It was long retired and its only job left was to participate in the annual parade honoring our towns founding. With one exception: In the case of a wildfire even that old truck was called back into action because there are no fire hydrants in the woods and you need the help of any truck that can carry whatever amount of water when trees are on fire and every inch of land around them is bone dry.
Volunteer fire departments are using renovated old trucks (its usually Skoda-Liaz or Tatra148, sometimes even Praga V3s) and those Iveco vans. Ofc some of volunteer FD have new vehicles as well, but this is common.

@6:50 more important is the sign on the right of the grill, LIAZ. LIAZ was created as a Skoda subsidiary, created by the Socialists in the 1950s. Later on it became a independent brand.
I just wanted to shed some light on why you saw several generations of special vehicles at one fire. if a big and rich city decides to refurbish its fire trucks, it will sell them or transfer them to a small town or village for volunteer firefighters for free. although these cars are 20-30-40 years old, their technical condition is more than good and reliable. 360 days a year they wait for a problem... ( 5 days they have a practice trip ) in this case older vehicles helped carry water to the fire. the new ones belonged to professionals from the capital. they were called to the fire by the intervention commander. therefore they arrived later and were from other fire stations.
LIAZ is a defunct Czech and Czechoslovak manufacturer of trucks. The company was formed in 1951 by the government as a division of Škoda. Like the one at 7:43
"Hasiči" inscription on firetrucks literally means firefighters (of course). Based on verb "hasit" (which means put fire out) and pronuncation :hasetchi (I guess). It's same in Czech and Slovak language.
Hasiči means firefighters. This Škoda is Škoda 706 and it is old. Škoda now produces cars, trans, and locomotives, but they also made trucks, tanks or even few nuclear reactors (that were used in Czechoslovakia).

Yup volunteer fire fighters has a lot of awesome old pieces and some of them makes a charity collections for their vehicles to keep in good conditions. Ours volunteers are a part of village culture (country life) DHZ (you can find on their vehicles) means: Dobrovoľný Hasičský Zbor = Voluntary fire brigade. This is the way to distinguish regular and volunteer firefighters
Škoda once directly also produced nuclear reactors under a Soviet license and collaborated with the predecessor of Rosatom on their development, it was a pressurized water VVER with an electrical output of 440MW and later also 1000MW. All nuclear power plants in Slovakia, Czech republic and Hungary this reactors still using.
Firetruck is LIAZ which means Liberecke Automobilové Závody = "Liberec Automotive Plant" That firetruck is from 70-ies and is rarely used. They pulled it out because they probably needed more water to extinguish fire, but they are not regularly used anymore. They are more like oldtimers of firefighting units.

East Europian? Prague, the capital of Bohemia, is 150 kilometers west of Vienna. Vienna was the capital of the Central European empire of the Habsburgs, which included the Czech Kingdom for many centuries. Prague was the capital of the Holy Roman Empire of the German nation. Did you learn anything about the history of Europe?
This was fire in vineyards at capital city Bratislava. So that first Tatra is real beast: Engine is from American company Cummins, its inline 6 with 15 liters of volume, 600hp and around max 2000 lb-ft at 1200rpm. Standard ride height is 14.2 inch and you can add 4.5 inch or lower it by 4.7. Driver can inflate/deflate tires as he needs. This Tatra is the best way how to bring 20 000 liters of water with you in to the forest. So the older trucks, are not really trucks of professional units, but more of hobby firefighters. They are stationed mostly in smaller villages, and can be first responders in those villages. Or if there is fire like this, they can help profesio0nal units to bump up numbers of firefighters so not all professionals are at one spot and can be ready for other emergencies.
6:42 yes is škoda. Is škoda liaz 706 rthp many czech and slovak firefighters still use. in the Czech Republic we have 3 types of firefighters. 1. professional 2. voluntary and 3. sports. for fires, only 1. and 2. I apologize for my English. I hope that is understandable
This area ie actually still part of capital city Bratislava called Vajnory. Literally old wineyards. I used to park there. The little blue car is likely Dacia Logan. The old looking trucks are nowadays used by volunteer fire brigades. These were indeed Škodas, but also made by subsidiary company LIAZ (Liberecké Automobilové Závody). LIAZ sometime later became an ''independent'' company (if you can call anything independent during communism) and competed alongside with Tatras on the world famous Rallye Dakar for example. After the fall of Communism and influx of new, more exotic and often even better trucks, LIAZ struggled to keep up the sales and even when trying to sell multiple modernised and OK-ish models, they went bancrupt in 2004 I think and no longer exists.
This was a joint LIAZ-Škoda product (production city Liberec and Jablonec nad Nisou 1951-2002), and the KAROSA car also appeared in the video (production city Vysoké Mýto 1896-2007) now Iveco Czech republic😞
07:30 Upgraded Škoda LIAZ 706 RTHP (over 40 years old) 09:10 LIAZ 101.860 CAS 25K (with Karosa cabin maybe 30 years old) Karosa was company which made a buses. Reason, why name "Škoda" appeared there...Škoda developed truck Škoda 706 in 1945. Goverment decided to move production of truck to new company LIAZ (Liberecké automobilové závody). New developed Škoda LIAZ 706 RT was made there in research department. Production started in 1958 to 1985. But engine was still only evolution of old engine from Škoda 706. So why its Škoda in name of truck. Old trucks in "Volunteer fire department" in Slovakia are very common. Volunteer firefighters are mainly workers in industrial factories and masters in old mechanical stuff. I rode on this truck when i was a child. It was really great experience :) LIAZ was very popular truck on Rally Dakar in 80's and 90's. cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%A0koda_706
So that skoda/liaz truck is actually made by 2 different companies. My dad was a head of technical division here for our firefighters brigade so i spent alot of times around such vehicles. As far as i can remember they were made in 2 different companies like the chasis and engine was made by skoda and the cab an the tanker was made by liaz or vise versa. Usually the very VERY boxy ones afaik had tatra chasis and the cab was made by karosa. So that's how they were made.
Tatra Truck has a US relationship, because DAF Trucks a Paccar company has a 19% stake in Tatra. Tatra uses Paccar and DAF engines and DAF cabs. Did you notice that the crab crowling Tatra truck in an ealier video of yours has a DAF cab?. Maybe this will help you a bit to make a choice between Tatra and Unimog. Thanks for your great videos.
10:19 Multiple fires broke out in the fields between the Bratislava Airport and the highway, and their smoke covered the capital city and surrounding villages. The firefighters' work is further complicated by the strong wind. A massive fire erupted in y(Vrakún) near the airport, and the smoke has engulfed the Slovak capital and nearby villages. The meadow between the airport and the highway is burning at several locations, visible from Pozsonypüspöki (Podunajske Biskupice) as well. State and volunteer firefighters are on the scene, but the strong wind makes the firefighting efforts challenging - informed Roman Lamos, the mayor of the municipality, on his social media page. On Saturday evening, the fire that broke out near the M. R. Štefánik Airport in Bratislava has been brought under control. The fire has been successfully contained and extinguished.

Cheat and kinda good car. It's not that small like for example Smart. It's a size of VW Golf/Polo.
LIAZ trucks. The "Škoda" emblem is found on some LIAZ trucks because LIAZ (LIAZ Agro) was a vehicle manufacturing company based in Liberec, Czech Republic, and it was a part of the Škoda Auto group. The Škoda name is a renowned brand in the automotive industry, and when LIAZ became a part of the Škoda corporate group, some of their vehicles were also branded with the Škoda emblem. That's why we can see some LIAZ trucks with both the LIAZ and Škoda logos simultaneously.

The channel's name translates to "My video from Bratislava" and the video to "A fire in Bratislava". The title Hasiči (pron. "hasichi" in English) means "Fire fighters", more literally "Fire-quellers" (from the verb hasiť, "to put out a fire", "to quell a fire"). Another synonym, used for a few decades, was Požiarnici ("Firemen"), but we went back to the arguably more traditional (and shorter) term hasiči in the late 1990s or thereabouts. :-) As for police... In English, "Polícia" would be pronounced roughly like "poleetsiya". The summers in Slovakia are typically mild or milder, but can also experience heat waves at the height of summers, especially in the southern regions.
The history of Škoda 706 trucks and buses actually dates back to 1939 (the beginning of World War II) and their development continued even in communist Czechoslovakia in the 1950s. Škoda was an engineering company founded in Pilsen in 1866 by Emil Škoda. From the original armor factory, Škoda's plants grew to the level of a large metallurgical and engineering concern. The Škoda company produced locomotives, trams, trolleybuses, technology for sugar factories, distilleries, breweries, refineries, lathes, forges and presses, produced boilers, nuclear reactors, turbines, generators, transformers, etc. The company was divided into many smaller factories, which in the 90s were privatized to individual independent companies.. Apart from the historical name and logo, the Škoda passenger car factory had in fact in modern history no connection with factories producing trucks or locomotives, etc. The Škoda 706 RTHP Fire Truck was built on the chassis of the Škoda 706 RT truck and was produced in a truck factory that in socialist (communist) Czechoslovakia was named LIAZ (LIberecké Automobilové Závody which means *Car factories in Liberec). The company LIAZ produced these trucks under the established name Škoda 706. This fire truck was produced from the 1960s to the 1980s. The word Hasiči, which is written on the trucks, is the same in Czech and Slovak language and means Firefighters..
The old Skodas/LIAZ was Created by the Goverment by uniting 8 Truck manufactor in 1951 as a Skoda Subdivision and branded their trucks partly as Skoda, LIAZ or Skoda LIAZ. could be Skoda/ LIAZ 706 RTs (Build from 1957-1979 ) or 706MT (1969-1987) - I think it is a MT.
Skoda used to make trucks but stopped making them in 1984 then the LIAZ name was used on trucks until production ceased in 2003, I used to see them (Skoda trucks) in London UK in the 1970s owned by the Czechoslovakian state owned company CSAD, that was in the days when Czechoslovakia was a communist country. I was always surprised they made it all the way to England from Czechoslovakia because they always looked so ancient.
You would be even more surprised when I tell you that Skoda also builds railway locomotives almost as long as they build cars and trucks, from steam in the past to modern electrics now.
I would also add weapons, ship engines

LIAZ is a defunct Czech and Czechoslovak manufacturer of trucks. The company was formed in 1951 by the government as a division of Škoda. Like the one at 7:43
"Hasiči" inscription on firetrucks literally means firefighters (of course). Based on verb "hasit" (which means put fire out) and pronuncation :hasetchi (I guess). It's same in Czech and Slovak language.
LIAZ (Škoda) built amazing trucks up till the late 90s. The Skoda Xena was a beautiful truck, powered also by Detroit Diesel.
Hasiči means firefighters.
This Škoda is Škoda 706 and it is old. Škoda now produces cars, trans, and locomotives, but they also made trucks, tanks or even few nuclear reactors (that were used in Czechoslovakia).
have a limited quick pronounciation guide for slovak (works also for czech):
č = ch
š = sh
ž = zh
c = ts
e is pronounced as in pet
i is pronounced as in pit
áíé... just means to lengthen the vowel
theres more of course but thís should get you to pretty acceptable pronounciation :)
In 7:29 min its SKODA 706 RTHP ( fire modification),produced LIAZ Liberec from 1958 - 1985 years! This is OLD STAR. In 9:11 min. Karosa CAS K25 Liaz 101.860 YES THEY CARS HAVE GREAT SHAPES BECOSE CONSTRUCTED THIS CARS KOMUNISTIC CONSTRICTERS FOR EXTREME WORKS.
The blue one is Fiat Punto (poonto) and the black one is Seat Leon. In Slovenia we say policija as well. Our pronounciation of Skoda Octavia is Shkoda Oct-aah(like at the dentist 😂)-vee-aah 😂
"Hasiči" means Firebrigade. It´s from word "Hasiť" which means Fight the fire.
Yup volunteer fire fighters has a lot of awesome old pieces and some of them makes a charity collections for their vehicles to keep in good conditions.
Ours volunteers are a part of village culture (country life)
DHZ (you can find on their vehicles) means: Dobrovoľný Hasičský Zbor = Voluntary fire brigade.
3:17 the car looks like a first generation Fiat Punto. 7:30 Liaz truck making during and after communist times until 2003 (bankruptcy). It belonged to the Skoda . Engines from Liaz trucks were also used in large tractors LIAZ SKODA ST 180
09:11 LIAZ is truck industrie and on big on central -Europan area. Best times was 1971 - 1994 .
the fire truck Liaz and Skoda are very old old trucks they are just kept clean and well maintained
The truck you we're refering to, was indeed a Skoda-Liaz brand. A Liaz constructed under the wings of Skoda (East Europian)
That Iveco is on a 7.5 tonne chassis, a peculiarity of European driving licence categories.
This was fire in vineyards at capital city Bratislava.
So that first Tatra is real beast:
Engine is from American company Cummins, its inline 6 with 15 liters of volume, 600hp and around max 2000 lb-ft at 1200rpm.
Škoda makes all sorts of things. Just waiting for you to find out they make locomotives as well :D
Did he already find any Tatra trams? That might surprise him, too. And maybe one day he'll find Praga or Avia.
Don´t think so. I do believe he is aware of the Škoda trams though.
Yes and no, they use name škoda too, but these are actually 2 completely different brands.
6:45 CAS 25 Skoda 706 TRHP
I used to drive military versions of the same tatra trucks.
9:45 Most likely a Skoda 706 RTHP
This area ie actually still part of capital city Bratislava called Vajnory. Literally old wineyards. I used to park there. The little blue car is likely Dacia Logan. The view from wineyards is really beautiful. You can see almost 180 from over there. I love to walk there. Even amazing gardem restaurant is close there uphill. Definitely beautiful place to visit for short walk or biking.
Iveco Turbo Daily are small trucks with a range from 2.9ton to 7.5ton. total weight, and power up to 210hp engine power. Transmission is available up to 180hp, a 6-speed manual gearbox or automatic, the 210hp version is only available with automatic. Heavyduty versions with dually in the back are available for the 3.5ton for an additional charge. The duallys are standard from 3.5ton to 7.5ton total weight
the SKODA do a lots of things... since 1859.... they do cars, trucks, trains, trams, metros, tanks, tank destroyers, guns, artillerys, ship cannons, they do everything that could be made of metal :D now there is still has skoda skoda automotive which is part of the vw group , skoda electric which is usually renowating trains-trams etc.... and skoda trasport which is still make trains, trams, trolleys etc.... the "gun/cannon" factories closed after the ww2
LIAZ is a different Czech and Czechoslovak manufacturer of trucks. The company was formed in 1951 by the government as a division of Škoda, incorporating eight other truck manufacturers into a single conglomerate. In 1953 LIAZ became independent of Škoda but still continued to use its name until 1984
All Iveco Daily's have "industrial" wheels and tires and heavy duty like this one have dually setup in the back. These pickup versions are sold with chassis cab (same as in US with commercial F-250/350/450) and are fitted either with regular bed, specialized like the fire truck and are used as tow trucks (tow truck using only 2 door cab)
Little Fiat is 2nd gen facelift Fiat Punto
Unmarked car is most likely fire chief (because of red beacon). Yes the car is Mk2 Seat Leon, and it's sister car of Audi A3 (8P), Mk5 and Mk6 VW Golf, Mk2 Škoda Octavia and some other Seat's
When it's says Policia it's pronounced mostly the same as Spanish version, but if it's Policija then it sounds different
3:19 Fiat Punto type 2 2006 facelift version
Skoda Holding was making locomotives, ship engines, trucks, trams, all heavy materials at the beginning of its time.
Much later they bought a small carmaker.
That small carmaker now called Skoda sold to VW and the rest to other companies
7:30 min - Skoda-LIAZ 706 GCBA
4:12 it looks like outskirts of the capital, i think on east/north-east of the capital, but idk for sure
7:30 min the truck manufacturer is LIAZ from Czech Republik
It's in our capital in Slovakia (a bit out but still the capital) :D

skoda is not just cars. they also produce/produced small and medium-sized trucks as well as machine tools. In my career as an engineer, I have seen machines as tall as a house (rollers, punches, bending machines) with the Skoda logo on them
Small note here. We are Slovaks from Slovakia and we speak slovak 😊.
I think you'd enjoy this video about one of the few ferries that go from Finland to Sweden. They're quite different to ferries in the U.S. and people often take trips aboard them as sorta mini vacations.
Here's the video link:
ua-cam.com/video/FnTZFOC0bTo/v-deo.html
There is not only Tatra in the Czech Republic, it is not much, but you may like it. LIAZ 70 let v Mnichově Hradišti.
6:30 No, they don't speak spanish.😂 The c is pronounced ts.
Any Iveco Daily with a gross weight over 3.5 tons has dual black wheels. The little blue car is a 2nd-gen Fiat Punto, the black car is a 2nd-gen SEAT Leon.
The most of smaller iveco units are used by volunteer firefighters
That Skoda was LIAZ (Liberecké automobilové závody)
At 3:20 thats a Fiat Punto Mk3 ( though the 2 door MK2 is a lot " sexyer " )
Skoda in 60-70th use to make all sorts of heavy vehicles.
Actually everything you can think of to use in heavy industries Skoda was involved
They made buses, trucks, fire engines, heavy forest machines a lot of stuff.
LIAZ stand for Liberecke automobilove zavody in translation Liberec Car Manufacturer.....I couldn't translate it any closer (sorry if it's not completely spot on)
LIAZ was partner to Skoda
As far as my knowledge go
Have a good day
The old looking trucks are nowadays used by volunteer fire brigades.
07:30 Upgraded Škoda LIAZ 706 RTHP (over 40 years old)
09:10 LIAZ 101.860 CAS 25K (with Karosa cabin maybe 30 years old) Karosa was company which made a buses.
It was really great experience :)
LIAZ was very popular truck on Rally Dakar in 80's and 90's.
cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%A0koda_706
And Prague is full with modern Škoda Trams. Go figure. :D
1:10 - You should look more into Iveco stuff, you'd be even more amazed at the diversity of vehicles they offer, Ian. 😉
In Czechoslovakia Škoda and Liaz maked some car together. Therefor Škoda 706 have logo Liaz. Liaz is old producent heavy car. Liberecké automobilové závody (LIAZ).
6:50 LiAZ fire car with added extra Škoda logo. This brand does not exist anymore. This light short trucks were produced in today Czech republic, in city of Liberec - LiAZ means "Liberecké Automobilové Závody" - which in english means "Liberec Automobile/Motor Works"
In former czechoslovakia were produced a lot of brands
Škoda - still exist as a part of Volkwagen group
TATRA - formaly short trucks only with special axle, top production 15 000 trucks a year - now it survived its "Clinical death" and keeps on growing till 3000 a yaer - all special cars
TATRA cars - for polititions and top officers only - the best cars on former czechoslovak market - for top polititions only - does not exist anymore
AVIA - licenced from France - very light short trucks in more midications - production closed very recently

The title of your video "Bratislava - Yanco=(Janko ist Slavakia Name)"
The intervention of firefighters from Bratislava and its surroundings during the fire in Vinohrady, Bratislava - Rača. View of the 5-axle TATRA FORCE 10x10 CAS 40, which has three interconnected water reservoirs with lockable valves with a total volume of 20 thousand liters.
🙂"I was kind and translated the video title and description for you!"
The Iveco van line is build on frame and the dual rears are up to 7.2 metric tons vans (or more a trucks). which is much better for heavy utility use then regular 3.5t vans...
3:20 that little car is a fiat punto
That Tatra we see in 02:50 looks like that truck from General Daimos. A very old anime series where the protagonist would get into a car then drive it into a truck and it would probably turn into a transformer ; )
I practically understand them. Slovak language is the most similar language to Polish. And take a look at the intro to General Daimos. The nostalgia hits hard.
03:18 - this is Fiat Punto. Super popular in europe. Cheat and kinda good car. It's not that small like for example Smart. It's a size of VW Golf/Polo.
I'd like to see an American react to New Zealand trucks someday
LIAZ trucks. The "Škoda" emblem is found on some LIAZ trucks because LIAZ (LIAZ Agro) was a vehicle manufacturing company based in Liberec, Czech Republic, and it was a part of the Škoda Auto group. The Škoda name is a renowned brand in the automotive industry, and when LIAZ became a part of the Škoda corporate group, some of their vehicles were also branded with the Škoda emblem. That's why we can see some LIAZ trucks with both the LIAZ and Škoda logos simultaneously.
Pozdravujem z Bratislavy :-)
7:29 Skoda made even a Tractors
LIAZ means something like Liberec automotive company (its City in north of Czechia) they had škoda engines so there's logo
Skoda or Slovakian škoda is central europe largest automobile company owned by wolksvagen since 2000 Skoda firstly was maded Steam engine trains in Czechoslovakia and ironworking , After 1910 they started making Automobiles , tractors , combines , trucks , bicycles , electric veichles , ..... in 1939 they started making tanks and military gears in 1950 to 1965 they maded supercars and sprocars like the Skoda ohc 1001 and 1000 after that they maded cars like the Skoda 100 , Skoda Felicia , Skoda Octavia , etc...
Yo u have got some great knowledge of cars and trucks well done...
Thank you for the great video.
The iveco at the beginning, thats us 😊😊 never thought we will make it to US channel :D
nice stache
The old Skodas/LIAZ was Created by the Goverment by uniting 8 Truck manufactor in 1951 as a Skoda Subdivision and branded their trucks partly as Skoda, LIAZ or Skoda LIAZ. could be Skoda/ LIAZ 706 RTs (Build from 1957-1979 ) or 706MT (1969-1987) - I think it is a MT.
11.32 - Skoda Karosa Fire truck.
Skoda also make trams and locomotives ;)
First vehicle is belonging to volunteer firefighters
$:13 yes indeed Seat, and going by the uniform its some sort of police force. you can see them at the entrance in most shots
Volkswagen, Seat, Cupra, Skoda, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley and Ducati are all part of the Volkswagen group
I am from Slovakia
That looks like a small town somewhere in mountains, where people from capital Bratislava city never go to,really unless u are into hiking and such …
I was in those mountains today, and it was full of people from Bratislava - hiking, cycling, running or just enjoying the fresh air.
