  • This is a young collegiate D1 soccer player I've been working with to improve explosive speed and agility. The approach is something I've invested over a decade refining and has proven to be highly successful. It is not recommended that anyone try this without proper guidance. It can be very dangerous if not orchestrated properly and progressively.

This is like watching a life-like version of Rocky vs Ivan Drago Training footage except that person is tested on stamina and agility not on strength. Very awesome.

I tried to run a bit and got 14,8mph, wasnt full speed because I could feel my quads pulling back or kind of cramping (stretch reflex of some sort) when I tried to go faster so I quit early.
I havent tried to run fast in years or even jogged but I bet I could hit some speeds, Did under 15sec 100meters when I was 11 and 10,2sec 60m when I was 10, no running training :)
What would be considered a good speed for a regular gym goer (natural)?

That looks intense. I am glad she is wearing a harness. Is this overspeed methodology meant to increase reaction time and agility? Without a treadmill and harness, I can’t image something similar. This workout certainly doesn’t exist in nature.

My track coach used to have us sprint down hill in order to simulate this.

I achieved 16:15 on a treadmill last week, how good is that and what would be the equivalent had I ran outdoor ? I am training for a 5k competition and I do lots of HIIT (3 times a week)

It’s a process. Trying to see how fast you can run isn’t the point. Adaptation to speed over time is.

It's supposed to force your nervous system to react quicker and tap into your fast twitch muscle fibers to activate quicker, the only issue is the treadmill is obviously too fast for her to actually get a proper rep in. There are alot of studies showing that overspeed or nervous system training actually helps alot when it comes to training speed and explosive power.
