I concur. I had the good fortune to see Duffy Bishop perform this in the short-lived stage play "Janis", and later, with her blues band in Seattle. This track was recorded at Bob Rivers (Twisted Tunes) Studio in Seattle, WA in 1991. Ms. Bishop was portraying Janis Joplin in the Seattle production of a play by Susan Ross called "Janis". The band members on this track are: Chris Carlson-guitar, Keith Lowe-bass, Bruce Laven- keys, Kevin O'Reilly-organ, and Jeff Hudis-drums.

This is Duffy Bishop not 'Duffy'. It is from 1991, when Bob Rivers (Seattle DJ & entertainer) recorded her in association with the play "Janis" that she was in.
I've been recently finding different covers of this song along with Erma Franklin's original (a solid classic as well; a totally different feel). One of them was Joss Stone's cover of it; I thought if anyone could nail Janis' style it would be Joss. She was good, but she's not Janis; by the way, neither is Tyler Perry incidentally. THIS I'm impressed with; Duffy Bishop nailed Janis Joplin's vocal intensity and style. By the way, I was thinking the other Duffy as well, one of my favorite vocalists. However, it just didn't sound like her.
I was wondering...miss Duffy Bishop does a beautiful job on it. This song is so NOT Duffy from Wales that I was very curious as to how she could've done it. (But I bet she could, with a very different arrangement) I absolutely LOVE Aimee Ann Duffy's music, but this is a sweet switchup.
This is not Duffy at all. Duffy's voice sounds different than this and this is Melissa Etheridge. Anyone can tell by hearing the sounds of their voices.

I like Duffy but trying to compete with Janis was never a good idea. You don't try to paint the Mona Lisa twice !
