  • A Blue Ocean strategy is all about finding new opportunities to serve the people you most want to serve and doing it in such a unique way that your competition is irrelevant. In this interview, co-author of the world-famous book “Blue Ocean Strategy” Renée Mauborgne shares her research-backed secrets to help you stop competing and start creating.
Watch the video to learn why being a multipassionate entrepreneur is a huge strength in any market and the importance of challenging your deeply held assumptions about your industry. Renée’s new book with co-author W. Chan Kim is “Blue Ocean Shift,” and it shares the steps any business can take to create their own Blue Ocean strategy.
Renée Mauborgne is a professor of strategy at INSEAD, the world’s second-largest business school. She served on President Barack Obama’s board of advisors on historically black colleges and universities, is a fellow of the World Economic Forum, and received the Nobels Colloquia Prize for leadership on business and economic thinking.
If you ever feel like everything you want to do has already been done before, this interview is a must-watch, and MUST check out “Blue Ocean Strategy” for yourself!

My favorite take-away from Renée: “at any point in the journey, you can turn back if you don’t think you can go. But the simple fact that I know I can turn back gives me the confidence to WANT to take that step because I know there’s always an exit door.” ...That takes a lot of pressure off, and gives us gentle permission to go for it, even if we’re afraid. ...Beautiful.

I'm a single mom struggling to find answers on how I can start a business. I didn't know what product to offer. I didn't know where to start. This interview has such fantastic information it opened my eyes on so many levels! The crazy thing is it was right there and I never saw it! Tunnel vision and God speed for everyone!! Awesome! A million thanx, Marie! You are changing my life and my children's!🤘😊

Oh my Lord! What an incredible interview. I think the thing that struck me the most was the idea of looking at your complaint department for answers on how to be better. It's so simple and makes so much sense, but I never thought about that. Looking at why someone won't choose you to draw them in is just mind blowing!

This has been one of the most helpful Marie TV video's I've ever watched (I've watched a lot and they are all helpful). Love this! The biggest takeaway for me was that thinking outside the box isn't just a saying, but an actionable way to succeed. I can create a Blue Ocean. Anyone who takes a look outside that box can too.

Hello everybody, good morning! In this current month, I finished of reading this amazing book, "Blue Ocean Strategic" in a comprehensive way. I bought it in a secondhand (in good conditions) last September, here in my city, about in 7.5 US dollars. This book is one of the best purchases I have done for the the last three years in international best-sellers in English. Congratulations for its authors and for Marie Forleo for this interview. Greetings from Sonora, México 🇲🇽👍.

What stood out for me was Renee's nugget: "If you want to create a blue ocean, you can't look at what people are doing in your competitive set. You need to look outside to understand how to shift what you do." These words of wisdom resonate with me loud and clear, probably because now I see the question to ask to better create a different vision of how I can move forward with my own business idea. I am eager to purchase Renee's book. The tools are golden nuggets! This is all so exciting!

“At any point in the journey, you can turn back if you don’t think you can go.
But the simple fact that I know I can turn back gives me the confidence to WANT to take that step because I know there’s always an exit door.”
THAT's what I love! It's the exact opposite of what many others give as success advice which is "In order to achieve something you need to go into "beast-mode", burn your ships and be all in!" Everything else is considered to be "half-heartedly"

  • @juliennedesjardins5383

That's a good point about looking outside. It's why I took the Diane von Furstenburg course from Masterclass last year. I'm in marketing, not fashion. But her notes on branding, packaging, and ICAs were SUPER impactful me. Nuggets like "everything you do is at the service of the brand" has changed the way I do business. From a dress designer, right?! She's brilliant, and had I listened to the people who made fun of me for taking the class, I would have missed that. lol

I came to this site following a search for "Blue Ocean". This was an expression I had seen used on a blogging site. This interview expanded on what had been offered on that site. A new and exciting direction and opportunity is opening for me at nearly 70 yrs of age. This information will help me to qualify my approach and method and allow me to expand the benefits to and through other people.
Much of my life has been spent in the world of "relative" safety, mostly public service. Even from that environment, I hope I have assisted many people into rewarding employment. My other commitments fulfilled, I am now free to tackle some issues in education foundation and opportunities for young people. This will be in areas that I believe assistance is urgently required. The information you are providing will, I am sure, assist me in that process.
    Thank you, Peter

I enjoyed this first viewing and will be listening again...but what stood out to me was not only looking from outside at the box but how to get a team/or create a team~motivated and a prior comment to Ms Lyzabeth Lopez who works with nutrition and health, who mentioned she was always getting ripped off for her ideals, that we should continue to be 100 percent great~ ourselves and take the lead, in spite of the fear of change and teach our team that this will be the process and take them (the team) step by step through it and allow them like the adolescent to get out of the water if they are scared...
