You have no idea how sad I was seeing the ending to Eve’s trouble. I was really hoping her and Podley would get meet up again and maybe get together, but no. Podley, being the coward he is, pretends to not remember her despite very clearly remembering who she was. This is not a better love story than Twilight.
I’m I, heartless or something? I did not feel any way about Eve or Bobery’s stories or any kind of sadness and it’s not that big of deal and the Podley hate is so overdone to me imo
12:14 i'm sure if Huey was here, he defintely would have said: "We Could have gotten super ranks earlier if we just reminded you, that you had a POWERFUL CRYSTAL BALL ON THE ATTIC ALL ALONG!?" or something like that
... It's weird, but I do appreciate this... weird consistency, in showing that Podley is just the worst. The most spineless bean I've ever seen, for sure! Makes me shudder to wonder how many broken hearts he's left in his wake - directly, and others, like poor Bobbery. Should get some Bandits to shake the guy down at some point, see how many other letters he's holding onto... On a lighter note, I can't help but find the whole ordeal of the Up Arrow... sort of hilarious, in how weird it is. A whole sidequest just to remind a guy he never got around to opening that box he left upstairs for years. The stars aligning just to say "Hey, you idiot, you said you'd take inventory like, six months ago." In (this particular) Merlon's defense, I *have* bought things, kept them in their boxes, and totally forgotten I've had them for years. Admittedly, things that are more of a household chore, like new filters for a humidifier and things like that, but still. Sometimes a "I'll just get back to that later" turns into something that takes years to remember...
Why is Merlon's attic only reachable by anyone with spontaneous flight? He couldn't bother to make a staircase? To be fair, it would be harder for thieves to brake in.
The question I feel compelled to ask is: why not just have that Up Arrow...y'know, BE the Ultra Stone instead? It's not like they're even really playing up that "oh haha it was just in my ceiling all along whoopsies" joke all that much anyway...
2:229:36 I don't know if you ever found out about this, but it's implied in SPM that the fabled Purity Heart was created *from scratch* and was *divided* into 8 pure hearts. Specifically, by a member of the Ancients named "Merlimbis." (That's what Tippi/Tiptron says when you tattle her stained-glass window in the mirror hall.) So the pure hearts likely weren't created using other characters. But yeah, that would be a potentially funny backstory otherwise.
With how long it took him to leave the attic, I fear that Merlon's house is a House of Leaves/B3313 kind of house. Though he is a wizard, so I guess it's not that unusual.
Amusingly enough, Making Something Up Quick effectively has Mario tell her the uh actual real truth about how Podley feels I guess uh Mario did not notice Podley taking the mask off like canonically or something well uh, not in my playthroughs because I have Maleo catch him in the act with Hammer bonks and Yossy speeds And in your playthrough you just kill him before Mario sees through the lie which is comedy gold
so yeah mario gains an arrow that just never points in any direction other than up which when shown to merlon, he has a paradox where he remembers Super Merlon Bros. (The Lost Crystals, 2, and 3), Paper Merlon 64, Paper Merlon: The Thousand Year Attic, and Super Paper Merlon, which loops back to present day ...and then remembers he just had to press up on his d-pad to obtain a permanent upgrade he missed Great Story! 10/10!
0:36 To be fair, it's not strictly Flurrie's theme as that's the one which plays when she becomes your partner (and is funnily enough one of the few already in the original) - you could say it's the theatrical and now musical stage theme. 2:09 Birds of a feather although Podley is way, way worse than Eve as shown by the Bobbery matter first and now this. 4:48 Most likely nothing just because the Pianta syndicate knows that the Robbos don't have Bob-ombs among their ranks and they're too poor to hire one. 8:33 Absolutely had it coming and even more so by Bobbery's hand - er, explosion! 9:27 Much better than the usual, boring coins and even more so since I think it gets added to the list of recipes if you haven't already cooked it at least in the remake. 10:08 I guess he moved to Keelhaul Key as soon as Mario and co. came back from it and for some reason (maybe for treasure?) he immediately sprinted to Pirate's Grotto - as for how he managed to send his request to the Trouble Center, I'm more and more convinced that they can do so by e-mail. 11:56 Unless it's forced to point up because of magic just like a magic compass (no, not in the same sense as Luigi's). 12:15 At least here unlike in 64 we get to know how Merlon managed to put it in his attic. 16:05 Yeah, seriously doubt this is intentional, but good thing it is! By the way, you have to be careful with the hammer as you can accidentally hit the block you're standing on with it as I unfortunately know from experience - good thing there was still the right block left (pun intended)!
11:13 I don't get it either. In fact, that description tricked me into thinking that you were meant to take it to Luigi. Especially since, you know, his book series.
Funny I’m literally doing the same side quest on my 2nd save file right now at the start of the video Edit: So now knowing what happens when you tell her something fake (because I didn’t care and just clicked tel, the truth the first time) it seems nothing really changes but it honestly feels like the better option CLEARLY Podley does have feelings for her still and greatly regrets doing things he did (and I bet with everyone else things had happened to him) but FOR SOME reason that’s not part of the tell the truth option, but I guess Mario just can’t tell it’s that obvious but whatever if telling her a lie is what really gets the true meaning out for Podley then I’m fine with it tbh
It’s possible to get all 3 shine sprites in the room with the Spunia without needing the ultra boots. You need to get on top of the left or right shine block and either use Koops or the hammer. Koops is probably the safer option. It is difficult to get on those blocks but it can be done. Saves a post chapter 6 trip.
8:54 That’s My Problem, Literally you can tell Podley is just pretending because he’s a coward you could’ve y’know literally still said he was faking it and just being in “I’m just not happy” mood but nooo 16:11 Wish past me didn’t instantly do wrong thing and then had to get the Ultra Boots later, not that it was frustrating just wish I seen the obvious

Podley seems like a guy with awful morals between this trouble and the letter fiasco
But is this worse than Rent-A-Girlfriend?

Well, worse by circumstances

Huh, I always just used a hammer spin from the moving platform for that one.

I've been looking forward to the upcoming episode ever since the series started
7:00 Bobbery: "Am I a joke to you, mate?"
3:43 I like to imagine that by "it," he's referring to the room's reward item RNG and not the room itself.
can we acknowledge Mario's fluidity at 15:09 to 15:34?
