As a Falcons fan, I love the pick. I wanted him before they took him. I was just hoping another team would want to trade with us (Minnesota) and maybe get him around 11, and wanted to use Minnesota’s 23rd pick for a defensive player because, as a FAN, I watched film on all of the top defensive players at edge, LB, and Corner, and not ONE defensive player made me feel the way I did when I saw Micah Parsons at Penn St. I would MUCH rather gamble on a QB that COULD be great, than use a high pick on an edge rusher that is no better than what you already have on the roster.

I think thats what hapened with Falcons draft room. No one of the defensive side wowed them at that pick and they couldn't pass up an NFL ready QB.

i have to make two comments because one must be for kirk cousins. captain kirko chains has not only failed to elevate the fair amounts of talent for the Washington teams he's played for. in minnesota he entered a ready made offense with stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. he was choosey enough to run Stefon out of town. he never even peaked stefons production, they were playing in the NFC this whole time btw, not the afc stacks this whole entire decade if were being real, we've had to deal with him for a decade and in that entire time, he's given us a 1-4 record in the playoffs and the moment the lights were brightest, he lost to giants team who was picking in the top 10 the next year, with the ball in his hands. no one likes being mean about it, but kirks earned every ounce of criticism he's gotten and he's been paid far too fairly to take it. he's made a career for himself. he fought his way to be a vet. all the credit in the world to him for that, i know most coaches in the league respect his game. to sit here and pretend, like his presence significantly elevates anything, like fans arent stupid. in totality he's done nothing worth note and he's just flat out not worth what he's being paid ever. i don't get how that's debatable, he's been the highest paid player of every team he's played on since he first entered the market. the expectations is far above the bare minimum that he's given and he never meets high standards. as far as i'm concerned did the smart thing with him that anyone needs to do with him when you deal with him. handcuff him.

Cousins will most likely go down as the best overly paid guy to never go to the Super Bowl. Good on him for cashing in and continually making teams think he’s “the guy”

Cousins is really underrated and unfairly criticized in my opinion. What team has he played on in his career that people thought they were the best team or had a chance at winning a Super Bowl.

@@SimmsComplete well ironically or sadly the best one may have been last years Vikings in which both he and JJ are out most of the season. So much of being an elite QB seems to be the luck of injuries and having a team that can stay healthy all the way till playoffs. How Brady and company did it is beyond me.

Penix i've been perplexed and admittedly i don't always love lefties but like they're rare so thats hard to criticize. i let that issue go if the league itself is comfortable with it. it's just annoying to watch from a far in most cases and welcomes a lot of undo criticism given how hard it is to coach. all of that pushed to the sideline i still don't know what to make of him. i'm like, is he left handed Doug Williams? i've almost never seen Doug Williams play. i don't even know why i'm saying that, but i feel like, he doesn't have that thing Caleb and Jayden have, that everyone loves about them where, the motion and mechanics process isn't repeatable consistently and no two throws are the same with him and from that perspective, i felt like it's lowkey actually smart to stash him the way the falcons are because he's less ready to play than people think and granted there's a lot of room to grow but like the only reason people consider him ready to play for sure is because of his age. When the reality is he has a lot of things to clean up and i'm just lost, i get why teams like him, i just don't see where they think skillset wise there's a clear path to success vs say a Joe Milton by comparison, who it's sacrilege to say Michael Penix has the most special arm strength in this draft and i'm not sure i have the right perspective but like, for example i didn't see a 5 round gap between those two traits wise and i wonder what i'm missing.
