Pretty cool. I get that you think you don't need the vocal balance feature, but that might be because you are already a Mastering Engineer. For people who aren't, it might be helpful. And even for people who know how to set levels properly it can help when you are using preset genre, or custom targets. I record my own vocals and just like everybody thinks their own voice sounds weird on a phone message, I have a bias when mixing my own voice over a track as opposed to another vocalist. Bottom line is even if you can't turn it off by default, you can still turn it off after it calculates its suggestions. Nice tracks! They sound really good and it's refreshing to see you get excited about the artists you work with.
Honestly the last three versions of ozone have barely added anything and I'd been really struggling to see the worth in even upgrading but this one actually looks meaningful and Powerful
Ozone 10 was worth it for the great sounding clipper (and it has its own sound which you can't reproduce elsewhere) and a stabilizer module in cut mode. The rest was kinda meh but these 2 features were amazing and I use them all the time. Ozone 11 on the other hand feels too overhyped with a new features which are unnecessary in 9 out of 10 situations. Transient and sustain mode seems like the biggest and the most meaningful update. I see a lot of use cases for them in mixing especially (not so much in mastering but maybe sometimes it will be usable). But the price for the upgrade is too expensive right now.. I'll wait for a bigger discount.
"Barely" is incredibly subjective. Clarity, stem-specific processing, transient/sustain-focused processing, upwards compression, and delta monitor are a massive upgrade in ability from even version 10
Actually I have something I'd love you to ask the Ozone guy about. I don't know if it's possible in Ozone 11 yet, but in Ozone 10 you could only input 1 song as a reference into the master assistant. I'd love to be able to feed Ozone like 5-10 songs and it averages out the elements and masters based on that. I dunno if that's part of their philosophy or not to be able to have it read multiple tracks, but I'd love you to fish a bit in that area. Right now you can choose profiles based on genre. It'd be so cool to create your own profiles based on multiple songs you've fed it yourself. Train your own profiles 🤯
Thanks for your great video! Thank you for your mega effort and the really deep represent Ozone. I am now firmly on board as a new subscriber of your channel! Top quality and expertise!
For your interview, I’m really curious about the relationship of upward compression, soft clip, and transient emphasis to character and gain, especially with regards to distortion and loudness. Thanks!
Hi! I just got Ozone 11 and I wanted to ask them, how did they manage to make the maximizer so transparent and straight forward? I no longer use the SIR clip + Pro L2 bc the maximizer ALONE managed to get my track to -7 with no audible compromise at all!
My thing is i can get a better EQ, Saturator, Limiter, the same price..or even cheaper.. most of the tools are corrective tools..if you mix you dont really need it..if you master for other people it can be really handy.
Not necesserily; it shows the difference signal; so what is being taken away; so often it can sound much harsher than what the actual artefacts truely are; however; it's a good reference check becuase you can audition the tonality of the delta to assess if it's taking away more transient, more top end, more low end etc.
@@panorama_mastering thanks for the reply. This confirms I understood it correctly. Some compressors' delta signal can sound real crunchy, like Kotelnikov, while remaining super clean
That’s all you use this for mixing? I would think you could use this in all kinds of ways for mixing know? By the way your break down is the best one posted so far don’t take offense,. But when you see a mixing engineer, having orgasms over their own mix over songs especially some of the songs that sound average as a song and singers are average it’s kind of a turn off. But other than that your personality is great and think you break down is this plug-in the best. So congrats 🎉
Hi Nicholas, we’re you paid by izotope for this video? No problem if you were but I always like to know up front. Apologies if you clarified it somewhere in the video and I missed it.
Good question. Absolutely not. I made this on my own accord (no affilate link either) just genuinely have enjoyed using this and watching the development of the product over the past 6 months behind the scenes.
@@panorama_mastering thanks for the clarification and, based on that, I did watch the whole video. Interesting information but I'm going to admit that it did leave me somewhat confused as to whether this was a review or just a walkthrough of features. But what confused me most of all was whether you are using this as your mastering chain (and have been for a while) or whether you are using the individual plugins that you've talked about many time in this channel, e.g. your recent tier list video where most of them weren't Ozone modules. I'm not trying to imply anything here, I'm genuinely trying to understand your toolset because if Ozone 11 is a significantly better mastering chain than all the individual plugins it may just mean I'm going to have to demo it.
Having bought the entire Ozone 10 suite, this upsets me quite a bit. Coupled with the lack of discount for OZ10 users. I wish they'd publish the updates they plan on doing, because I would have just waited the extra......what, 3 days or whatever its basically been since OZ10 released, ha.
Pluginboutique always has a discount on Ozone 11 Advanced when you upgrade from "Music Production Suite 4 or 5 or Ozone 9 or 10 Advanced". Strange if Izotope does not have this discount on their own sites?
For anyone who bought it in August mssg them you will get a free Upgrade. If not the upgrade price on Plugin Boutique is 50€ if you bought it in August.
What’s new is that support no longer exists. An AI bot that understands nothing, a “create ticket bot that never completes, this is what you are buying into, beware! Expensive without support!!!
I'm confused by this comment; but more than happy to welcome constructive critism; Is there anything that you can point to that I got wrong on the facts of audio processing, And is there anything that you can point to that might make this unusable for some engineers?
Ozone 5 had a sound that was kind of cool. This is getting dumb….but good for mastering engineers because now people are going to make their music even worse with all this junk 👍
@@You-ud2fp having an idea or not... Ozone isn't the way going with... when i was totally unaware of how things are working, before educating myself on how doing things in a correct way or at least getting some decent results... Ozone was like "PURE Fking magic" .... now it's just rotting inside the plugins folder.. :P if someone has an idea what he's doing, probably has found other plugins that adding way much more on the table while mixing or mastering... cheaper to use, or even with a much better upgrade plan when and if needed than what Izotope offers... Ozone anymore doesn't worth it...
It seems every time someone demo's a mixing tool or technique, the songs they use are all the same robot singers and looped beats that have decimated song quality so we end up listening to how features work on horribly crappy songs . Not sure why these songs types are picked, they are intolerable to listen to. Perhaps because this is what the top ten Spotify horror show sounds like.

You can do that in tonal balance. Just create a custom tonal balance and drag amd drop the songs you want to average out into tonal balance.

Is it worth the upgrade from ozone 10 as I just purchased 10 recently?
It’s a shame I bought the lot and it’s going to cost me loads to upgrade…. Think I’ll pass on Izotope for a while.
