- Damn! A Teacher. This show. Damn. Fucking messed me up. Literally. But it was soo good. This topic is so controversial, man. I don’t know where to start. Writing this description is prolly harder than making this video lol.
Passion and strong feelings in general make you happy but at the same time can mentally fucking ruin you for years. Especially when we talk about “inappropriate” relationship. Especially when someone is really young and immature. Was it really grooming like a sex crime? Idk man. He was almost 18 and clearly wanted her like crazy...it was consensual even though he was a couple months away from “legal age”.
I don’t see their relationship as something gross. It was trusting, passionate, and gave to both of them something they needed at one point. I believe they really loved each other. Maybe even still do, judging by their encounter at the store.
But because their relationship was illegal the responsibility was on her as an adult and at “the position of power”. She was the one breaking the law. But she played victim. Unintentionally of course but still. She didn’t even realize the damage she’s done to him. The guilt he was carrying all these years. Shit. Clearly this relationship ruined their lives. But what if it wasn’t for law? What if this had happened one year later? Could they have loved each other and been together and been happy? Oh sure!
Idk why she explained it to herself like she was escaping her marriage. Hell no. You don’t risk your life and freedom just for sex/out of boredom.
They really couldn’t control themselves around each other and in their case it was tragic. And I love this story for that. Even though my heart is broken. What’s your opinion on this? Please tell me - Розваги
Girl, is not only he was underage, it was that the maturity levels were really different. Thats why it affected him, they were in different places, and it wasnt love, he wanted to feel mature and validated, and she wanna to be young and crazy. He was the one with consequences cause he deal with a lot of things that he wasnt ready for.
But 17 about to turn 18 and at 0:29 he made the first move, also he asked to be tutored, at 1:27 he expressed his feelings for her,
and again at 2:09 and at 2:41 being seperated from her forever made him heartbroken, from 0:38 to 0:52 the way they look to each other they really like one another, him making the first moves and then at 3:06 i was just a kid at 17 so he has no blame?
He was the one with consequences cause he deal with a lot of things that he wasnt ready for.
Well no they where really inlove but given the circumstances a happy ending is not socially acceptable in the eyes of a ( large ) part of the audience so they wrote him doing a complete 180 which given the circumstances makes no sense at all.

@@spacelogic101whatif I feel like she’s still in the wrong here. Because regardless he’s still a kid. The whole point is that even if he thinks he’s consenting, he can’t. It’s her job as the mature adult to put a stop to it and set boundaries.

and then there is the fact that she cheated on her husband with him and he knew this that's really bad on their part they should be punished for that now he is hearth broken, paying alimony and or lost the house? we never found out what happend to him.
The age difference doesn't bother me at all. Her guilt-tripping him about her life being gone because of him made me furious, however. Eric really cared about her and if she truly loved him I would've supported this relationship but she doesn't really love him.
This show man... I barely got through it. It was so triggering and hard to watch.
In my HS there was this old ass teacher who was always inappropriate to girls, including me. He even married one of his students and his son was a year younger than me. This man was sick in the head. Everybody knew about him and we were all warned not to "tease him". When it was time for an oral exam he always made us stand in front of him and he always made messed up comments about the way we looked and if we want to do some "extra credit".
When I went to uni I found out he was finally being charged after a father of one of the students found his daughter in his apartment. This man was in jail for a short time and he was released soon after. I still see him sometimes.
If you have a crush on your teacher, please, leave it at that. Don't ruin your life. That trauma stays with you forever. You never get over it and it will affect your future relationships.

@@erinchilds from what I know, I think he came back to work cause he was close to retirement. All the teachers and the principal acted like nothing happened even though some of them used to warn us about his love for underage girls. Absolutely disturbing.

I had watched this series back in January and had totally underestimated how intense and heavy this show was on the head and found it heart-wrenching. I am not usually squeamish but this story pulled hard on my heartstrings and had me confused and conflicted after watching this. I am guilty of having mercy for Clare s character as it was difficult to watch both her and Eric s lives become so devastated and impacted by their relationship. I know she was the perpetrator in this and has the bulk of the responsibility on her being the adult in this relationship but had she been portrayed as an evil, vile, wretched type of woman it would have been easy to immediately dislike her and want to throw her to the wolves but she did have a very captivating personality aside from the obvious being she was a very attractive woman and also had a very human quality to her that appeared likable (from the male perspective mainly). The way the story was told felt very much like the attraction and feelings toward each other was too intense and beyond their control despite it being an obviously controversial relationship that the viewer could very well have rooted them along. It was very challenging, to say the least, to watch and try and form opinions but if there was at least one light at the tunnel as far as Clare was concerned was that she was able to rebuild a new relationship with her father and be there to support her and I thought it spoke large volumes of his character despite him not being the father she originally had wanted at first.
I found someone who thinks like me about it. But I also think Eric should have to accept some of the responsibility as well. He's old enough to get a fake ID, to be sexually active with other students, to drink and do drugs, so he knows what's going on. He started the situation when he kissed her and then pressed her to continue tutoring him after she said stop, but it ends with him saying she has to be as miserable as he is.
@@jasonneil4121 I agree with you that Eric wasn't exactly an innocent kid and his mind was quick and on the ball during different situations of this series and an example of this would be when he talked Clare's cop brother into calling her to bail himself out of getting a citation charge. When I make opinions on this series I want to state I am not seeing this from the eyes of law enforcement/educational system/ or a parent but rather just a random viewer but with that being said I found it difficult to be a judge within all of this since in the earlier episodes it was rather hard to see who was actually in control of who? There were times when Eric took charge and she listened giving him a balance of power within the relationship even though as the clandestine rendevous took place between them she was very adamant about covering their tracks and destroying any evidence in which they may be exposed but later subsequently happened but he did keep the secret concealed to the best of his ability. I also felt that Clare knew the high risks involved by doing what she was doing and had she been embarrassed or ashamed of having an affair with her student she would have denied it to her teacher friend when she coerced her into telling her who it was she was having the affair with despite all of her efforts keeping it a secret I think she wanted to share that happiness she felt with Eric with someone. This show is highly debatable and is not so black and white and I think it was done deliberately by the producers to invoke controversary and mixed feeling and opinions among the viewers in which in a real life setting we would never get to see the development of a relationship like this.
@@satanacuntfest i think she told her teacher friend because part of her thought she wouldn't say anything, and another part didn't care if she did. She said she felt trapped in her marriage and she was still messed up from her childhood too. Its a well designed show that makes you think, and we need more shows like this that can start discussions.
@@jasonneil4121 I disagree, Eric was a kid and she was an adult and their mentalities are different. You're brain isn't fully developed until your 25 and your impulse as a teenager/kid is different. Like Eric said Claire created those moments. She took advantage of him and abused her power over him. Grooming is a real thing and that is what she was doing to him.

It's not hard to wait a few months, if what they had really was that deep, especially for something as loaded as this. It is her fault in multiple ways. And I say this as a grown woman and a teacher.
Do not get into a student-teacher relationship, not in school, not in uni. It may look innocuous at the time, but the effects will damage you for life.
Yeah, i was in one too and it is just bad. I don't fell much anymore. So please listen to this man. It never ends well.

I’m a little late to the game because I just came across this show, binged watched all ten episodes. Damn what a powerful story. I know the producer’s intent was to show her as a sexual predator but they failed because this was an intense story of what society considers forbidden love. The love between these two characters was undeniable and why does society get to tell us who we can love. I felt heartbroken for them. Some films hit you deep, this is one of them. 😢❤
It was consensual they still love each other even after 10 years its obvious he said those things to hurt her like she hurt him when she turned him down when she got out yes they did commit adultery n should've waited til he guard but still I firmly believe they love each other n still do
She took advantage of him. He was 17 it wasn't love it was manipulation. He said that stuff to her because of the trauma that was caused and the lasting effects it had on him. It was heartbreaking hearing how long he hated himself and blamed himself.

Thank you for vidding them. I didn't know the show und now I watched it because of your video. I totally agree with everything you're saying. It's tragic but he was almost 18 and not a child anymore. In some situations he seemed like the adult and she acts like the teen. That was a little crazy. I could always understand her actions, however, she should never have agreed to run away together. That was the point where she actively ruined not only her life but also his. At that point, she shouldn't have been so selfish and should have finally taken the part of the adult.
Unfortunately, I didn't like the last episode at all. Everyone fell back into their old behavior patterns. Claire was in the next marriage, this time even with children. She still didn't seem happy. And Eric got involved with his ex again. And then the conversation in the restaurant 😥 Probably they didn't get a happy ending so that the story would be off-putting for the viewers. But even after all this time, you could tell they hadn't finished with each other. Maybe they should have just fought a little for what they really wanted...
But this is the real life truth.. it isnt fair that every show must have a good ending..

Hadn’t it been for the societal stigmatization they might have looked like an classic star-crossed couple. The chemistry between the leads is off the charts which makes it even more heart-rending. The lyrics are spot on, like hoping against hope. “I’d let you in, I’d let you win my heart again”

What he Meant by the relationship destroyed him he was kinda. Getting back at her for breaking his heart when she got out of jail n also she destroyed him by just that breaking his heart his love of his life it looks like n u never get over that

I watched this show as it aired and I felt NO sympathy for Claire she was/is the ADULT. Eric was her student and had a normal life before Claire came along and started messing with it. Most people when they have a mid life crises buy a motorcycle not fuck a minor! It made me mad how light her sentence was because female sex offenders get super light sentences because they’re hot and it was a “fantasy” it’s such a joke to make victims that Adam Sandler made a movie about it. Eric had to pick up the pieces of his life from his sexual intimacy to his confused feelings. He wasn’t able to finish school. Claire derailed his life because she wanted her teenage years back which is disgusting and selfish. She deserved worse but instead she tried to gaslight Eric when he FINALLY stood up for himself at the end and she has KIDS. Ew!

She shouldn't have gone to jail at all. The age of consent in Texas is 17. In most parts of the world the police wouldn't even get involved in this. She should've lost her job but other than that nothing.
@@Persei1 she “lost” her job because it was her first time teaching and she sleeps with a STUDENT. That’s a monumental betrayal of trust for the parents and the school.. and to Eric. No on older is thinking about the long term because when Claire is OLD. Eric will still be young and he would’ve missed out on life. I remember that Mary K case where she slept with a CHILD. A third grader and they got married. He divorced her when it all hit him. This is traumatizing and in the show Eric showed a snippet of that trauma from being hyper sexual and then sick. That’s why what Claire did was wrong and she did it for herself and no on else.

@@Persei1 he is a STUDENT. There is a power dynamic already off there. She is a fully grown adult who admitted she was being selfish and using him to “blow up” her marriage instead of simply asking for a divorce. And yeah in that case he was a 3rd grader and assaulted then groomed. Which is what Claire did in the show. It was subtle but she made Eric think it was his idea then blame the victim for her actions. She continued that til the end when Eric confronted her at that restaurant. She isn’t someone to be defended and neither are the real life female teachers and adults who do this to young boys and men. Same with male teachers who do this to girls and women..
Watched this recently. From what i have seen of real case,s this was quite accurate. Student always has no problem while affair is going on but suddenly becomes "damaged " when found out. Maybe it should also be a crime if the student is above the age of consent for them to get involved with a teacher and both suffer the consequences and they may then decide to keep it in there pants as the saying go,s
Yes, victims of grooming don't know that what they're doing is wrong or experience the emotional consequences until the relationship ends. That's a fucking no brainer

I think the story was developed and finished to make it unpleasant for viewers, but there's a lot that doesn't make sense.
My opinion is that she is almost entirely to blame for the simple fact of being the adult (30 years old guys). But in the last chapter I didn't like what Eric said to Claire. I felt that he never looked back and even if it was to show self-criticism, I mean that sometimes we look back and realize our mistakes, because to be wrong is not to be guilty. What they had was consensual, he wanted to do all those things, that's why I'm saying about his mistake, to at least take some of the blame, for convincing her to leave and even escape like that the next day, leaving her alone. At that time, she risked it for him and maybe at that time, with Eric's age, she wouldn't realize it, but 10 years later, either? Now the truth would not be so sure that they were in love, he was 17 years old, how much can you know about stable relationships at that age. She with a marriage that wasn't working, aftermath from having an alcoholic father.
My analysis would be that the relationship they had was an escape, how many things could a 17-year-old have in common with a 30-year-old woman? Even so, in the last chapter, at that lunch, I realized that something in the two of them had not finished yet, perhaps neither of them dared to take the step but I felt that there was some affection left. Maybe that's why it confuses me if they really loved each other or not.
It's a beautiful story with a tragic ending.
