My God.. how can a person express every millimeter of the vast spectrum of humanity , from the utmost, righteous , utter rage, to the softest, most fragile and vulnerable beauty.. ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ rest easy , sister.. hope u knew how inspiring u are
I never knew this version existed. A great performance by an extremely gifted singer who sneers, sings and screams throughout. What the world thought was cowardice in the 1990's is now looked upon as a great act of bravery. RIP Sinead.
To me one of the best outstanding tracks on her album apart from Troy…Mandinka & Drink before the War in my opinion! The songs were harsh, load, brash and angry and very personal
True she once said gay and transgender people were severely mentally ill and an abomination to God. Made her unpopular but she’s right except about the god part…there is no God
No that's her last album. She said she hasn't done anything for two years in an interview. So sad how's she's suffering. She has so many fans who love her yet she still feels alone.
I remember the first time I heard this song. Back in 1987 when it first came out. It gave me goose bumbs. The intensity and vehemence in the way she sang her songs. Especially this one! I became a fan at that moment. Still probably my favorite song of hers. And still gives me goose bumps when ever I hear it!
I love her. She is a brave and misunderstood soul. Bless her for her courage and conviction. I was in college radio when we received her first album "the Lion and the the Cobra". The minute I put the needle on that record (yes, this was BEFORE cd's), I was in awe of her talent and her fury. She was pissed WAAAY before Alanis.
I was there when John Maybury filmed this at the Dominion Theatre on TCR. The lion & the Cobra was her best album in my mind. It was angry, powerful and sharp! Jerusalem was all the above! It’s my favourite track on the album. Of note usually the 3rd track on albums are usually the strongest or main song! Hence Sinead put it there!
this is one of my favorite songs for it's raw power and emotion, but i had only know the album version of it. i am stunned. her strength, intensity, the words fail to do justice. others who can feel will know, and we are brethren. i have lived in her heart, in her head, in her skin. it is wondrous as it is terrible.
Reminds me of my time living in London in the 90s and trying to find myself. Listening to it now it reminds me of how far I've come in my life. Thanks Sinead 🙏🏾✨💫💫❤️🙏🏾👍🏾 You're very welcome.
Paz Rasgar. 🙏🕊👩👦🎶
Mine too. I collected every magazine article on her and got to see her around this time period of her career. Her voice was so strong, it didn't seem she needed a mic!
Agreed! no one can match her emotion, honesty, guts! Her voice and beauty are flawless! A tremendous artist that puts most to shame, including the wannabees from Idol.
✨🎶💫🌹✨🎶✨We were dancing to this album at the club's in the late '80's, and hats off to my friend at the time, Raphael, who would walk around on the college campus with me, singing this song. He reached the high notes pretty well. We all loved Sinead, and her songs, and music. Still do.✨🎶💫🎶✨🌹💫
I agree - I don't think Alanis could really hold a candle to O'Connor. Alanis's record never did a single thing for me, but Sinéad's yelps and screeches were real. I wore out my tape of "The Lion and The Cobra" in college. Yes, I'm also ancient. :)
beyond fabulous. beyond great. this brings back amazing memories for me. this video is raw and fierce. THIS MAKES ME FEEL PRIMAL AND TRUE. MY AUTHENTIC SELF. i love sinead. she rocks and i love her power. KICKASS VIDEO....yeah baby yeah
Me too! Nice to see another kindred spirit. I was the first person in San Antonio to play that album. Premiered it on my radio show in college. That album just blew me away. Still does.
Tá bron orm. I'm sorry. Is é mo chroí briste. My heart is broken 💔 Tá cara de mhuintir na hÉireann ar fad tar éis bháis. A friend of all Irish people has died. Tá mná na hÉireann mór agus cumhachtach, agus tá tú ar cheann de na fearr. The women of Ireland are great and powerful, and you are one of the best. Is breá liom tú an oiread sin, Iníon O'Connor. I love you so much Miss O'Connor (Shuhada' Sadaqat, her Muslim name means "martyrs of sincerity and truth" which is the perfect name for the martyr she was for Ireland) 🦁🐍 Nothing Compares to U
I wish today's musicians would not be afraid to stand up like she has for all the injustices in her world. The world is a sad place where we shy away from the realities of the world. Bless her for her courage to speak her own truth.
If Sinead knew that she was gonna be this beautiful after she shaved her head, she probably would'nt have shaved it.This is 1 woman that cannot run from her Beauty!
Remember when MTV was Great? When Alternative was Great? When Alternative Radio radio actually played great Music? This was the Peak before the 90's Collapsed what was Great. 120 Minutes was not flannel shirts and Sound Garden, I would stand there ready to record dpeche MODE, Inspiral Carpets, New Order, Erasure, Sinead, Book of Love . This first Record was mind boggling Great. 1988. Best year for music.
My God.. how can a person express every millimeter of the vast spectrum of humanity , from the utmost, righteous , utter rage, to the softest, most fragile and vulnerable beauty.. ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ rest easy , sister.. hope u knew how inspiring u are
The passion...the rage...the compassion. This is a masterpiece. How can this not move one spritually and emotionally?
Just one of the MOST BRILLIANT songs ever recorded. Fred, I agree with everything you said.
Exactly. 100%.
Amazing how contemporary this still sounds, so many years later.
RIP good lady
I never knew this version existed. A great performance by an extremely gifted singer who sneers, sings and screams throughout. What the world thought was cowardice in the 1990's is now looked upon as a great act of bravery. RIP Sinead.
I’ve watched this a thousand times. Pure brilliance. She’s so beyond amazing.
Rachel Quinn ye I'm not far behind you Sinead is brilliant this song WOW!
me too. i never get tired of this.
Yup
Indeed!!
To me one of the best outstanding tracks on her album apart from Troy…Mandinka & Drink before the War in my opinion!
The songs were harsh, load, brash and angry and very personal
This whole album is just so incredible. I rate it as my favourite debut album of all time.
Agreed.
Such a great album.
Jackie, Mandinka and Jersusalem at the beginning - a trifecta of raw power! Such a good record!!
But "Just like u said it would b" and "Call me Joe" are every bit as amazing ..
Sinead was right about everything and paid the price
True she once said gay and transgender people were severely mentally ill and an abomination to God. Made her unpopular but she’s right except about the god part…there is no God
Sadly, I've only discovered Sinead recently and this song tonight. I'm absolutely gobsmacked. Powerful is a gross understatement.
The cailin had a good pair of lungs and knew how to use them too. She could go from a menacing growl to a pitch perfect G5 in a heartbeat.
I was fortunate enough to see her at The Beacon in NYC when The Lion and the Cobra came out, it was unforgettable.
Me too in Cornwall. Still one of the best nights of my life!
We were there at the same time! Mandinka was the song that got me in to her . . . I think the Lion and the Cobra is still my favourite album.
weirdplanet108 I didn't drive my Mum made but i have driven my kids mad! We listen on school runs . . . My new favourite is "Reason with me".
No that's her last album. She said she hasn't done anything for two years in an interview. So sad how's she's suffering. She has so many fans who love her yet she still feels alone.
It was a shame. We have so far to go now to see anyone decent. I wouldn't have minded seeing Hazel O'Connor.
The most amazing voice I've ever heard.
such pure anger and passion, also THE VOICE
for me she's just untopable, best musician of all time
I remember the first time I heard this song. Back in 1987 when it first came out. It gave me goose bumbs. The intensity and vehemence in the way she sang her songs. Especially this one! I became a fan at that moment. Still probably my favorite song of hers. And still gives me goose bumps when ever I hear it!
Never expected this! Wow!
I like when a beautiful voice is used not to make something pretty but is used to point a finger or to say something hard....
ah nevermind
She did that so often. Very poignantly.
AN ETERNAL AWAKENING in the light and love, my dear Sinead...You did it as only you and nobody else...
Her first album was the best!!!
I bought it in 1987 on CD!!!!! Lol whatcha talkin' 'bout?
So so true - I never realized how much Alanis sounded like her!!!!!
Only sometimes is the 3rd track the strongest. I think it's clear Troy is her crowning achievement.
This is Sinead's Best Song.
This is the best version of this song by far. Her range, the band, the 90s visual effects….superb.
If you're going to be unhappy in life... this is the way to do it.
Just saw her last week...and her voice is still insanely amazing. WHen the gift is in your DNA, you always have it.
Awesome, wish this has been played more as I'd totally missed incredible song all these years
This is an excerpt from an entire concert that was filmed and aired on MTV’s 120 Minutes. Extraordinary. Thanks for sharing it.
The voice and the manic energy will forever be missed.
she is THE Singer/Songwriter of our time and she is so beautiful
Hear voice brings me to tears. Such a great talent. Love her just as much today as I did back then❤
Tami Figueroa ye me too sinead's amazing💚
Her debut is still in my top 5 of best albums ever made here in 2022. Doubt that will change.. Best female album by far..
Pretty sure this was the gig I was at. Seems like a lifetime ago. Brings a tear to my eye. She was truly amazing.
What an amazing singer songwriter! She has such control over her vocals...I mean up and down in seconds. Who can do that today. Not many.
this is one of my favorite songs for it's raw power and emotion, but i had only know the album version of it. i am stunned. her strength, intensity, the words fail to do justice. others who can feel will know, and we are brethren. i have lived in her heart, in her head, in her skin. it is wondrous as it is terrible.
Me too listening to all ten albums interviews and her public struggles its safe to say i know this precious woman and identify with her🙏
She's so primal. Great LP/CD.
This reminds me of my punk days. I love her energy and freedom in which she belts it out. Live it loud!
God bless Sinead...a true artist
Reminds me of my time living in London in the 90s and trying to find myself.
Listening to it now it reminds me of how far I've come in my life.
Thanks Sinead 🙏🏾✨💫💫❤️🙏🏾👍🏾

very different...very unique...sinead is one of the best female artists i admire since the 80's...iconic!!!
Strong as she can be. My teenage years.
me too
Laurinhassm Matuszak and me👍
Mine too. I collected every magazine article on her and got to see her around this time period of her career. Her voice was so strong, it didn't seem she needed a mic!
the best girl ever. great vocals too. i think we'd be lost without this bright gem
We are now 😢
Once in a lifetime. Voice ❤❤❤❤RIP 🙏 amazing lady. sinead!!
This is a live performance but made into a video type thing. I have this tape. Her strength comes through. She is amazing and I love her!
Agreed! no one can match her emotion, honesty, guts! Her voice and beauty are flawless! A tremendous artist that puts most to shame, including the wannabees from Idol.

30 years old sounds amazing, what a lot of energy
Non smetterò mai di amarla❤
This song is gritty and edgy! I LOVE IT!!! It's a song to play REALLY LOUD!!!
I agree - I don't think Alanis could really hold a candle to O'Connor. Alanis's record never did a single thing for me, but Sinéad's yelps and screeches were real. I wore out my tape of "The Lion and The Cobra" in college. Yes, I'm also ancient. :)
madamewoselle Fare dues, Alanis is still good!
I like them both . Sinéad can jump a octave in vocals!
Alanis is GREAT!!
What’s Alanis Morissette got to do with Sinéad O’Connor?
@@tom7979Cheap rip off of the original and her version of Mandinka.....pitiful.
No I changed my mind..... dreadful....short time!
beyond fabulous. beyond great. this brings back amazing memories for me. this video is raw and fierce. THIS MAKES ME FEEL PRIMAL AND TRUE. MY AUTHENTIC SELF. i love sinead. she rocks and i love her power. KICKASS VIDEO....yeah baby yeah
Sinead is my new addiction just can’t get enough of her
Billy Mcnamee👍 me too but I'm not a crazy creepy stalker honest I'm not😁💚
Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. I'm sad you couldn't find peace within it.
What a voice! xx
this is way better than the studio version, you feel her energy vibrating very heavy.
Yesss!!! She's straight up screaming!!!
RIP you wonderful woman. The flame that burns the brightest and so on.. ❤️❤️❤️
Her best song and video, by far. Haunting.
Brilliant person and artist. Rest in Peace.
Excellent artist.. Rest In Peace sister..🙏🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰🥰
She is in my opinion incredibly powerful and full of emotion..indeed: she rocks!
She is still amazing. She put just everything in her music.
30 years later still amazing and subject matter still relevant
Me too! Nice to see another kindred spirit. I was the first person in San Antonio to play that album. Premiered it on my radio show in college. That album just blew me away. Still does.

I love it ,this is a good song ,great voice !
I know what she went through because I went through the same, but in her case she fought back and I admire she for that.
What an amazing voice
I wish today's musicians would not be afraid to stand up like she has for all the injustices in her world. The world is a sad place where we shy away from the realities of the world. Bless her for her courage to speak her own truth.

Wow. I think I need to punch myself in the face after watching that. So powerful.
Fav singer, ever !!
It's not about the hair , it's about THAT voice and soul x
She is fierce ! 🔥🎵❤
If Sinead knew that she was gonna be this beautiful after she shaved her head, she probably would'nt have shaved it.This is 1 woman that cannot run from her Beauty!
Wonderful.
Just awesome. Love this track probably more than any of her others.
SO INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL
