Thankyou for your service but its a known fact that the 1911 chambered in 45 takes way too much training for the average grunt. Most rounds were fired out of fear at hit nothing. This is why the M1 carbine was issued. 45s in war rarely hit their targets unless in close combat
I own a RIA 1911A1 GI Model and that thing is not only one of the best made handguns I own, but it's also one of the most accurate pistols that I own. That thing even with crappy GI sights, is a tack driver with rounds hitting exactly where I aim. The reason why I think RIA 1911's are so good is because they've been making them in the Philippines almost as long as Colt has been making them. That's pretty much their national firearm. You can tell that people making these take a lot of pride in their craft. No doubt about it, RIA 1911's of any caliber are an incredible value for the quality of the firearm that you get.
Snagged one just like it from PSA on clearance last Christmas same price. Had same results. I was blown away when I saw this video. You made my day man.
Nice pistol especially for $400. You might have tested them, if you haven't you should but I've bought 2 models of the Tisas 1911 in the last year. A Tank Commander 9 (Commander 9mm) for $375 and a Stakeout 45 (Govt Model 45) with the bells and whistles for $430. Forged slide and frame, hammer forged barrels and the 9mm is ramped. High quality, very accurate, great sights, no malfunctions (my 9mm has over 1100 rounds thru it) and a pleasure to shoot. I USED to build 1911's and I can't get the quality parts to even start a new build for that price. Amazing pistols at an unbelievable price.
Most people don't know that RIA in the Philippines made the frames for a half dozen manufacturers who obv then put their own name on the guns. You've probably fired a RIA 1911, if you've fired a modern 1911.

I absolutely love my RIA's! I had a single stack 10mm, now I have the 16 round double stack and the mini 1911 in .380. Both have been flawless. No jams yet from either one. The 10mm has around 2000 rounds, I did replace the 16 lb. springs with Wolf 20 lb. springs because I don't care about shooting .40's in it.
Never had any problems with my RIA 10mm 1911 and always felt like the fact that it was a little heavier than some other guns actually helped control the recoil
I jumped on one of these last month at 399 from PSA. Fit and finish are excellent!! Ordered a few Ed Brown magazines from Midway USA and couldn’t be happier! Glad I didn’t sleep on this deal!!
I own a number of RIA firearms, including their Rock Ultra FS series in 9mm, 45ACP & 10mm; also own the Rock Ultra CCO in 45ACP. I have thousands of rounds through each; they ALL have been flawless, reliable, accurate shooters. Great triggers, very nice G10 grip, nice finish and all manufactured to the Series 70 design.
That is a good deal! I got my RIA 10mm for about $670 and it needed immediate work. Polished feed ramp and chamber, trigger work (came with an 8# gritty trigger) and a new extractor. It didn’t cost a whole lot to have this done and, while the reliability is still what you would expect with a 1911, it’s much better than it was out of the box.
Have had my RIA double stack 9mm for years , unfortunately I did have to send it back for warranty work once but that was taken care of and been nothing but a reliable gun ever since and is incredibly accurate.

The "false lock" is being caused by the extended ambidextrous safety. You're running a high thumbs forward grip. The side of your firing hand and your thumb can hit the extended end of that style safety and lift it into the slide on firing. If you were to switch that safety for a standard style one, the problem will disappear.
The way the 1911 safety works, that can't happen. It keeps the slide locked in its forward most position. Perhaps you mean the slide stop is bumping upwards? That happens quite often in 1911's with spicy rounds. Shoot right hand only and watch that problem disappear. Its a grip issue.
I have a Rock Island standard GI model without the Ambi safety and I also had the occasional slide lock issue. The actual problem is due to machining tolerances on the slide stop itself. The part of the slide stop that interfaces with the magazine follower to push it up and lock the slide on the last round is machined ever so slightly too large and can sometimes come in contact with the rounds as they move up in the magazine. This will push the slide stop up like the follower normally would and cause the slide to lock back. As you shoot the gun more the finish can polish down and this will occur less and less. I removed mine and gently made a few passes with a file and polished it up and have not had the issue since.

I had a similar issue with my Tisas 1911 (slide locking open when the magazine wasn't empty) however I also noticed that my safety wasn't quite as stiff as I would like. I replaced the plunger and spring that solved the problem.
I got my first 1911 last year. RIA GI Standard Full-size 9mm. Very happy with it. Trigger was 6 pounds but went to 5.5 after some break-in & I tweaked the sear spring which dropped it to 3.5 pounds. I'm keeping it. Great range gun.
This has been my EDC for four years when I rid my Harley. I paid $1200.00 when they first hit the market. It is my go to 10mm and I have a few. Why the importer had an issue is a good thing for guys or guy people. Great review. Great video.
Once you have the equipment, reloading your own is usually way cheaper depending on caliber you want to load. At the cost of commercial 45 Colt at $50-$60 a box vs commercial 9mm at $12-18;a box.
This is my daily carry. The only issue I’ve had with it is it’s incredibly to cycle aluminum cartridges. It’s an excellent 1911 and, definitely preforms better and is more comfortable to shoot than my Coonan .357 magnum 1911 that was $1500. 100% recommend.
I picked up the RIA 10mm TAC-Ultra Double Stack for $690 in 2022. Threaded barrel, flared mag well, skeletonized hammer, pic rail, fiber optic front site, adjustable target shooting rear site, etc. I couldn't believe I got that much damn value in a
PSA had TAYLOR & CO. 1911's in 10mm for sale at X-mas for $399,00, basically its a rebranded RIA, love mine, I get 1 in groups out of it, whats not to love. Thx for the vid Mac
How times have changed. Just a year ago, you stated you don't buy $500 1911's from the Philippines. Of course, in the same video, talking about how the new Colt 1911's were breaking frames. RIA is a pretty good company. I'm glad you opened up and gave them a try.
I knew someone would mention that video comparison. From what I’m reading people are very satisfied with their RRA. I’ve never owned a 1911 and was thinking RRA as a first.
I bought the 4 1/4" version of this gun when Grabagun had them for @$500. I wanted to see what they were all about. I was pleasantly surprised how well made and fit it was. I put @1000 rounds through it of a mix of cheap(read weak) stuff like federal,S&B, Remington etc and a bunch of my full power handloads as well as some Buffalo Bore and Underwood. It had a couple of (i believe magazine induced) malfunctions in the first couple hundred rounds and since i gave it 2 McCormick and 2 Wilson dedicated mags its been 100% reliable. Which made me decide to fix the things i didn't like. I replaced the Mainspring housing with a 25lpi Remington i had on hand, i tossed the trash sights where they belong and installed a set of Dawson precision. I installed a Cylinder and Slide trigger/hammer/sear to replace the MIM crap, and at some point ill replace the grip safety with something checkered also. I also tossed the hideous G10(hate those things) and installed a set of plain black plastic checkered grips. I really come to like this gun a lot! Its accurate , reliable and now almost the way i like them! That shit safety still needs to go and when the rest of the finish falls off ill probably checker the front strap(if i can hide those ugly vertical lines) and put a decent blk/blued finish on it. Its no longer the $500 bargain i was hoping for but its now a gun i trust and enjoy set up how i like it for less than i can buy an equivalent for. Kinda hard to knock them.
When I finally "Talked myself into it" (the next morning, that is), they were on back order on PSA site. Wished I'd bought it on a "Whim", when I First saw the advertisement... Got all the "other" calibers in 1911 from different manufacturers, but NOT a 10 mm in the 1911 format. Taught me one "lesson": Ya Snooze, ya Lose...! (Ps: I DO love my X-TEN, form Sig, though!). Lol...
Welcome to the club pard. A set of TruGlo TFO sites and a Hogue MonoGrip and mine was good to go. The one quibble I have is needing a "tool" to field strip it, but aside from that its all thumbs up.
I love my RIA 1911 officers model in .45. Bull barrel. Changed out the wood grips for some rubber ones. The softest shooting large caliber I have ever shot. Paid right around $425 brand new in box from a local shop.
I have a Rock Island standard GI model in 45ACP and I too have experienced the random "lock back" issue.
I had a sneaky suspicion that you were talking about the Rock Island 10mm. When you were talking about the price, remember, the Springfield Armory Ronin is about $800. The RIA cost me $599. I bought a RIA Ultra FS 1911 about 5 years ago. It was my first ever 10mm pistol and I love it. I really appreciate the grips on it as well. G10 grips are appropriate for a 10mm, and much better to have than the standard wood grips you get on many 1911s. It has been extremely reliable and a very nice shooter. Don't get mad at me, but I also got the RIA 1911 in 40 S&W. Mainly because it will help complete a collection. Now I just need to get a 1911 in 38 Super.
I had one of these from 2014 til 2023. Was a fantastic firearm, only issue I ever had was having to replace the extractor with a bit stronger design to run Double Tap ammo out of it
My local range (in the USA) rents out ArmsCor 1911's and they run perfectly. I got unlucky with a used one that jams every mag, but Rock Island service in Nevada is fixing it right now, for free!
I've got 8,000rds down the tube of my RIA 1911 FS tactical model .45ACP I had to replace the recoil spring at 6,000 rounds but past that it's been fantastic!
Yeah, I also have this same gun in 45 and it's been fantastic. I had one or two failures to feed on the very first mag I put through the gun with the factory mag, but after that, almost 1000 rounds later it's been pretty much flawless. Great guns for the price.

Bought my first 45acp 1911 a few weeks ago for $500, its the "Rock Standard" full size which is basically a budget version of their tactical model. Fun gun to shoot, reliable too, regret not getting a 1911 sooner.
I had a Dan Wesson commander bobtail 20 years or so ago and it was $600. Fantastic firearm straight shooter, comfortable, and easy to carry. Cost today is well over $1,000 dollars.
RIA makes 2 different "high capacity" versions too with double stack 15+1.... it uses a 40S&W mag. And u CAN still buy all of the models new for $670+tax & shipping & transfer if u look around
Awesome video. I just bought a Rock Island high capacity 10mm 1911. I'm a big time 10mm and 1911 fan. So far I haven't had any issues with the pistol. The thing is bad ass. I higy recommend the handgun.
@@m4rvinmartian The gun has so much weight to it with the full length rail dust cover. The recoil feels like shooting a compact 9mm. If I run out of ammo I can use the gun as a blunt weapon.
I picked up a Rock Island 10mm TAC for $580 new. Has the rail etc. it’s one of my favorite firearms! I ended up getting a 9mm TAC Ultra because of that.
I have a Tisas 1911 for $399. I added after market WWII style wide spur hammer, slide release, thumb safety and GI replacement slide and an arched MSH. Then I had it parkarized so all the parts had the same color.
you got a deal because the newer ones come with a rail. I got mine used with the rail for 540 saved 300 over brand new then I found out why gun would not hold zero had a fixed sight put on. Great gun enjoy
I got the Taylor's from PSA for $429. It's the same piece except the grips are a little different and there's a T on the slide where normally it's RIA. I also got a Taylor's 9mm for less than $400. They're both great shooters.
MAC, whatever happened to the BCM Di AR you were putting 10000 rounds through before cleaning? Also, you should do an updated torture test on the Beretta APX since they updated the platform
Yeah I hate it when people say you get what you pay for because it’s definitely not always the truth especially when you have companies out there that mark their stuff up super high, just because of the recognition of their brand name
How come you don't do reviews on Taurus hand guns I've got a couple and never had a problem with them I would really like to see you do a review of them I really have a highly respect for you and love watching your videos thank you for what you do!!!!!!!!
This proves that you don't have to break the Bank to get a good product. This RIA will do everything that a Dan Wesson, or Wilson Combat will do stop the threat. Modern Engineering has improved technology x 10 all over the world. Good Video
I've had my eyes set on the FSHC (16+1) version for the sake of capacity. Not sure if the mags are harder or easier to find than the single stack. I chose it over something like the Springfield Armory XDM in 10mm because the RIA looks way cooler, is sturdier, and I already have a RIA in 9mm. The plan is to have a 1911 in every caliber other than .45ACP because it's too overhyped. My GSG 1911 (.22LR HV) is popular with the ladies I take to the range. :) You got a good bargain on this. I'll just be spending another $200 or so for double capacity. Good luck with yours!
Rock Island Armory makes great 1911s and they are the largest producer of 1911s in the world. I have a double stack 22TCM/9mm RIA 1911 and its been a great gun. The adj trigger is very nice as well. I paid $650.00 for it back in 2014
I just paid like 50$ less and got a new P10C.. if you like CZ's now is the time to buy them because i have seen multiple places selling P10C's for $350 or less and P07's for like $450 and not that long ago they was going for $550.. the P01 is still like the same price but its the gun that got me into CZ's
This is a very good value at $400, or even $500. It's low on capacity for my taste, but a nice gun nonetheless. I was in the market for a double stack 10mm recently. After reading and watching reviews and tests of all the polymer-framed options, as well as RIA's version of the 2011, I decided that I didn't really need a 10mm. I came to the realization that most commercially made 10mm is loaded like mild .40 S&W, and the hot stuff is very expensive. I ended up buying a police trade-in P226 in .40 S&W, along with some Underwood hollow points loaded to where the .40 packs 580+ ft/lbs of muzzle energy. I bought some really hot Buffalo Bore hard cast with similar muzzle energy as well. I think the P226 loaded with that ammo makes for a good 10mm substitute, and the P226 is (gasp) better than a 1911 in many ways.
I believe these went on clearance to get rid of inventory. RIA is not making 1911's for PSA. They are calling it the admiral right now its going for 550
I purchased this same pistol for the same deal just 1 month ago with one exception, it shipped with a rather nice soft carry case instead of the hard case but wow, you just can't go wrong with this weapon! Yes I feel like I stole it!

Is aluminum cased ammo problematic in these handguns? I had a "high pressure event" in a Glock 20 w/ aluminum ammo.
I picked up the RIA 10mm TAC-Ultra Double Stack for $690 in 2022. Threaded barrel, flared mag well, skeletonized hammer, pic rail, fiber optic front site, adjustable target shooting rear site, etc. I couldn't believe I got that much damn value in a
PSA just dropped a 1911 in 10mm for like $550 Called the admiral, was looking for some reviews.
Its like para ordnance 9mm ... for 1911 lover its a good weapon
Exactly 😊
Either this was uploaded on 1.25x speed or MAC popped some addies. Boy is MOOOVIN
So PSA has a new line of 1911s made by RIA. I'm glad you took the time out to make this video so I can see what I'm about to get myself into.
PSA had TAYLOR & CO. 1911's in 10mm for sale at X-mas for $399,00, basically its a rebranded RIA, love mine, I get 1 in groups out of it, whats not to love. Thx for the vid Mac
My brother has that same gun and it's been a fantastic shooter. I have a few RIA guns and they have all been excellent for the money.
Thanks for the tips MAC! 🤙
Excellent presentation, thank you for sharing this video.
I bought a Rock Island kit online on a certain app. I then bought a certain 80% lower and built mine. I wanted to learn how one is made.
Im happy!
$399 is almost free in today's marketplace. Crazy how good of a deal that is.
You used to get a really nice AK for $399 😭
@@TXLionHeart I remember those days 🥴
Better than free if you sell it for anythung over 400 😂 resell it for $700 and it made you 300. What idiot sold that for $400?
I saw "399 1911" and INSTANTLY thought "RIA"...I've actually heard TONS of REALLY good things about their stuff!!
I have one in .45 AARP and it's a fun shooter. Solid value, even if not full of frills.
@@Stevarooni 45 AARP...I see what you did there. 🤣
I have a Rock Island standard GI model in 45ACP and I too have experienced the random "lock back" issue.
Proudly Philippine made...I have mine using in IPSIC for 13 years..still running great..
I picked up a Taylor's & Company (RIA) 10 mm 1911 10 months ago for $349.00. It's the same pistol as your showing. 5,000 rounds later, flawless 0:52
PSA is partnering with RIA to produce the Admiral line of 1911s...that particular one is in the future line up for a PSA production.
Was a fantastic firearm, only issue I ever had was having to replace the extractor with a bit stronger design to run Double Tap ammo out of it
I got the same exact model off PSA not to long. Iv had a 9mm version for a lil over a year, ran over 2k rounds through it. No issues at all
Picked up a Rock Ultra FS Commander in .45ACP. I love that thing so much. RIA makes fine firearms.
Nice to be back with Tkm H. good luck My beautiful american I have not been able yo post a freaking comment un decades because of constant surveillance, good luck american Warriors ❤️❤️❤️
The Girsan 10mm 1911 starts at about $530 plus shipping tax and transfer.. pretty good price for what you get too.
RIA is better than Girsan. Own both.
Awesome! Caught RIA GI model in 10mm at my Rural King... last year 349.99 on Black Friday
Awesome video. I just bought a Rock Island high capacity 10mm 1911. I'm a big time 10mm and 1911 fan. So far I haven't had any issues with the pistol. The thing is bad ass. I higy recommend the handgun.
Doesn't feel like a 10mm does it? But it rings the steel like one.
@@m4rvinmartian The gun has so much weight to it with the full length rail dust cover. The recoil feels like shooting a compact 9mm. If I run out of ammo I can use the gun as a blunt weapon.
Got a RIA Officer’s model in .45 ACP at $330 during the same Daily Deals at PSA. My first 1911.
I picked up their double stacked 10mm a few years ago, love it. heavy enough to where it feels like im shooting a 40
you got a deal because the newer ones come with a rail. I got mine used with the rail for 540 saved 300 over brand new then I found out why gun would not hold zero had a fixed sight put on. Great gun enjoy
Great review, Ty. Not bad for a no-longer-made10mm. Don't you suppose RIA will release an "upgrade" with a price increase? (Love that Delta!)
I got the Taylor's from PSA for $429. It's the same piece except the grips are a little different and there's a T on the slide where normally it's RIA. I also got a Taylor's 9mm for less than $400. They're both great shooters.
Hello. I bought the same one from PSA recently for the same price. Couldn’t pass up that deal. Runs great.
Had an RIA10mm for years now. Still working great
Thanks for telling us its no longer available.....
Gave 560 for an eaa mc1911c with comp in 10mm. Runs great
Have the same one! Number 5 in the line, holding on to this one forever
I traded my kimber for a double stack rock 10mm. Never looked back.
Good Video
Ive been very happy with my .45, Rock Island delivers on the value front.
-- I own one. It's a great buy. I can't stand how it breaks down though.
I've got their Match model in .45 ACP. One of the most accurate pistols I've ever fired, second only to my CZ75.
You got a good bargain on this. I'll just be spending another $200 or so for double capacity. Good luck with yours!
I’ve got the Ultra RIA. That holds 16 rounds. Paid a little more. I also have the Tisas 10 mm that I like a Lot better ! I paid about $600. For it.
Rock Island Armory makes great 1911s and they are the largest producer of 1911s in the world.
I have a double stack 22TCM/9mm RIA 1911 and its been a great gun.
The adj trigger is very nice as well.
I paid $650.00 for it back in 2014
Sadly they stopped offering the combo but I have seen the 22 TCM double stack for sale.
I have a GI grade RIA 45 and it's a great pistol. They are great values. My 10mm is a G20 Gen 4.
I have the doublestack version, was considerably pricier but I love it.
I wanted to get one but didn't have the extra cabbage...ill add i do love my RIA 1911 A1, for a .45😏😄
l have got one Rock Island 1911 is 22TCM /9MM.....l like it very well and i gave $400.00 for it.....Thanks Mac....
Old Shoe🇺🇸
I have that pistol. Awesome gun. I paid $599 for mine. Which was still a deal. I agree that deals are out there.
PSA has this in stock and on clearance.....but it's $636.99
My husband bought this gun when it first came out...excellent recoil management, accurate, and he's got 4,000 rounds through it,
I just got a brand new RIA double stack 45 for $300. I own Colts and Dan Wessons but I couldn't pass that up.
Seems like a solid, well made 1911.
For 4 notes this seems lik a steal. Nicely done.
