568 Me too ✋️
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a guilty pleasure for me.
It made a hundred million dollars so how was it a flop??? I'll take that sort of investment and return ANY DAY.
I liked Golden Compass, John Carter, and Jupiter Ascending.

Golden compass has a remake as a TV series under the title "His Dark Materials"

The flops are nothing. There has been more disasters just in 2024.
Many of these films met their negative costs, and made money. Critic’s didn’t like some of them. Cruse’s films usually suck …

Cruise “Mummy” was trash.

I loved The Golden Compass top
One of these days, they're going to stop trying, and they won't have any more new franchises.
Wonder Woman was supposed to get a third movie.

Nothing would have salvaged the woke Fantastic Four.
I really did like John carter but I would not go to the movies to see it though
If these are failure then what about the crap of 2024 that just cost 300 mil to bring 20?
I can't agree with all the choices
Most of this Movies are good Movies this critics enjoy about flops but they keep running in tv
Watched only the first 30 minutes of Jupiter Ascending. It got convoluted and i lost interest. The SFX was great though.
Buckaroo Banzai, The Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp as Tonto. Van Helsing. I guess if you did ALL the aborted/stillborn franchises, the video would be two hours long!
Your list sucks. Most of those movies are great. Some of them were quite profitable too. You should fact-check before posting. Disliked.
Mostly boring movies
AI crap
Lionsgate is the worst studios in the world
Nope, i frankenstein is a very good movie💁♂️
