  • What do you do when your body mounts are rotted out? Wing it of course! I make and weld in new mounts for the subframe on the 1968 Pontiac Firebird and I show you how I prep and apply POR 15 rust converter on the subframe. Thanks for watching and please subscribe so someday I can retire on youtube money!

So glad I found this video. Good job on that frame! I just installed the aluminum bushings on my 68 Firebird today. But, I had a similar issue on one of the mounts just like you had on your chassis. When I removed the old mount, which seem to be the original and was pretty much just dust, it decided to come out with a chunk of metal with it and now the hole in the subframe is huge and I cannot install the new bushing. It is the one at the front of the passenger side foot well that has the issue. What kind of metal would you recommend I use? I can get my mechanic to weld it for me. Thanks.
