- Join me for the this guided cruise port tour of Port Chalmers, New Zealand. Port Chalmers has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century, when it was established as a trading and fishing port. The town was named after the Scottish theologian Thomas Chalmers, and has a strong Scottish heritage that is still evident today. Port Chalmers is home to a number of historical landmarks, including the Dunedin Chinese Garden, which was built in the late 19th century to honor the town's early Chinese settlers. The town is also home to a thriving arts community, with a number of galleries, studios, and performance spaces showcasing the work of local artists. Overall, Port Chalmers is a charming and vibrant town that offers something for everyone.
A portion of this trip was paid for by Holland America Line.

As someone who grew up in Dunedin, I never thought I'd see you in my town! I have always been wary of what the cruise passengers feel about these small places far away, and was very nervous watching because we just don't have the dedicated tourist infrastructure places with larger populations can provide. Thank you for your sweet open minded nature and now I finally have some videos I can link my friends in the States to so they can see what its like over here
Good day Tony!!! I can’t thank you enough for sharing your vacation with us. New Zealand is on our bucket list and you have moved it to the forefront of our vacations. Thanks again and enjoy.
I also love looking around supermarkets in other countries. So many different things or named differently
Try the L&P, it is awesome!
I am glad I watched this video twice . My wife wanted to watch . I googled Port Chalmers and saw a population of 1,440 people . We loved the older low rise buildings . Thanks for sharing 🙏
Thanks for the video. I always love these kind of meandering videos to get a full feel of a place. ❤️
My home town near on 40yrs and has changed so much for tourism but the old buildings are still there. Hope you enjoyed your stay in my part of the world
Just disembarked from the ovation of the seas last Wednesday after a great 12 night trip to New Zealand. Weather was great and seas were calm the whole time.
When you got to the zebra crossing and commented it was a steep incline, had you walked up it for 10 minutes, you could have popped in for a coffee! :D Nice video to share with family who live overseas, cheers
Port Chalmers is a very clean town. Thanks for the walkabout. CA is getting 10 to 15 in of rain a d 48" of snow. Girl im gonna warn you, it never rains in CA.
I love the walk through on the grocery store
Random wanderings in other countries for the win! My absolute favorite thing to do. Only 12 min in..can't wait for all the content coming our way in the comming week.

The Cadberry factory in Dunedin is to die for
That's now gone- the land it was on is now being used to build a new hospital
Love your vlogs! I really enjoyed seeing everything, especially the supermarket!

That church is spectacular from the ship in the street and just adds magic to a little town

Great tour of the town. I like going in grocery stores in other countries. Thanks
I'm so happy you stopped to look at the dog. That's what I do when I'm out and about 🤣 distracted by cute dogs!
We went into dunedin, then looked around port charmers, its just a I remember has but changed 4 years later.. Just booked ovation for 2024, miss this place.
thanks for the great blog tomorrow.
It is so enjoyable...this is so very very appreciated...you guys get along so well and it is just so exciting and calming...supporting real people on interesting things,,,Love UA-cam and your channels...be well...I love this little town.
Great video. Really enjoyed seeing the food and food prices. My wife and I are food scientists, and we love that information. However, the appearance of the hair on the spinach pastry (on the fork) was a little troubling.
And hopefully it was his.
But great video !!
Thanks again guys for a tour of a country that I will never be in….hope you enjoyed your stay in New Zealand.
Great grocery. All the shelves are well stocked.
thank you for this.....now I know what the port looks like...am on Noordam in this port on November 19th....helps alot!
❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️Thank You for sharing
Loved the grocery store part. That is something I love to do when I travel. And it looks like milk is easy to find in New Zealand. In some countries, like Israel, it is challenging. Thank you for the tour.
Haha...I do that, too. I like to see how other parts of the world do their everyday stuff like groceries and gas station.
NZ produces some of the finest dairy on the planet.
@@AUmarcus looking forward to visiting New Zealand and enjoying the products. Hope to do soon.
@@Maililnajul
Tasmania just as good dairy, Australia mainland a close 2nd.
So happy for you that you finally got some sunshine on the cruise!
As someone that grew up in Dunedin, I have no idea how you could make an entire video about Port Chalmers...but here we are! There used to be a great bakery on the right as you walk up, didnt see it there but its been a few years, highly recommend trying the meat pies, my favourite is steak and cheese.
Great looking day there doesn’t look so go where you are now.
Enjoy Tony and Don😊
Thanks for the grocery store tour. Now I'm hungry lol. Enjoy your day!
Good to know! Headed there in January 2025
Thanks for all the updates! We are cruising a similar itinerary late Dec. 2023 and this is very helpful as far as weather and what to pack…..seems a lot like early summer Alaska. Can’t wait!!
Very pleased to see NZ has Tim Tams.
Thank you Tony, enjoying this series. Been to Australia but not New Zealand🚢😊
What a amazing tour Tony and Don thank you both for amazing walk tour. I know I will never be able to walk like that.. I had a stroke. Use a scooter now and I am able to walk some. Beautiful picture of your trip. I enjoyed watching you both. I feel like I am with you both on tours. God bless
I love unusual chip flavors, like chicken!
After watching your walk I'm seriously considering bringing roller blades next cruise
Great video pal. Yes both my wife & said, OMG there’s a hair, your first bite of pie, girl who served you, she had long hair.
Hey Tony we are on our way to Galveston to get on the Dream tomorrow for our first 6 day cruise to Cozumel with my 80 year old Mother and my 79 year old Aunt we are so excited. .I love your videos
Have a great cruise!
Yay! Off for another adventure with Tony and Don!! 😊
Enjoying watching your experiences! I’ll be there in 2 weeks!!
We’re keeping up with your cruise and very excited to see what we’ll be seeing beginning 1 year and 3 days from today. We have 6 b2bs on the Carnival Splendor from Sydney in January and February. We scour UA-cam looking for videos like this. Love the cruise port free Wifi! You’re providing EXACTLY the type of information we’re looking for - perfect job Tony!
Enjoy your visit to Australia. I did the Splendor transpacific in September 2022 then the next 7 cruises. Wonderful trip.
Do I see sunshine 🌞??.. I do I do I do ..
Pie looked delish hair and all!
I saw that too! Made my husband rewind it to make sure
Way too thick for a hair. Would be a spinach stem.
No hair in the pie. Sprouts or something.
Great work Tony, lovin the content brother!!!!
Have you been to Dunedin, Florida? Pretty little town on the water, southwest of Springhill! Thank you for taking us along this trip!
Good morning!
In New Zealand, buy Whittaker chocolate.I am sure they sell it in America, but not sure where. This brand is wonderful.
So happy your sharing these videos Tony. Especially from a cruise itinerary and ship that we don't usually see on cruise vlogs. But leave it to me to notice a hair in the food🤦🏼♀️ Sorry😬 But hey. That means your videos are definitely clear. 🤷🏼♀️ won't be specific though. Lol but I did pause and zoom in. ANYWAY!!☺️ Looking forward to mire videos. Hope Dony, (get it, Don and Tony 😉) in the future are having fun. 👍
P.S. maybe it was just a dry thin piece of crust or something 🤐
❤️@La Lido Loca 😬 I see you read m comment before recording the latest news. 😞 sorry
Loved how you both focused on the food, when so much is available on the ship. I liked Port Chalmers when we visited in 2018, I remember the pharmacy in the Main Street and I found a Memorial to Scott of the Antarctic who had sailed from the port to Antarctica.
Tony, you were so close to the king of chocolate! Had me drooling being an English ex pat living in Texas , cadburys galore!!!!
Cadbury's closed in Dunedin. We saw the abandoned factory.
Whittakers is the New Zealand Chocolate to look for.
G'day Tony I just saw there was a hair in your pie at 29:00 and you ate it,
Thank you for the great showing of Port Chalmers. Looks like a great little port town.
Awe, you guys should have picked some up! The Australians/New Zealander's do something called a TimTam Slam. You get a cup of Hot Chocolate, and a Tim Tam, and you dip the TimTam in the hot choco, using it as a straw. Once the TimTam is saturated you then eat it! It is a fun little thing to do in the winter.
Hey Hey Hey...Looks really nice...I still couldn't find the "copyright infringement".
He removed or changed whatever part that was flagged...and reposted.
It was going into the terminal, had to chop out about 30 seconds.
Excellent job, really makes me feel as if I'm right there with you. Thanks for sharing!
Reminds me of mega mart in cozumel! But better!
Beautiful day finally... looks like a real quiet town..not to many tourist...
🙏🏻❤️😃👍🏻
I love this kind of video! You’re doing exactly what I would do.
quite a long video, but i like the stabilizer for your camera, awesum. thanku... 🌅😎🎉👆🙏🛳️
Here's Tony with all the updates.
Thanks so much for your videos. I'm doing the exact same cruise in February!
Thx for the video. The town looks like a fun place to roam around. I do wish you had noticed that hair in your pastry before you ate it 😢
I enjoyed the walking tour! Keep them coming
Love the walking 🚶♀️ tour, especially grocery store
Looks more like summer you must be traveling north,
Thank you! How fresh was the air, it looked totally unspoiled and clean.😊
Protocol in the cafe, just leave your dishes as they are organised to collect. if you try and help by taking them up to the counter they are not usually prepared, so leave them and give a big thank you if it was good
If you two go on a snack hunt again, look for the Fried Chicken flavored Pringles. I only saw them at the Sydney Airport but Australians have told me you can get them anywhere.
The reason for all the George streets is King George VI, from 1936 until his death in 1952.
Can’t believe ur in a grocery store SHOPPING !!!! Lol
Just saw this, we are going on a 40 day Nordam October 2025 out of Seattle. Interesting
Hi Tony! Great to see you in New Zealand! We were invited on this Noordam Press Trip but instead we're coming over to Aus/NZ in a few weeks instead to try the Noordam so watching your videos closely for info and tips. :D Have a great time and shame we missed meeting you! :D
We walked that same route back in November, 2022 except you missed stopping at the excellent little museum plus we walked up the hill past the church to the excellent rhododendron garden located in a former quarry. We also took the bus into Dunedin. Thanks for the glimpse into Port Chalmers.
Good morning Tony
Mornin’
You missed the Cadbury’s caramel choc bar at the end cap of the snack aisle - best there is
