I am a man, and this story still made me cry... I just was so touched with the amount of suffering she endured to achieve her dreams! How she got her high school diploma while still being married to an abusive husband is beyond comprehension! She is amazing! An inspiration not just for women, but for men who feel they will never achieve their dreams! What touched me most was the power of visualisation... Even in such a small village, with no formal education, her mother and grand mother encouraged her to visualise her dreams! That’s truly an amazing!
How Ungrateful and selfish have I been to make excuses for the batons I have decided to carry. While it is true that It is not my fault for them being passed down to me, it is my fault for every day that I decide to wake up and pick it up again. Dr. Tererai Trent, Thank you for being a warrior of this life. I'm sorry for not doing my part for our community. Many batons are being put down.

If your dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough. You can, you should, and if you're brave enough to start, you will. Hi guys! It's me again :) You might have seen me before but my desire to inspire more people is what keeps me pushing to reach out more. We own a cookie shop business in our college town. When we first started it, we just graduated college and were living in our car with very little direction, just a huge passion to be successful. I started it out of a local bagel shop in their off hours at night with my boyfriend, Bran. It was a crazy experience but it worked! We became a success! And how we have our first storefront location (a second one currently under construction but launching soon!) We started it to fund a year long backpacking trip around the world and to be successful while living the life of our dreams.

“I never wanted the baton that was passed on to me of poverty or illiteracy by the past generations” Wow! What batons are we taking on that we do not what or choose?

Dr. Tererai's story is so powerful. Here most of us sit, in our safe homes, with all the opportunities presented in front of us and yet we still feel sorry for ourselves. She triumphed through insurmountable obstacles and achieved her greatest dreams. What an amazing testament to the power of dreams, hard work, and perserverence.
This interview has been the most inspiring I’ve seen so far! 💕 I think it marked a BEFORE AND AFTER in my life. Thanks so much for bringing this to us, Marie! it truly makes me feel that I can achieve my biggest dreams in life if someone with so many challenges and perceived limitations like her could! It makes me think about how lucky I am, how grateful I must be, and how ridiculous I’d look if I let my (super silly) excuses take me apart from my dreams. There are two types of people as you mention in your book “Everything is Figureoutable”: the ones that that have REASONS to give up on their dreams and the ones that give RESULTS. I’d love to contribute with Spanish subtitles for this video if you allow so that more people that speak Spanish can see this treasure interview 😊! You are one of my biggest sources of inspiration (and thought I should let you know)
I am so blessed to hear this story of passing the baton today. The universe directed me to listen to this today. This has had made such an impact on me. I work with at-risk kids and families everyday in family court, who I hope I am making an impact in their lives in this way. But this... is so profound! I will remember her message & pass it on to as many people as I touch. I plan to buy many of her books to pass on to the women in my family, the women in my life & others so that they too will ‘pass a better baton’ on to those that come after them. This makes it more important for me to follow my dreams, the dreams that I have carried with me my whole life... some realized, others yet to be. I love love love this interview!! Thanks Marie for bringing her to us!!
WOW, this was one of the best Inspirational MarieTV episodes I've ever seen. If Dr. Trent can achieve her dreams then I too can achieve my dreams and so can anyone else. Never give up and remain Patiently Consistent! I don't understand the 21 miserable chickenheads who gave this video a thumbs down.
I agree with Marie: this is one of the most (if not the most) inspiring episodes of all time. Hearing of her story, all she had to overcome, her perseverance, gives me so much energy... We have a power we cannot even fathom, and we must tap into it, take action, and create what we deeply dream of, for ourselves and everyone else. GO DR. TERERAI!!!
I absolutely love her story, tenacity and strong spirit. She is such an inspiration. I’ve seen her before in other interviews, but I really liked the respectful space you gave her to tell her stories without interruptions, thank you 🤗
The part that struck to me the most was when she said that "You have the power within. It's not your past that's going to define who you are, but it's what you believe about yourself, it's what you believe about your expectations, what it is that you expect from yourself." I have always been worried about my past being the reason why I've failed so much in life yet I realized that my past happened to shape me to become the person I am now. A girl fighting and working hard for her dreams despite all the circumstances I've gone through. Today, while I was watching your interview with Dr. Tererai, I am determined to realize my dreams and to really know what and who I want to become and I can only do these if I will start believing in myself and in my dreams and yes, I will. Thank you so much Ms. Marie Forleo and Dr. Tererai for such an amazing and insightful conversation! May you inspire more people, more women to keep believing in their dreams and to never let difficult situations hinder them from attaining success. Much love!
Woah. Goosebumps all over. It felt like Marie entered a sacred space and was talking to an old sage who is revealing to her all the wisdom. I could feel everything she has lived behind the tone of her voice. So powerful!!!
Every time I feel like giving up, I come to you, Tererai, whatever platform you're on. Thank you for winning so my girls and I have no other choice but to win
The BEST episode you ever had, Marie! Dr. Tererai, I needed to hear your encouraging words as I'm in the the final process of finishing my book. Making your dreams happen is hard, but I know I have to be a warrior! My dreams are worth the fight.
Tears of recognition and sisterhood from a fellow visionary - and gratitude for yet another amazing loving leader who broke the cycle of outdated programming. Let the ripples continue. Thank you so much, Marie and Tererai, for sharing your beautiful hearts!! Treasured Tererai, you have turned the baton of poverty into a torch of prosperity for generations to come - through your determination, your belief, your incredible strength - and your unshakable perseverance, beyond all odds. I applaud and celebrate you both! 💕🌿 🙏🙏🏽 🌿 💕 I needed to hear that right now, because BIG DREAMS can take so much longer than you'd think when you first start out, and the mind (and others) are quick to try to convince you to 'just drop it already and do something 'real''. Well, dreams made real ARE 'something real'. ... and your dreams are always worth persevering, especially when they're connected to the betterment of the world around you and your community. So, let's keep listening to that wise voice within and loving encouragement from that sage voice through all. Always ask "How would LOVE decide?" "How would FEAR decide?" With so much love and appreciation!
Thank you Marie ,thank you Dr for giving me inspiration I have put it upon myself to be a source of inspiration to this and future generations.May the good Lord bless you
"I knew at the end of the tunnel, despite its darkness, there was light. And I knew I had the solutions in me." This insight struck me because I am currently in the process of figuring out my dreams and what I want from life, and also what I have to offer. It has been a dark road for me and I feel as though I am always trying to gain affirmation and acceptance from outside of myself, not realizing that I have the solutions. I know what I need and want from this world, and it is up to me to make it happen. I have what it takes to make my dreams come true. I just have to get to work. One of my dreams is to be a published fiction writer and I am going to start practicing my writing and filling up books with my stories.
Deeply moving!! Thank you Marie for donating - this made me cry tears of joy! I just returned from 3 very remote wildlife camps in Kenya and visited schools with 1,000 children and no books. I tried to give the girls a talk about careers but realized I was out of touch with their reality since they didn't even have books. I will be buying and sending several copies of this book and mail to our wildlife guides there for them to give to their wives to read to the ladies in camp who can not read. What an incredible role model!
This woman, Tererai, story made me cry for honor and joy to how she made her journey of dreams come true. I feel her everyday grounding ritual of coming home to myself and writing my dreams down and the bury ritual I see as planting them as a seed in the earth for them to blossom 🌸💓
Thank you, Marie. This is a game changer. 23:25, when she talks about reuniting with the woman who woke up the dreams within her, proves, once again, that we can manifest anything if we see ourselves already having achieved our dreams. At 34:00 where she realizes the gift you shared with her students is priceless. This is a must watch for anyone who is still "deeply hungry". Thank you again. I love crying first thing in the morning.
That moment when she reunited with the woman who first inspired her, made us cry the first time we listened to it, too! We're so glad you enjoyed this episode Al! 💗 - Monauar, Team Forleo
👏👏👏👏👏👏 may I give both of you a standing ovation for one of the if not the best episode of Marie TV . I have no words to tell you how deeply her story moved me and her courage , conviction and self belief are beyond inspiring . What got to me was that she has been so used to an unkind life and struggle that Maries kind gesture had her break down and in tears. I have experienced that often enough to recognise it . If only people knew the power of true kindness and generosity the world would be a much much better place . 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 thank you Marie this was mindblowing . My respect for you just went many degreas higher ✨🙌🏻✨🙌🏻❤️❤️❤️
Wowww amazing insights here, thank you Mama Tererai for being a trailblazer like Harriet🔥🔥🔥. It's a great joy to see women like Ophrah and Marie support Terarai in building a great legacy that will transform the lives of these women and generations to come. God bless you Marie as you sow this seed of greatness.
I have watch so many Marie’s interviews, many are my favourites BUT This One... OMG... this one is The Best ever ever ever! With tears in my eyes THANK YOU!!!
I love Mrs Trent and I had never heard of her till the related post and Video. I never wanted the baton of being born in lack and living hand to mouth. I Always Dreamt of a life in a land of Cotton candy...thats what I thought snow was. I still have huge ginormous dreams. I love You Marie for your Huge heart for the world's women in Need. And for supporting those young women. More blessings to you. May you be blessed more Tererai Wow. I am so glad I came across this.
Thank you for this episode. Two incredible and inspiring women! Tears started streaming shortly after the interview started. I just started B School today....listened to some lessons at my 9-5...and watching this episode of MarieTV has solidified my resolve to succeed! There is NO excuse not to! Dr. Trent’s story is amazing. Thank you for sharing your story Dr. Trent and thank you for reminding me how fortunate I am. I can’t wait to get your book. Peace ☮️ & Love ❤️.........Kathy
This is one of my favorite interviews. I grew up in Africa too, so her story of triumph over everything that was handed to her has really touched my heart and inspired me to do more and continue to give back to my community. Thank you for sharing this story Marie and Dr. Trent. 🙂❤️
Thank you Marie, for this interview of such a beautiful women of God. Your heart, and your team contiune to uplift, and showcase how you can acheive anything you put your mind to. Sending many blessings from the UK 🙏🏽
I wrote so many notes and clipped all of the nuggets o wisdom! This really inspired me and has me so excited to do more and have an impact in my community. "Your dreams will have more meaning if they are tied to the betterment of your community."
This interview was so very intriguing and inspiring. Marie did something many interviewers don't do. She actively listened. She asked a few insightful open ended questions then allowed the guest to express in such an awesome way, the story that is her live. This combination of interviewer and interviewee is so powerful. Winning!
Thank You so Marie for interviewing Dr Trent ❤️. What I got out of this - “It is not about my needs only, my dreams in life will have greater meaning when they’re tired to the betterment of my community”, I am running with that. I haven’t been able to solidly state out my core dreams and goals, but after watching this video, going to have to sit with myself and answer certain questions. Thank you so much ❤🙏🏽. P.S: I’m a crybaby 😂so I cried when you talked about your offer to those 6/7 amazing ladies.
Oh Roberta, we're so glad you enjoyed this. Tying our dreams to our community is an amazing way to keep us grounded yet still powerfully reach for our dreams. We hope you have a wonderful time reflecting and figuring this out 💗We know you can do it! - Monauar, Team Forleo
I loved how she used the word HUNGER instead of passion, because passion is a word that is used so loosely nowadays. And yeah, an innate, unshakeable optimism can really create miracles. Also, never let your ego tell you you're too good to struggle, if the struggle is for a greater good. Thanks Dr. and Marie!
Her stories are mesmerising. I don't know why but this is making me cry. Having grown up and lived around the wold, I know the adversity she's talking about. This is indeed the most uplifting and most inspiring interview you've ever done, Marie. Thank you for sharing.
The part that most got to me was the part about asking yourself what breaks your heart. Is a great way to know the solution that would most fulfill you for sure.
Wow! This is the BEST video EVER. God knows what he is doing!! This showed up in my timeline for a REASON and at the RIGHT TIME. Yesterday I was thinking of quitting my pre -nursing school classes to totally drop the desire of becoming a nurse. But after listening to Dr.Trent , I realize the difficult can be achieved if I believe. Crying through the whole interview and realized this was the cleanse my soul needed. THANK YOU Dr. Trent for restoring the faith and thank you Ms.Marie for sharing her knowledge via your UA-cam channel!! GOD BLESS YOU ALL.🙏🏽
What a heart bursting conversation?!! If this conversation doesn’t leave you desiring to live deeply in your divine life purpose I don’t know what will! The love, authenticity, divine sweetness and beauty that is exuded from these 2 women is what the world needs multiplied infinitely. Blessings to them both and all those watching this video. ✨🙏🏼✨
Marie Forleo, thank you SOOO much for interviewing Dr. Tererai Trent - and I am crying my eyes out. I am so inspired by Tererai AND with your generosity for her seven young women going to college in the US. I lived in Africa for one year - and have a deep place in my heart for the depth of heart & soul that lives in Africa. I have no words for how touched I am right now. And on top of this, Tererai is living the message that my soulful work is all about!
Despite having heard Dr.Trent tell her story before, hearing it again has invigorated my determination to continue on my journey! As a single mother of three, as a mother that has dealt with violent trauma, the obstacles and self-doubt can feel debilitating. Stories like Dr.Trent’s are essential to the perseverance of women like me, and the women we want to serve... It doesn’t matter how long the journey takes, it matters that we journey...♥️.
To say I love this is an understatement. I found myself inspired, eyes welled with tears wanting to do more with my life. Thank you for posting this very special episode. It will stay with me for a long time.
First of all, I had to start following you on IG! This interview literally brought tears to my eyes. I know what I want, in my head but today, I wrote them down before the years ends, I will be ticking out two of them. And Dr. Trent reminded me of my mum, an incredibly hardworking woman, I can trace a lot of things in my life to her and I can't wait to give back to her just as much and more than she has done for me.
One of the best Marie TV's ever. My face can't stop leaking. Thank you to all the light bearing women in the world. May be all be there. May we raise them.
Two extraordinary women who improved their lives and are now improving the lives of others. Thank you so much Marie and Dr. Trent for this awesome interview!
Wow! Wow! Wow! I love all your content but this interview and Dr. Trent blew me away. She is such a powerful, grounded, balanced woman after so much trauma in her life. It is amazing to see a gorgeous flower bloom like Dr. Trent has. I'm inspired to go after my dreams of higher education, environmental restoration, and healing our global trauma of disconnecting from nature. I've had major fear about it in the past but this interview smashes all the excuses with a big fat sledgehammer. When she spoke about her indigenous beliefs and cultural practices I lost it. I believe so deeply that indigenous cultures offer major clues to our global healing and connection to the systems that keep us alive (nature). Dr. Trent is a gift on all levels. Thank you Marie for being so open and giving with the content you find and share. I value your work so much. You've become, and introduced me, to so many strong, brilliant, women that I see as my mentors now. I'm truly grateful for that.
How have I never heard of this phenomenal woman before?!! Talk about making me really see I do not have any excuse to be moaning about the batons I've been carrying through my choice. Just because I took them doesn't mean I do not have the free will choice to drop them anytime I want. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Marie, for your wonderful interview of the incredible Dr Tererai Trent - I love that you gave her the space to just talk, and your generosity. I was bawling like a baby at the end 💕 Joy 💗
WHAT A GIFT TERERAI AND THIS INTERVIEW ARE TO THE WORLD!!!!! Her perseverance, her tenacity, her bravery, her intuition, her wisdom...her story and vision. Speechless ❤️🌎✨🙏🏼💎
This was one of the most moving episodes and one of the most powerful guests ... I just came back from a year in Tanzania as a Peace Corps volunteer. I felt I hadn't done enough. To hear that one conversation with a woman had such a powerful impact on Dr. Trent, it made my heart burst. I cannot express enough how deeply affected I am by this episode.
DR. TERERAI TRENT is an inspiration for all of us. We learned from her life we must struggle and not give up. As I was a Substitute Teacher in AMERICA, I would say this promise Land is the best place to fulfill dreams, and the USA will welcome this attitude.
😭😭😭 omgosh this tore the heart strings! The biggest part that i took away was "...its how our personal goals are connected to the greater good. Thats what makes humanity and thats what makes who we are as people". As well as your dreams in this life will have greater meaning when they are tied to the betterment of your community. As a coach myself (in the very early stages - 3 months full time 🥰 yay) one of the biggest things that resonated with me was around the betterment of the community and raising humanity in everything i do. I just rebranded my business and company to Rising Synergy and ever since its become a major platform for dreamers, action takers and individuals who are wanting to break away from the norm and actually live their dreams. Thank you so much Marie and Terei for sharing this and also for the amount of wisdom and hope you share for people all around the world!! Yous are my inspiration and one day I dream to touch the hearts and spread the possibility of achieving your dreams just as much as you do and thank you, thank you, thank you xx instagram.com/risingsynergy
Oh my goodness. How beautiful is this video! Dr. Tererai Trent is a living testament of God's grace and love for each one of His children. Thank you, Marie, for sharing the beautiful soul of Dr. Trent with us. As a young woman working towards an education, I am incredibly inspired. I was meant to watch your video. 💜🌻
I'm inspired by Dr Trent. Words fail me. I pray one day I get to meet her. She's a Gem in this side of Eternity. God bless you Dr. Trent abundantly 🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
Man who cut all these onions?? Incredible story, her mom, Grandma and Dr. Trent and that lady who first instilled her beliefs are angels. Thank you for bringing their heart to your channel, they will inspire so many who had not heard of her before. Amazing, beautiful women and their unwavering determination to achieve their dreams for the sake of humanity 🙏♥️🕯️
What a joy to listen to this remarkable woman! Thank you Marie and your team for providing a platform for her voice, her experience, her wisdom. Thank you for financing the other women who she has blazed the trails for.
I must say thank you to you and Dr Trent. I didn't know I needed to see this conversation so much. You are a true blessing. Although, we never met just know that you're a virtual mentor I desperately needed Marie. We will meet someday and I can't wait to tell you to your face how much you and your guests have cranked up the fire in my spirit to help as many people as I can. Thank you Queen.

I needed to hear that right now, because BIG DREAMS can take so much longer than you'd think when you first start out, and the mind (and others) are quick to try to convince you to 'just drop it already and do something 'real''. Well, dreams made real ARE 'something real'.
... and your dreams are always worth persevering, especially when they're connected to the betterment of the world around you and your community. So, let's keep listening to that wise voice within and loving encouragement from that sage voice through all.
Always ask "How would LOVE decide?"
"How would FEAR decide?"
With so much love and appreciation!
This! MARIE... you're a rockstar. This woman is remarkable and a blessing to the world. 😆😢
Thank u Marie... this was my best episode so far... This was so important for me right now... Thank u..
I cried...thank you for the lessons and your generosity!!
*I never knew I was supposed to have dreams. I was an abused woman. A silenced woman* ... 😭
Running with the baton of wisdom. Powerful affirmation.
Marie is such a great listener. She knows how to pul wisdom out of her guests in such an inspiring way. Thank you!!
Am so inspired thnks for this interview marie forleo...
We must have the courage to desire what we desire.
That’s the hard part sometimes 💕
This is the best video I have ever seen. It's such a gift. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
This is extremely powerful and profound. It reached my soul. She is so wise. Thank you.
OMG so beautiful. This episode brought me to tears. Thanks you xo
Changed my life completely💖💖🙌
So beautiful - thank you !

who disliked such an inspiring woman must be the abusive husbands in Zimbabwe
Fuck them. Much love to this woman
Liking this video doesn't do it justice at all. Her story and work is amazing and such a gift to the world and her community
Trent. 🙂❤️
I can’t stop crying watching this video. I am so moved, it’s unbelievable how she got through
Wonderful!! In tears.
Me too! I'm also going through these comments and love it when people have quoted from the interview so I can add more.
This interview was so very intriguing and inspiring. Marie did something many interviewers don't do. She actively listened. She asked a few insightful open ended questions then allowed the guest to express in such an awesome way, the story that is her live. This combination of interviewer and interviewee is so powerful. Winning!
Thank you for watching and for sharing your kind words, Carol. We appreciate the time you took to be here with us. - Team Forleo
@@TeamForleo thank you so much 😊
This may be the single BEST video I've ever seen on UA-cam! THANK YOU! (wiping my eyes now)
I loved how she used the word HUNGER instead of passion, because passion is a word that is used so loosely nowadays.
Whew! Made me bawl my eyes out. So powerful. ❤ Thank you for sharing Dr. Trent's heartfelt, impacting story.
We agree completely. This is one of our all-time favorite episodes. SO glad you enjoyed Dr. Tererai Trent's story. 💖 - Jayleen, Team Forleo
We believe in you, Chinomnso! Welcome to our community, and please keep us posted on those dreams 💕 -Team Forleo
I just balled my little eyes out!! To say she is an inspiration is an UNDERSTATEMENT!!! OMG!!
it is only women that can effectively lift other women up! thank you marie and Tererai, bless
This was the best episode for me. Dr Tererai has touched me, humbled me, inspired me. I hope to see similar guests in your show.
Sitting in a coffee shop trying not to cry. Chills throughout this whole video. Thank you.
WHAT A GIFT TERERAI AND THIS INTERVIEW ARE TO THE WORLD!!!!! Her perseverance, her tenacity, her bravery, her intuition, her wisdom...her story and vision. Speechless ❤️🌎✨🙏🏼💎
Both of you are changing the world, and as the mother of two girls, THANK YOU
"I needed to redefine the baton" 😭 I'm crying so much at these words. I feel the *exact* same way. Thank you for this wonderful interview. 🙏🏽
Goosebumps!!! Amazing interview!!
I love the tenacity, it is contagious. Thank you, Dr. Tererai!
DR. TERERAI TRENT is an inspiration for all of us. We learned from her life we must struggle and not give up. As I was a Substitute Teacher in AMERICA, I would say this promise Land is the best place to fulfill dreams, and the USA will welcome this attitude.
My goodness.....we love her, her thoughts and her attitude. Its hard not to cry and feel that pain. It is a lovely episode. Thank you so much.
Thank you Marie and Dr Tererai. Truly inspiring, what an amazing woman! Incredible story.
Okay ! Now at 34 and Marie just made me cry ! You are such a woman Marie Forleo 💜💜💜
Yous are my inspiration and one day I dream to touch the hearts and spread the possibility of achieving your dreams just as much as you do and thank you, thank you, thank you xx

What an amazing guest! Loving her perseverance & humility. What she had to overcome to change her life...just wow.
Yes, I am crying while I watch this! So inspiring. Thank you Marie and Dr. Tererai
I'm inspired by Dr Trent. Words fail me. I pray one day I get to meet her. She's a Gem in this side of Eternity. God bless you Dr. Trent abundantly 🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
I'm from Zim, but didn't know of Dr Tererai. Thanks for this interview. And thank you Dr Tererai.
Desire, belief, failure, consistency, hardwork, law of attraction, universe, everything in one story truly inspiring!!

“The solution is in me” - that statement is so powerful and is the biggest of many takeaways from this amazing video! ♥️
God! I can't hold back tears. What an inspiration! "Hunger" that's the word.
When she said "ungraded" I knew exactly what she meant. Thanks team.
We're so happy you're here! xoxoxo
We will
meet someday and I can't wait to tell you to your face how much you and your guests have cranked up the fire in my spirit to help as many people as I can. Thank you Queen.
