While the German Unimog is a very good very capable offroad truck, it quickly reaches its limits when it carries a heavy load. In contrast to that Tatra remains offroad capable even when fully loaded.
You may wanna watch out, just in ten days (24th of may) TATRA will be introducing two new models to the public. And they look sick. :) It will take place at the PYROS expo in Brno CZ. Just something you may wanna look forward to. :)
European vehicles are exported often to America. Some notable examples were Skoda Trolleybuses for San Francisco MUNI transit and Dayton, Ohio. Hungarian bus brand Ikarus is operated all over the US, americans call them NABI, you should check them out too. You might also want to look at Renault Magnum semi-trucks which were demonstrated in the US during their Route 66 tour.
ATC (american truck company) Tatras "were badged and sold in the United States under the ATC brand. 6:56 a green car produced in East Germany when it was under Soviet occupation named Trabant 601 Kübel has been produced since 1967 . Two-stroke gasoline engines (add oil to gasoline) . In Poland, in slang, it was called "soap dish" because the body was made of a plastic called duroplast. Poles associated it with a plastic package for storing a bar of soap
Dude, do you want to see really rough Tatras? Find RM-70 rocket launcher (modernized as RM-70 VAMPIR), DANA and ZUZANA 8x8 self-proppeled howitzers and SLEIPNIR TATRA (the wildest dream of every bus driver).
Tatra Trucks is negotiating a partnership with the car manufacturer AM General. AMG has experience supplying the US military, but does not have its own product in the heavy off-road vehicle category.
Do you have some more info on that? I work at TATRA and haven´t heard about such thing (which doesn´t means it can´t be true, i may just lost it in communication) :D :D
@@samotnaf007 The project is just at the beginning. The two companies are getting to know each other's capabilities and considering what a joint product might look like. (Tatra would supply the chassis or their components, but the frames, cabs and superstructures would be made in the United States) You will certainly learn more from your fellow Tatra Trucks spokesperson Andrej Cirtek
From 2002 to 2006, Tatra was majority owned by the American Terex Corporation. From 2006 Tatra was a part of the Czech Blue River Group. This Amarican company almost ruined Tatra. After that, a Czechoslovak company bought it and again positioned it at the top of the segment.

The new tatra's are using daf cf components like the cab, engine and chassis. Like the yellow isrealian one. And the funny thing is that daf is a part of paccar what is a us company..
Only the Tatra Phoenix uses the DAF cab and engine, the chassis are always Tatra. Other Tatras use their own cabins and air-cooled Tatra engines. The Tatra engine does not meet the Euro 6 standard, therefore it does not use original engines for the civilian market. Air-cooled Tatra engines and cabs are used in army, firefighting and other special vehicles because they are very reliable.
ATC is the brand name Tatra trucks are sold under in the US, American truck company. The Israel army bought some ATC (Tatra) trucks from the US, so the Israel army ones are also badged ATC as they were bought from an American dealer.
There was another truck made in Czechia: LIAZ. Perhaps not so cool as Tatra but also interesting. Here is a short video from the LIAZ owners gathering: ua-cam.com/video/aDuPl3Tsp0k/v-deo.html
My daughter has a American hubby, works with American company. They moved back to Australia. 3 years ago.. hubby is in the big truck industry.. And he went. Wtf? How come America doesn't get these trucks? Answer. Simple. You're companies block anything better than American made.. The Pontiac GTO. Was available in all wheel drive. But GM America banned it.. Because it was better than the crap they were making..
I would've thought that a US government department like the fire service would have all American built vehicles. Its good to see some departments looking at other countries equipment. I wonder if we have any over here in the UK. The only former Eastern block countries vehicles I tend to see here, is privately owned military vehicles such as the Zill 131, Gaz-66 and Urals ect.
The small green car was a Trabant. They smoke blue out of the exhaustion, 5 km after they left the factory. And they smelled horribly, when you passed them on the road. Officially, the Trabant has never overtaken another vehicle on the road. They were that slow! (Well I might have made up the last part, but it's probably true).
I would love to see you react to..... Tatra firetrucks become more and more popular in Germany, especially in the federal states with large forest areas. Love for Tatra is very understandable, I liked them the second I first saw one. Heavy trucks with all wheel drive are wonderful in general, but unfortunately also very obscure and you'd normally not know about them without deliberately looking them up. Soviet Union built a bunch of cool ones that I know about. Don't know much about US built ones, I know of the M939 and CCKW but not much else.
Hello, small correction - the Czech Republic (part of the former Czechoslovakia) was never part of the Soviet Union. Although it was part of the communist bloc (Eastern bloc), it was always a sovereign country, unfortunately occupied by the Soviet army since 1968.

2:48 it stands for American truck company, its a company that imported tatras to US. They also manufactured some fire trucks on tatras chassis.

8:18 that siren is a Tesla AZD 501 from the 70s and 80s originally produced in Czechoslovakia.
The Australian clip towards the end is a training exercise in Perth
And the first clip is Australia as well
While the German Unimog is a very good very capable offroad truck, it quickly reaches its limits when it carries a heavy load. In contrast to that Tatra remains offroad capable even when fully loaded.
And in case of the 813 it also can pull 100 tonnes trailers...^^
I absolutely love Tatra trucks it's the penultimate truck for me. Everything about it just honks in truck.
ATC (american truck company) Tatras "were badged and sold in the United States under the ATC brand. ATC badged Tatras were fitted with American Cummins turbodiesel engines in place of the Tatra's air-cooled diesel." (wikipedia)
The green car is "Trabant 601 Kübel (added in 1966). Jeep version with no doors, folding roof, auxiliary heating system, the ignition system is RFI shielded." (wikipedia)
Do you konow other popular czech brand CZUB? CZ is a firearms manufacturer known for quality guns. CZUB has been the owner of Colt's Manufacturing Company since 2021.
Greetings from Czechia. I am really surprised how known our Tatras are.. Maybe you would love to see some older tatras also? Tatra 813 is also impressive one, these are beasts in trucktrial events.. Some sneak peak here: ua-cam.com/video/bM9-XNX2nwI/v-deo.html
I hope you will find 813's also interesting as I love these.. :)
I don't know the exact model, but the little green car at 7:00 in the video is a military version of a Trabant.
Dude, do you want to see really rough Tatras? Find RM-70 rocket launcher (modernized as RM-70 VAMPIR), DANA and ZUZANA 8x8 self-proppeled howitzers and SLEIPNIR TATRA (the wildest dream of every bus driver).
WOW, I'm learning about so many cool vehicles. Thanks for your comment.
I think there are some CAESAR howitzers mounted on Tatra chassis as well
@@MrToradragon Yes, Caesars for the Czech Army are to be built upon Tatra 8x8
Tatra Trucks is negotiating a partnership with the car manufacturer AM General. AMG has experience supplying the US military, but does not have its own product in the heavy off-road vehicle category.
Do you have some more info on that? I work at TATRA and haven´t heard about such thing (which doesn´t means it can´t be true, i may just lost it in communication) :D :D
@@samotnaf007 The project is just at the beginning. The two companies are getting to know each other's capabilities and considering what a joint product might look like.
(Tatra would supply the chassis or their components, but the frames, cabs and superstructures would be made in the United States)
You will certainly learn more from your fellow Tatra Trucks spokesperson Andrej Cirtek
@@JV-eo5dj Ohh, thank you very much, certainly will look into that. :) Sound very interesting :)
From 2002 to 2006, Tatra was majority owned by the American Terex Corporation. From 2006 Tatra was a part of the Czech Blue River Group. This Amarican company almost ruined Tatra. After that, a Czechoslovak company bought it and again positioned it at the top of the segment.

The American Truck Company (ATC) is an importer of the Czech Tatra trucks to the United States.
The little "green Guy" is a Trabant Kübelwagen. It was used by the fromer GDR Army.
zdravím TATRA se vyvážela z České republiky do celého světa dělali železniční motorové vozy, osobní i nákladní auta a dokonce i letadla !
Chcel si povedat z ceskoslovenska!!!
You need to check out Tatra trucks on the Paris -Dakar rally
"Little green guy" is Trabant 601A+F. Old small military version of Trabant 601. Engine is only 594,5cc and 19,1 kW and it has two cylinders - two stroke gasoline engine.
the small green car looks as a Trabant based car , later we can see a Wartburg 353 , they have a 3cyl 2 stroke engine . Tatra are very cool trucks , as unimogs :D
7:00 ist a Trabant it was the Most popular car in east Germany before 1990
the white and red is the Tatra. I like to see the Tatra as a firefighter all over the world. I'm proud of the fact that we deliver quality
Amazing trucks. Beautiful oldschool looking trucks. Thanks, i really like compilations and your commentary ; )
The green vehicle you ask about at: 06:49 - 06:50 is a Trabant
6:57 The little thing is a military version of the Trabant vehicle
Lil green guy is Trabant 601, funny "plastic" car (in fact it's mixture of textile waste and resin). My parents call it "PVC Jaguar". 🤣
The classic Trabant, that used to be common in Czech, people said that it's made of a bakelite, which would be made of a resin(pryskyřice) the predecessor of a plastic?
But i've never heard of PVC Jaguar, good one :)
ATC to ličenční výroba nebo zastoupení Tatry pro USA,ale místo vzduchem chlazených naftových motorů a manuální převodovky mají motory nafty Deutz bo Perkins a jiné a mají pro USA automaty.
The new tatra's are using daf cf components like the cab, engine and chassis. Like the yellow isrealian one. And the funny thing is that daf is a part of paccar what is a us company..
The chassis is NOT DAF - original TATRA for over 100 years 🙂ua-cam.com/video/NjLtO5msx1M/v-deo.html
The old bus is an Ikarus from Hungary. Ikarus was one of the largest bus manufacturers at one point.
That green little guy was Trabant. It is vehicle build in East Germany in the times of Cold War. Here some info on wiki en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trabant
ATC is the brand name Tatra trucks are sold under in the US, American truck company. The Israel army bought some ATC (Tatra) trucks from the US, so the Israel army ones are also badged ATC as they were bought from an American dealer.
The little Green Car ist a Trabant Kübel. A Military vehicle from the East German Army. 2 Stroke, 2 Zylinder with 24hp.
In the movie fury road, the big rig is a reworked Tatra. used the chassis, engine and gearbox.

You must look at "magical" Tatra suspension, its different😁
There was another truck made in Czechia: LIAZ. Perhaps not so cool as Tatra but also interesting. Here is a short video from the LIAZ owners gathering:
ua-cam.com/video/aDuPl3Tsp0k/v-deo.html
My daughter has a American hubby, works with American company. They moved back to Australia. 3 years ago.. hubby is in the big truck industry..
And he went. Wtf? How come America doesn't get these trucks?
Answer. Simple. You're companies block anything better than American made..
The Pontiac GTO. Was available in all wheel drive.
But GM America banned it..
Because it was better than the crap they were making..
TATRA = tube frame, independently suspended swinging half-axles bolted together into a single unit., air cooled V 12 engine. It is TATRA!
The "little Green Car" is a (east German) produced Trabant but I think the soft top is DIY
That small green thing is Trabant ex military vehicle
the green car between the firetrucks in Germany.. It looks like a"jeep" transformed Trabant
CFA Crew protection system testing by CFA (country Fire Authority)
And then understanding this system you must watch...
2015 Pinery Fire S.A - firetrucks overrun by flames and go into burnover mode by dashcam owners Aus
Another good volunteer service to check out is Australia's State Emergency Service
They do everything like flood rescue, road crash rescues, land searches, car vs house, cliff rescues, storm damage, and USAR (earthquakes)
Yes, definitely!
Tatra firetrucks become more and more popular in Germany, especially in the federal states with large forest areas. In the following video there is an out of German standard (two-tone) sirene, maybe because the fire department is very clse to the Czech border.
ua-cam.com/video/zgQEJdjQLOg/v-deo.html
Fun fact. The czech two-tone signal for firecars should remind to czechs the sound of word HOŘÍ (hoo-říí)...which in english means "its burning".😉
7:08 TOP OLD TATRA 148 V8 6x6 CAS 32 (years 70s.)

.-TATRA DEFENCE VECLES,
- EXCALIBUR ARMY (EA) - based on TATRA CHASSIS AND ENGINS,

- cooperation of french NEXTER and TATRA (chasiss) - model TITUS
7:00 i think its some kind of modification from Trabant maybe
The Green funny Thing is a Trabi a duroplast car from the eastblock Produced in the cold War
The little green car is army modifications Trabant 601 Kübelwagen (Time: 6:47)
That little "green thing" is a Sachsenring Trabant 601 in the army version of the former DDR.
Tatra makes 12 wheel drive trucks and can't be stopped
this little green stuff is Trabant in military mod.
7:00 that green hideous little car is a Trabant en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trabant so some modified version
You should also check the other Czech off-roader truck Praga V3S. Oldie but still more than able.
You're a man of culture
8:23 this is an old,... maybe 80s Czechoslovakian siren
Tatra is present on all continents. This video only included fire trucks but there's a better video with more locations and trucks. Right here: ua-cam.com/video/WTsQ2Ad0PTU/v-deo.html
The "little green guy" @07:00 is a special Trabant (cabrio). 🙂 Made in East Germany.
The Kittel Green gut is a Trabant.. they called Trabbi in germany
i think i have driven one of them in snowrunner
ATC (American Truck Company) was bought by Tatra because of Buy America.
the little green guy is a military version the trabant 601
I would recomend to watch some videos of Praga V3S
did some research atc is the american truck company who make tatra style trucks for the usa
All you have to do now is "accidentaly" start fire in Jackson, Alabama. :D
Varnsdorf? I was born there! A big surprise for me! It made me happy! :D
Varnsdorf is located in the north of the Czech Republic. Right on the German border.
There is this little boy inside me who want urgently to drive one of these.
Česko nebylo nikdy Ruské!, aspoň zatím
The litel Green is e Trabant Kübel for the NVA
The small green car is a „Trabant Kübel“. Was the border patrol car of the East German army.
