lol did yall forgot makos been lightening bending since book 1 😂 it was his job at the start for the power plant, then against Amon, then against that mechanic machine when he reflected it back. He always seems to use it most during season finales :)
It's just funny because of his reaction, it's like he is thinking how dumb he was for not doing that a long time ago when fighting her since she always needs water connected to her to function her water bending, it's like he was thinking, "omg im stupid af for not doing this sooner." LMAO
If you guys can recall, back in ATLA when Aang was unlocking the chakras, one of the trials he went through was for him to let go of his love for Katara, because Love is considered a worldly desire.
That was also how Korra saved the world during Harmonic Convergence. She had to let Mako go in order to bend the energy within herself. She was only able to let him go after regaining her memory in the tree of time. That's also why they broke up at the end of season 2, it's cuz she had accepted letting him go to save the world.
@@sarahw4819because he's not doing that for himself, he believes what he does is a good thing for everyone, so from his POV it's already a selfless act

1000% It is probably my favorite scene of both series. Zahir made such an interesting villain, and he took a huge toll on Korra that seeing her in that state made her feel so human.
That last fight between Korra and Zaheer always gives me chills. She was tossing mountains at him while fighting off poison I really love her character.
You know I use to hate on Korra. All her mistakes or the way she reacted to each situation. But looking at this again… I feel take back all the negative stuff I thought of her. Sure she rushes in without thinking, but she didn’t have avatar guidance, she was fighting bigger villains then any other avatar and she just fought with fighting poison. She is strong.

- People have suspected that the poison is mercury, which is very damaging and the symptoms are consistent with the effects of mercury. - Korra was in pure survival mode in her final fight, not rage I think. - The end is so bittersweet, and Korra's feelings must be so complex. By telling her that the airbenders will be there to cover her role, Tenzin is unknowingly reinforcing the idea that she is not needed. That is a lot of the reason why she cries. - I love how, even as sad and broken as she is, she still smiles when the kids jump on her. She truly loves them. - As everyone has said....this definitely isn't the first time Mako has bent lightning.
P'li's death was the final straw for Zaheer to let go of his worldly desires (because she was his love) so he can "enter the void" and unlock the ability to fly
Mako did lightning bending in one of the first episodes of the show, where he worked in a power plant alongside a bunch of other fire benders generating electricity.
The Earth Queen's fate ties into one of my favorite fan theories. Basically the theory is that Monk Gyatso pulled a similar trick when the Air Temples were attacked, suffocating the Fire Nation soldiers, but also himself in the process.
Just made me realize... The Live action trailer had that shot of firebenders attacking the Western Air Temple; could you imagine if we got to see Monk Gyatso's last stand when that comes out?
Legend of Korra got so dark compared to all the past stuff and it is so unbelievably good. Imagine a more “adult” version of avatar. We could get some good stuff.
The kyoshi books are more adult than both shows (its still young adult though) if you haven't checked them out. It can be alot more graphic with it's depictions of violence and death
People often forget how badass Tenzin is. It makes sense he would be, though: 1- he was taught by Aang, who was in touch with all previous avatars. 2- He got Aang's full attention since there were no other Airbender students at the time. 3- no one Tenzin fights has ever fought an Airbender before. (Like being a boxer and facing a left-handed boxer for the first time in your life and the southpaw is also the heavyweight champ)
Don’t know if anyone noticed, but Korra’s final move on Zaheer was dragging him back down to the ground with chains, whether that was with metal bending or not, it’s great symbolism
It was mentioned by Zaheer ,who was a big fan of Guru Laghima, how Guru Laghima learned how to be untethered from the world by letting go of all his worldly desires. Letting go of all his worldly desires allowed him to unlock the airbending ability of flight. He spent the last 40 years without ever touching the ground. From the wiki - "Following P'Li's death, Zaheer was able to let go of his final earthly tether, unlocking the ability of flight on top of Laghima's Peak. As a result, the guru's abilities were no longer dismissed as legends." Guru Laghima was the only airbender to ever achieve flight until Zaheer. It was just seen as a legend
Mako definitely did a bunch of lightning bending back in season 1 for sure. Remember when he got a job at the power plant, shooting lightning into a giant capacitor? He also used it a couple of times in one of the car chases. And he used it against mecha tanks in ep 10 and in the finale, to get away from Amon.
Its easy to forget since he doesnt use it very often, but he also doesn't need to use it very often so it makes sense. Even Mako himself has an expression after he does it like "I can't believe I didn't think about that till now"
When Bolin turns to try and bend the lava for the first time, it breaks my heart every time. He doesn’t think or know he can do it. His face is set, he has accepted he will probably die.
Glad you guys caught the Kuvira line. She's voiced by Zelda Williams (Robin Williams' daughter). She popped up a bunch in the background at the metalbending city, recognizable by her mole beneath her right eye. She was even one of the dancers in Suyin's wire ballet class. This was all to set her up for next season so don't forget her.
Besides Tenzin being taught by the avatar Ang himself, Zaheer was facing an air bender for the first time. Also Tenzin's whole family and Ang's legacy was on the line. I don't think Tenzin would get better of him like that if there had been a rematch.
Zaheer facing an airbender for the first time is irrelevant in this case because the same can be said for every other opponent he faced. I even think every other member of the red lotus could take him.
Ten Zin can absolutely take Zaheer in this fight. It you watch Ten Zin can tank air attacks like it was a light breeze. Zaheer knew it and he was running evading buying time for the Red Lotus to get together and take him
God the end of ep13 is so heartbreaking. I felt so bad for Korra I almost teared up when she cried. You can just feel how defeated she feels even when its such a happy occasion. Korra's story isn't about her being the Avatar, its about being a person like any other constantly faced with obstacles no one person should be required to face alone but is expected to.
Mako & Bolins parents were an earthbender & a fire bender so it makes sense that Bolin could unlock the ability to “lava bend”. Also, Mako has been lightning bending since Book 1. We saw him working at the power plant to make some extra cash.
Pretty sure fire bending has NOTHING to do with lava bending though, that it’s derivative of earth bending and earth bending only. (But I suppose there could’ve additional info about it released in the comics or something that links both fire & earth bending to lava that I’m just unaware of. If not though, then there’s been 0 link/connection between fire bending & lava bending…)
Lavabending is an enhanced form of earthbending, it has nothing to do with firebending. The creators already confirmed it. I always hated that Bolin learned to lavabend. It’s stated to be an incredibly rare skill, yet some random earthbender develops the skill with no practice. Zuko had to practice redirecting lightning before he could do it, and he’s not special like Toph who was able to learn metalbending due to her seismic sense, allowing her to feel the bits of earth in her metal cage.
The moment with Suyin coming in clutch with her armor is one of my favorite parts to see people react to for the first time. It’s literally mind blowing.
As powerful as Korra was in books 1-3, seeing her broken in the finale of book 3 is a good thing. Zaheer was a great villain.Looking forward to book 4 reaction.
Mako even abused lightening in past books, strange that you guys forgot it because in comments there was little arguing about how easy he did it comparing to Zuko who was learning it only at age 17
I noticed a lot of reviewers forget Mako has lightning cause rarely uses it. He only does a handful of times plus they watch so much shit I bet a lot gets lost a bit
iirc zuko never actually learned to bend lightning, he could just redirect it, but never actually make it. it's probably like metalbending as in not all firebenders can do it. zuko just wasn't one of them.
Kya is an incredibly talented waterbender - taught by Katara! I really appreciated seeing her battle Ming Hua in order to see the difference in fighting styles.
I think the problem is that in this season Mako didnt use lightning because in their fights he couldnt do it without friendly fire. In Zaofu he was in the middle of a crowd of geared up metalbenders so he might have hurt someone. When fighting at Misty Palms he was trying not to get stabbed and then Bolin was in the water.
Hands down, Korra's book 4 journey of healing from PTSD (as we see her struggling with so deeply here) is hands down the best portrayal of survival with trauma in a children/teen show I've ever seen. It's all built up to this, the dangers she's been in and dealing with the end of the avatar cycle, the rips and pulls against her soul. I can't wait to go on the book 4 journey with ya'll.
Same. I didn’t understand what was going on with her in season 4 when I was younger, and as a teen couldn’t relate to or maintain interest in the more mature themes (politics, Korra’s mental health, etc.). But as an adult-who conveniently has PTSD, rewatching the show has me really appreciating how well they show the struggles of mental illness and trauma. Especially how memories of the events can cause physical pain.
I love that when Kai turns up on the baby bison, Tenzin’s first words out of his mouth are “You’re alright”. He is so relieved to see one of his airbending students alive.
Guys, at this point, Mako had used lightning at least a half dozen times. Hell he used it at least 3 or 4 times in Season 1. He also used it against Unalaq in Season 2.
@@Bait154 In general though, all throughout ATLA we were always made to believe that lightning was (more or less) “1 hit = 1 kill”. So seems they reckoned it a bit in LOK.
@@Austin.Kilgore They retconned a lot with lightning that annoyed me. In ATLA lightning was an incredibly rare, and powerful skill that only members of the royal family knew, but yet in less than 100 years later it’s just a random blue collar job.
The moment when Tenzin says "As long as I am breathing, it's not over." Makes me tear up every single time, it hits my feels SO hard. Tenzin is such an amazing character.
Yeah, and they let him take his beating with dignity, but then show every bit of Korra in pain, and agony while being poisoned. They let other characters take their beatings with dignity, but the creators have a weird obsession of showing every second of Korra in pain.
Happy New Year everyone! Bolin finding out that he's a lava bender is one of my favourite moments from the whole series. Maybe it's because I like Ghazan and his ability, and Bolin, so I got both things combined. 😁The way how Pli was taken out, was also so well done. Also, Tenzin vs Zaheer was the air bending fight that I was waiting for since ATLA.
More on what Oak said! The tear at the end when Jinora becomes a master is her realizing that the world doesn't need her. She was told all her life that she was the world's only hope at balance and Tenzin lowkey told her to her face that the Air Nomads would easily take on her duties in her absence. For all her strength and might and courage, even jn the Avatar State she still couldnt defeat Zaheer. Zaheer told her she would be that last Avatar and with the poison still in her it might be true. She feels like a failure and has lost all purpose to who she is. And that sudden shift in tone is something I Iove about S3 & 4.
22:55 Tenzin was mopping the floor with Zaheer 35:23 well Guru Lahima was an Airbender who was able to fly (Avatar lore) it happened hundreds of years ago until Zaheer did it 36:28 that shot 😢 53:56 Aang must be proud 🥲
Jinora looks so much like Aang when they reveal her tattoos and it makes me sob like a baby every time. He would be so unbelievably proud of his grandaughter!
Even prior to him getting Airbending, Zaheer heavily studied the philosophies of Guru Laghima. If you remember, he told either Kaya or Jinora that Laghima reached a level of enlightenment that allowed his airbending to levitate himself and fly. The mountain is also named after him. His last earthly tether was p'Li, and once he lost her, he unlocked it, similar to what Guru Pahtik wanted Aang to do in order to unlock all his chakras and enter the Avatar state at will. Aang refused, and consequently lost the Avatar state
some interesting details: we never got a true fight between Korra and Zaheer because in both their main fights she was severely handicapped. Arms and legs chained up so she can't bend right, then poisoned and dying. She surely would have rocked his shit if she was in full form during any of their fights, seeing how much trouble she was giving him as she was Zaheer was talented of course. He was a problem before getting airbending and nobody really had experience fighting airbenders, both because of the genocide in the 100 year war and their pacifist nature. But with his airbending it's actually fairly basic. Most of it is punches and kicks with blasts of air behind it, like Korra in book 1 when she unlocked airbending against Amon. Also demonstrated further how Zaheer was getting his ass beat by Tenzin, a master, until he got jumped 4on1
I also think it's because we basically know that a full powered Avatar state beats basically anyone down in a 1v1. It would've been too similar to Last Airbender and this showed Korra still kicked absolute ass even she when was practycally fatally poisoned
To be fair, you've seen Kuvira a few times this season whenever the metal bending clan is around she's typically the guard hanging around nearby. They just never named her until this point. I'm pretty sure she is there when Varrick first shows up at the metal bending clan(or maybe it is durig his magnet suit testing?). She's definitely there investigating the debris after the truth teller guy gets found out and escapes. I thought whoever has been editing for you guys knew about her introduction and was subtly highlighting her appearances in your edits, lol
I think the introduction of Kuvira is sloppy, they could have easily given her a bigger role during the time we spent at Zaofu. Suddenly mentioning her name like this felt forced.
The way Korra is so damn strong and powerful they have to handicap her in every single fight just to give her opponent a fighting chance like that’s my girl fr
An interesting thing you guys mention a lot is that our main crew is pretty much peaked in there bending abilities, and I never really thought of that, I always wondered why they never really did a long training arc, but then it hit me, Korra Bolin and Mako are pretty much grown adults at this point in the story, they’ve been training and honing their skills since they were little, so no wonder we never really saw a big training sequences till the fourth season. They’re all pretty much peaked already
Zaheer was on the backfoot for his entire fight with Tenzin. Tenzin is an Airbending master, Zaheer is extremely adept for sure but he's no match for the son of Avatar Aang lol. Like you said The Red Lotus would've been bodied if not for Pi'Li.
Tenzin is just always outnumbered haha, can't recall if he has ever gotten to do a real 1v1 showdown just always mechatanks and multiple people attacking all sides
Man am i so glad im going on this journey with you guys. Season 3 is the best season in legend of korra, personally i like season 2 the most because of avatar wan and ravaa, learning more about the spirits and all that but this season takes the cake on being the best one. The red lotus is so feared
A popular fan theory on why zaheer can fly but no one else can is what they said about detachment. It was common in the past for airbenders to fly like zaheer until they met the air bison. The air bison form bonds for life so when airbenders became attached to them they lost that ability but zaheer is detached from the world so he can fly. Aang never did it because he had appa and his friends. Zaheer doesn’t really care about his comrades nor has a airbison friend or anything so he can fly
You might've forgotten with all the things you've been watching, its also been a while since the last time you saw him do it, but Mako was shown to be capable of lightning bending as early as episode 4 in season 1. He's also used lightning bending in every season finale so far. ^^ Its still very deadly, so he doesn't use it in combat very often. He did just kill Ming Hua with it, because she had him cornered and forced his hand.
Good reacting boys big fan! To give you guys some context, When korra was fighting Zaheer in the avatar state remember that’s her strength ALONE with no past lives which is awesome! Get ready for book 4 because it’s good as well. !
I've watched dozens of reactors (and some of them are very good) but you guys are easily my favorite! I haven't even watched this one yet, I just felt like letting you know. Keep up the good work, and thanks for the great content!
Mako had a job at the Republic City Power Plant in the first season, where her and the other employees used lightning bending. We also saw in redirect [an electrical current] in the same season against a mech. He ALSO used lightning directly against Amon in the season one finale. I'm sure I must be missing other examples as well. We'll see some more of it in book 4 too.
the thing is i always mention this whenever this season is reviewed, remember the red lotus wanted to do this to korra when she was 4. now this was hard to watch on a 17-18 year old, can you imagine doing this to a 4 year old?
@riel4553 wait are you basing that on when he was talking to Korea in the spiritual world, when he was searching where she was in the real world to capture her and stalling her as much as he could? He was obviously lying to her and he is capable of lying as his plan with the release 9f the airbenders demonstrates. So yes they were going to kill her as a child absolutely
correct me if i’m wrong but isn’t the main reason why Zaheer knows so much about the air nation is because he was supposed to be korra’s airbending teacher
@@doorpig7405 YEAH,, NO TENZIN WAS ALWAYS GOING TO BE KORRA'S AIR BENDING TEACHER, AS HE WAS LITERALLY THE ONLY AIRBENDER WHEN KORRA WAS BORN. SHE HAD NO ONE ELSE TO TEAH HER.
Mako hadn't used lightning since Book 1 because he was not balanced within himself through Book 2 and 3, until he forgave himself for the messy relationships he created with Asami and Korra (Korra hugged him and he finally made peace with the gals and his mistakes). Another layer, Korra who before was so quick to burst into Avatar state, has to for the first time in her life fight tooth and nail to resist and NOT go into avatar state because she and all Avatars will die painfully. Huge mental/psychological backlash :( There's so many layers in everything in this series 😊
Think of Zaheer's Flight as the "special mode" of Airbending that we've slowly been shown for each type of bending throughout the franchise. For Fire; its the Lightning. For Earth; its not metalbending(thats just earthbending on a smaller more precise scale.) it's Lava. For Water; it's bloodbending.
35:13 Imagine Aang letting Katara go back at the end of Book 2 before Azula "technically" killed him. With no attachments holding Zaheer, he becomes free. I mean Monks are supposed to be celibate anyways. Aang said eff that🤣
"When did Airbenders know how to fly...?" "When did Bolin..." NOW! On this episode! They both learned it right now. The episode you're watching. Why the silly questions? 😅
"How does he fly" Listen to the poem he keeps reciting ;) "Let go your earthly tether. Enter the void. Empty and become wind" If you "let go" of everything holding you grounded, such as relationships, worries etc. it's possible for an Airbender to fly
Mako has known how to bend lightning since season 1. They showed him working in the factory bending lightning. I don't blame yall for forgetting he could considering they barely show him doing it
This fly thing was foreshadowing from first episode. Zaheer tell about Guru Laghima to his prison guards. And later he many time say this poem about earthly tethers and becoming wind.
I always love how their whole plan here is "we'll force her into the Avatar state, and then we'll kill her." Classic overconfidence. "We'll just do literally the most dangerous thing anyone could ever do, and bing bang boom! We'll be done before lunch."
What gets me is that it would've worked if he didn't explain the plan to her. She would've gone into the avatar state without resistance. Also, they risked her going into the avatar state before being poisoned.
Because of production they didn't know if they would have another season after book 1 or book 2 so both of those seasons are a bit more self contained just in case. Book 3 and 4 were ordered by Nickelodeon at the same time, which is why they were able to plant a lot more seeds and leave book 3 off with Korra's unresolved trauma. For once they knew they had time.
I have to say that one thing that makes your reactions to this series so much more enjoyable when compared to other reactions is your knowledge of film/tv series/voice actors, etc. I've watched all of your avatar reactions from the original series until now, and I've always enjoyed how you comment on the recognizable voice actors, and the amount of context and additional information that you can provide even from just your first time watching. I'm excited to see you guys react to the next book, and the live action series as well!
Book 4 has to be my absolute FAVORITE. The villain is clever, powerful in skills *and* influence, and becomes a kind of threat you guys probably won’t expect to see in the Avatar universe. The fight scenes are smooth as butter as well, and some great character matchups are coming your way.
I never liked her, and not in a "you not liking her means she is a well wirtten villain" kind of way. I just never liked her, weak story, weak motivation, weak reaosning in the last episode just all around blegh. Worst villain overall imo, lol
About the lavabending, you can think of it in a couple of ways: 1. Bolin's parents were earth and fire benders. It's possible that combination of bending could allow a child of the two to be able to bend something like lava easier. 2. He was put into a really stressful situation and tried to do the same thing he would do when trying to metal bend. He's also encountered that lavabender a couple of times now. The actual practice of trying to bend has shown that it eventually bears fruit, but possibly not in the way you expect. I view that scene no different than when Katara could bloodbend. People's lives were on the line, people she cared about, she had seen the techniques used for bloodbending, and she was practicing different techniques with Hama throughout that episode. It's just that we don't get a single episode of growth here. It's a full season leading up to it.
The fight between Zaheer and Tenzin is a perfect example of the difference usage of airbending. Tenzin has always been an airbender and trained to use airbending at different ranges and different kind of defenses and attacks. Zaheer got airbending and uses it as an extension of his high level martial arts skills and is dangerous at more close ranges. That is why with the use of airbending Zaheer is not on Tenzin's level and why Tenzin was beating him.
Welcome to seeing the ultimate techniques of airbending. Suffocation and flying. Bloodbending might be op but the fact airbending can just say “nope. No more breathing “. Is just more op to me.
It may be Nickelodeon, but we saw the Earth Queen suffocated, P'Li had her head blown off [even if we didn't see it - we saw enough to know] and then we had electrocution and the other guy committing suicide by bringing the mountain down on himself. Not exactly what one expects in a kid's show.....
One thing that is so satisfying no matter how many times I see it, is villains causing massive harm (or attempted harm) to the main character(s) but SEVERELY underestimating what they’re capable of.
I looove how Mason Quinn always butchers the names in this show: Brolin? Mayko? Peeeeelaaaaaay ?? 😅😅😅 Also the sexy eyes you guys make whenever anyone says "Family". It's so funny.
Mako used his electric powers in t he beginning of the show when he worked in a factory as a welder. After Zuko coined lightning bending, it gained in popularity amongst other select firebenders who could use it. It's the same with lava and metal bending, only select earth benders have the ability to use them and it's suggested it's genetic.
This was the first time they were given a green light for both seasons from the beginning. Mako used electricity in the first season, at the power plant. He doesnt seem to use it often, though.
Mako did lightning bending in season one. He just doesn't do it a lot. I don't know if we ever saw him do it in a fight but he used it to earn money when they were trying to raise funds for the championship buyin.
Mako lightning bend back in Book 1 when he was doing the factory work and also to temporarily escape amons bloodbending, he does it again at the end of book 2 vs the evil spirits. Its just we don't see a ton of Mako fights in the series and when we do it focuses more on his firebending. This book and book 4 were annouced together, whereas book 1 and 2 they didn't know if the show would continue, which is why you really see the self contained story in those books, where if they were the final season they would have somewhat satsifying endings. Since they knew they would have another season they were able to complete the Red lotus saga but set up the consequnces of this season to bleed into the next season.
mako has been able to lightning bend the whole time, we see him working at a power plant using lightning to run a generator in the first season when they were trying to make some extra cash, and hes used it a few times since then, he used it to escape amons bloodbending, he used it to break one of the mech suits, and i think he uses it a few other times too but cant think of them specifically.
End of Book 3 and on to the Final Chapter! What was your thoughts on book 3?

1- he was taught by Aang, who was in touch with all previous avatars.
2- He got Aang's full attention since there were no other Airbender students at the time.
3- no one Tenzin fights has ever fought an Airbender before.
(Like being a boxer and facing a left-handed boxer for the first time in your life and the southpaw is also the heavyweight champ)
He was raised and taught by the youngest airbending master (until Jinora) who was also the Avatar
As a result, the guru's abilities were no longer dismissed as legends."
Guru Laghima was the only airbender to ever achieve flight until Zaheer.
The way tenzin was eating zaheer up always brings me joys
Besides Tenzin being taught by the avatar Ang himself, Zaheer was facing an air bender for the first time. Also Tenzin's whole family and Ang's legacy was on the line.
I don't think Tenzin would get better of him like that if there had been a rematch.
Zaheer facing an airbender for the first time is irrelevant in this case because the same can be said for every other opponent he faced. I even think every other member of the red lotus could take him.
Ten Zin can absolutely take Zaheer in this fight. It you watch Ten Zin can tank air attacks like it was a light breeze.
Zaheer knew it and he was running evading buying time for the Red Lotus to get together and take him
Just wanna say, if P'li wasn't on that air ship, he could have taken all three of them by his own
Why do u spell Tenzin's name spaced out?
@@Kanamo4781agreed
It's the difference between a talented amateur and a master. One on one Zaheer wouldn't stand a chance.
Tenzin could’ve taken Zaheer. He just got jumped by multiple people which isn’t fair
It adds layers to her character just as it did when Aang died and came back
Mako even abused lightening in past books, strange that you guys forgot it because in comments there was little arguing about how easy he did it comparing to Zuko who was learning it only at age 17
I noticed a lot of reviewers forget Mako has lightning cause rarely uses it. He only does a handful of times plus they watch so much shit I bet a lot gets lost a bit
@@BlackGirlMarvel Easy to forget when its not treated like anything special too.
iirc zuko never actually learned to bend lightning, he could just redirect it, but never actually make it. it's probably like metalbending as in not all firebenders can do it. zuko just wasn't one of them.
@@doot1doo1 (*earthbenders)
ig you could say "just redirecting" is a beginner level of bending it
@@BlackGirlMarvelI don’t think he used it much in fighting or t least not in book 2 so a lot of ppl forget
Kya is an incredibly talented waterbender - taught by Katara! I really appreciated seeing her battle Ming Hua in order to see the difference in fighting styles.
we have known since like ep 3 that Mako can lightning bend, he used to work in a power station and used it against Amon
He just usually isn’t trying to kill people 🤷🏻♂️
@@Bait154 In general though, all throughout ATLA we were always made to believe that lightning was (more or less) “1 hit = 1 kill”.
@@blindentertainment9412 Well... We went from bicycle-powered flight to landing on the moon in less than 100 years, so perhaps it's similar?
Stop saying everything is a retcon! You even know what it means? My god time has passed and abilities and things evolve...@@blindentertainment9412
Jinora getting her tattoos makes me cry every time. She is everything that Aang dreamed about, beyond his own children.
P'li's death is one of the absolute hardest things I've seen on television! My jaw was on the floor the first time I saw it.
Oak was so over Zaheer flying. His face was so dumbfounded. Priceless reaction.😂
Mako used his electricity when he was working in a factory and when he zapped tf out of Amon in S1 ⚡
I need someone to create a compilation of every time Mako uses lightning and every time you are completely shocked - every season, multiple episodes 😂
22:55 Tenzin was mopping the floor with Zaheer
35:23 well Guru Lahima was an Airbender who was able to fly (Avatar lore) it happened hundreds of years ago until Zaheer did it
36:28 that shot 😢
53:56 Aang must be proud 🥲
Aang refused, and consequently lost the Avatar state
some interesting details:
we never got a true fight between Korra and Zaheer because in both their main fights she was severely handicapped. Arms and legs chained up so she can't bend right, then poisoned and dying. She surely would have rocked his shit if she was in full form during any of their fights, seeing how much trouble she was giving him as she was
Zaheer was talented of course.
@@swagtachiuchiha1501 yet people will still shit on her all the time. It's very annoying
I just noticed she’s on the news paper when the team first gets to the metal clan
She’s also part of the dance choreography when we meet Su.
I think the introduction of Kuvira is sloppy, they could have easily given her a bigger role during the time we spent at Zaofu. Suddenly mentioning her name like this felt forced.
Yeah, although she was nameless until her interaction with Tonraq.
There's also a scene where her and a male guard are comparing workout routines.
The way Korra is so damn strong and powerful they have to handicap her in every single fight just to give her opponent a fighting chance like that’s my girl fr
I think the creators mentioned this in some interview that the bending evolves as time goes by, like how technology develops through time.
I have never been more concerned for a fictional characters wellbeing than that slow pan away from Tenzin 😭
Bolin's reaction to meeting Zuko is all of us
Jinora is one of the best characters of this series and nobody can convince me otherwise
Earth queens death is pretty brutal for a “kids cartoon”
Zaheer was on the backfoot for his entire fight with Tenzin. Tenzin is an Airbending master, Zaheer is extremely adept for sure but he's no match for the son of Avatar Aang lol. Like you said The Red Lotus would've been bodied if not for Pi'Li.
Except Bumi is the eldest lol, then Kya. Tenzin is their youngest child.
bumi is older
@@eva_beava Ah yeah true, point still stands though.
Tenzin is just always outnumbered haha, can't recall if he has ever gotten to do a real 1v1 showdown just always mechatanks and multiple people attacking all sides
Zaheer flying has been foreshadowed the whole season with all the Guru Laghima references.
Also, like Avatar Yang-Chen told Aang. The Avatar can never truly detach themselves because of their duty to the world.
And Raava's strength.
8:40 Look at the poor animals standing in front of the dragon 😂😂
the thing is i always mention this whenever this season is reviewed, remember the red lotus wanted to do this to korra when she was 4. now this was hard to watch on a 17-18 year old, can you imagine doing this to a 4 year old?
They weren't going to kill kid Korra, they were going to brainwash her.
SHE HAD NO ONE ELSE TO TEAH HER.
i meant if the red lotus captured korra Zahear would be her air bending teacher
Mako hadn't used lightning since Book 1 because he was not balanced within himself through Book 2 and 3, until he forgave himself for the messy relationships he created with Asami and Korra (Korra hugged him and he finally made peace with the gals and his mistakes).
Another layer, Korra who before was so quick to burst into Avatar state, has to for the first time in her life fight tooth and nail to resist and NOT go into avatar state because she and all Avatars will die painfully. Huge mental/psychological backlash :(
There's so many layers in everything in this series 😊
We saw mako working in the electric powerplant.
He is actually SUPER good at it shooting lighting that is.
Tenzin "reminder i am the son of Aang" moment
Uncle Iroh always MVP wise man
Mako worked in a power plant at the beginning of the series and he created lightnings in the power plant.
35:13 Imagine Aang letting Katara go back at the end of Book 2 before Azula "technically" killed him. With no attachments holding Zaheer, he becomes free. I mean Monks are supposed to be celibate anyways. Aang said eff that🤣
"When did Airbenders know how to fly...?"
"When did Bolin..."
NOW! On this episode! They both learned it right now. The episode you're watching. Why the silly questions? 😅
Absolutely love you guys! Wish you all a happy new year and good health!
Happy New Year's
Tenzin said "I am the son of Avatar Aang, I am the last Air Bending Master in the world... PUT SOME RESPECT ON MY MF NAME" 😂
JINORA LOOKED LIKE AANG...! 🤩❤️🔥
Oaks analogy of hunger games is exactly what happens in the next season.
"How does he fly"
Listen to the poem he keeps reciting ;)
"Let go your earthly tether. Enter the void. Empty and become wind"
If you "let go" of everything holding you grounded, such as relationships, worries etc. it's possible for an Airbender to fly
Mako has shot lighting at least 4/5 times in prior books lol
59:30 You can win a massive battle and not be okay mentally and/or physically afterward.
P’Li was one of my favourite characters, we didn’t get enough of her.
God, I LOVE Ming Hua! That scene of her pulling all the water and coming up with 8 arms is so cool!
40:30 A love interest for Tonraq?! HE’S MARRIED GUYS
It was in fact NOT only a couple of weeks 🤣
35:22. Since before they started being bound by earthly tethers. Remember the airbenders in Wan's time?
About the lavabending, you can think of it in a couple of ways:
Mako literally worked in the power plant since the beginning using his lightning bending and that's how he got Amon. What are you talking about, guys?
This season did a job stacking bodies!
I looove how Mason Quinn always butchers the names in this show: Brolin? Mayko? Peeeeelaaaaaay ?? 😅😅😅 Also the sexy eyes you guys make whenever anyone says "Family". It's so funny.
It makes me wonder how much he's really paying attention when he can't pronounce their names correctly
That one tear that streams down Korra’s face before the episode concludes always devastates me.🥹
Mako lightning bend back in Book 1 when he was doing the factory work and also to temporarily escape amons bloodbending, he does it again at the end of book 2 vs the evil spirits.
I just love that the show keeps getting intense and the antagonists are getting better XD
I can’t wait for them to meet someone in season 4. Don’t want to spoil at all!
Oh my god yes!!! They’re gonna love it sooo much!!
mako has been able to lightning bend the whole time, we see him working at a power plant using lightning to run a generator in the first season when they were trying to make some extra cash, and hes used it a few times since then, he used it to escape amons bloodbending, he used it to break one of the mech suits, and i think he uses it a few other times too but cant think of them specifically.
