One method I use is to take the dire/shaman/rabid insignias from salvaging exotic drops from fractals and turn those into orichalcum helms and break those down into notes. Same can be done with those inscriptions but the weapons require 5 ectos, whereas armor does not. 75 notes per item and I get on average 1 a day from fractals. I have been crafting exclusively fine mithril earrings for research, because they only use mithril and crystals, and the crystals come from mithril nodes. I have alts parked at rich mithril veins, and also get a lot of mithril by playing in level 80 areas and salvaging level 80 gear, without buying anything from the TP. I find that I get mithril and crystals in a ratio where I can use them both up consistently without having excess of either.
what i would like to see is if you want to craft a helmet for example , it crafts all the parts automatically by itself , so you don't have to craft all the parts , you hit craft on the finished product and boom
The fast farming site isn't really useful for me, as that's designed for people who have no mats and tells them what to buy in order to convert to research notes. I don't buy stuff to convert to research notes. I just make mithril earrings and turn those into notes, because mithril is plentiful, easy to farm, and cheap. Now, to make the required 3,500 research notes for obsidian armour pieces, that takes just over a full mat storage stack of mithril ingots. So 2,750 ingots. That's a lot of mithril ore.
I just search for the cheapers tp/note item that stacks and I just put buy order for thousands of them so I can quickly destroy them for notes, I may lose a bit of gold but its so fast

as you get your legendary armor you can then break your ascended pieces at 500 plus drop rate.....it helps

alternative: play fractals/raids -> get drowned in ascended items -> stat swap to make them salvagable for research notes -> profit

Sage advice! Time to fire up my Artificer, give her all the kits my main has and have her grind RNs while I watch more videos. Everyone wins!
