Definitely. Very much [and in a good way] taking a page out of JHS for example. In this golden era of gear we are all so lucky to live in, at least for me, one differentiator is getting a feel for the pedal builders. To try and dissect the marketing stuff and attempt to understand really where they're coming from. Chris is really ideal and communciates his ideas and ethos very effectively. None of this mine is better than others garbage. Just "well, here's a problem and here's how I kind of decided to try and tackle it" attitude. Or "man, I want to make a pedal that I personally love and here's my take on it..." As Josh so astutely points out, you can't patent a circuit. But you can come up with interesting ideas on how to utilize those circuits. So in-depth interviews with pedal makers/amp builders is super vital and so very interesting. MORE, PLEASE CAP!
The Benson Preamp and Stonk Box are the heart of my studio board. I just recently added the delay, and it did not disappoint. Excellent pedals! I can’t wait to be able to get a Florist.
🤘👍🏿 So lovely. I bought my Vinny Reverb Combo from Andertons, because at the time you couldn’t get a Benson amp in Australia for love or money (which is kind of still the case). Great retailer for international purchases! Now I’m looking forward to adding the Florist to my Benson Amps pedal collection.
Great episode. Not a bad sound throughout. I will be adding a Benson combo and pedals to my rig. Captain, I am 100% certain that Andertons will have to increase their stock of Benson products.
Great guest/company, great interviewer (as usual) and a video overall! Thanks for sharing! PS - 45:27 was that an attempt at playing Albatross Overdrive?
1:07:30 and 1:08:49 Lee, you're talking about The Medium out of Nashville - a signature guitar sound. No idea how they get it up to now. It's like they run a Leslie, a delay or a chorus, and a flanger all together - Shane would be all over this.
Another great interview Lee and crew. Is it me or was it strangely ironic how at approximately the 34 min. mark Lee was talking about the love for the nature of tubes and silicon and all of a sudden the video image gets blurry? Better change the tubes on your camera! lol.
I love the comment the Captain made. He started out building because he was a poor musician and now he sells amps few people can afford. The guy didn't look amused when he said it.
I hope Lee leaves those Benson amps in the film room. Some of the best sounds I've heard in a loooooong time. Santa, you are on notice that I need one of these amps in December.
@@Bob-WhitingHumph… I’ve been “reliably informed” that a new amp is forbidden until we have a new bathroom! ☹️ So there’s a man coming on Thursday to measure up. 😊
Benson is one of those companies that you're going to be happy with what you bought. Yes, they're not cheap, but they're not rip offs, either. You actually feel like you get what you pay for. If you can save up or budget for a $250 overdrive, their Preamp is going to sound fantastic. The Boost is straight witchcraft. It adds something wonderful to your signal even at unity. It makes no logical sense, but set it at unity and toggle it off and on, and the signal just sounds better going through it. The fact that you can use it nearly anywhere in your chain to attenuate or... boost... the volume is very cool of course, as well. I put mine after my dirt and before modulation/delay/reverb. Sometimes the dirt sound requires gains to be cranked, and it's the perfect tool to send it forward with some attenuation. Relatively clean signals let you crank it back up. Those are the two pedals I have of theirs, and I would love to get more. They're just a cool business that does things the right way by their employees, their community, and their customers.
@@stoneysdead689 I think doubters assume that if you spend more, it's just for a logo or ego or something. And if they were right, that would be a rip off. And I'm sure there's some brands out there that charge a bunch for mediocre pedals. I'm giving my opinion that the extra you spend on Benson is 100% worth it. They're not just charging more for packaging or perceived prestige.
we love u and i respect so your worjs but nobodys say's your talk to much .... we wont earing the masterbuiler or is product not you ir cou boring storiesssssssssss sorry but i m little beat boring about your voice .... dude
That's why they have a channel for slow ppl like yourself- no talking, just playing- maybe you should go there- I know all of us would greatly appreciate it if you did.
Thanks for having me on Lee and Pete!
Thank you for calmly and precisely explaining your products!!
Recently purchased your Pre Amp and Germanium Fuzz pedals….WOW, great job!
Every time Chris appears somewhere I click on it and every time I learn something new. Thanks Lee and thanks Chris!
Love love LOVE these interviews with people in the industry. Thanks, Lee!
Agreed!

@@bleeknoir my god, that delay is gorgeous.
Great products. I was fortunate to have lived in Portland for a couple of years - great part of the world too!

The florist with a bit of dirt sounded lush.
Hell yeah🤘Portland Oregon gang!!
Seriously, these pedals - and amps - sound amazing. Now, I just have to win the Megabucks...
I Actually use the benson germanium and set it up in a way that gives a very amp like crunch for a Phenomenal AC/DC TONE

I made the right choice getting the germanium fuzz
PDX represent! ❤

Yo from Portland!
Can't afford a Benson Preamp... But my Perf Board Pedal sounds great ;P
I believe the Beatles would have loved the Florist. (Edit: 30 seconds later the Beatles are mentioned)
Lee is dying to ask can I get a usable chorus sound out of this? 😂
Captain that guitar and those two amps together your best sound ever or at least for today until you play something else lol
Thanks, Chris for every explanation… Better than the goofy JHS
I am that musician that can’t afford a real amp. ❤

Yeah, maybe a video on mastering the English language would be a better choice.
