  • This is a long POV video and I definitely struggled a lot, especially in a section called the XX Loop. I felt extremely out of shape for this type of technical XC trail. The different sections of the trail will be listed in the timeline below so if you want to go right to that section you can.
    1:09 - Beginner Loop
    7:30 - Intermediate Loop
    14:32 - I talk about the hub as well as the different options and what they have to offer.
    16:40 - X Loop
    19:02 - XX Loop Entrance
    21:18 - XX Loop
    30:08 - More talk about the XX Loop and bike type
    33:30 - Intermediate exit trail to trailhead

    Nice video Shad. I've ridden Leb quite a few times even back in the '90s. I have always characterized the trail as "harsh", especially the advanced sections. When you are done your body really feels it.

    Hey Shad, fair review of Leb but you should have reached out to some of the crew for some insight on the current layout. Our loop gets you to the best stuff early and you skipped a really good chunk of flowy trail.

    Leb is my favorite trail system in the metro that I've ridden. Some of the rock gardens in the black sections are not that fun, though they are challenging. I know Shad is a fan of Monarch. I was a newb when I rode it and the jump line had not been built. I'll have to make it there soon.

    Thanks for showing everyone around my home trail! You should put together a playlist of all these trail reviews so people can take a look at them all together. Murph next?

      I have them in a playlist. If you go to my channel's home page you will see Playlists. I have all of the trails under Trail Rides.

    Nice ride man. Love you talking about riding within your wheelhouse especially for those closing in on 60. I would rather ride the next day vs having to take a couple of weeks off because of a stupid decision on my part.

    "That is a lot shorter than I thought it was going to be." This happens every single time to me at Leb. You ride and ride and ride and the miles are never as much as it seems like they are at other trails. At one point you read how many miles you were at and I was surprised at how high it was. But in the end, not as much as you'd think. You made it over some hard rocks. I just skip the red loop after having tried it a few times and always end up walking sections. I'd rather ride my bike than walk it. ha. Cheers for the vid.

    Thanks for sharing Shad, I have never riden Lebanon Hills My bikes are 29+ rigids, but I would like to put suspension fork on one of them so I have a hardtail for more technical riding.

    Thanks for the vid! I feel your pain. I’m almost 53 and rode Saturday and Sunday for my first rides of the season. My chest hurts and my kidneys! What’s that mean?? 🤣

    I love Leb. It is a fitness check for me. When I can do 2 laps back to back I feel great. However, I don't enjoy the rock gardens. I find them unnecessary for fun, so I skip the red section but do the rest.

      Agreed. Pedal grabbers and I can't stand them either.

      Yeah, I skipped the XX Loop on my 2nd lap. I usually skip it, but wanted to show it in the video.

    Feel your pain, trying to get fitness level back after a rainy winter.
    Were you running your new 54t star ratchet set up, was it worth it?

    • @ShadLife
      @ShadLife  4 місяці тому +1

      I was. It's pretty good and I like the faster engagement. It's louder though, so maybe more Special Grease to make it more quiet.

      @@ShadLife I figured from the sound, sounds good IMO.
      When you get back in fighting shape bet you’ll clear those technical up hill a flat rock gardens no problem.
      After decades on my 100mm travel 71 degree head angle, V-brake XC bikes I recently got the same bike as you.
      Compared to my old bikes this Spectral 125 forgives a lot of sins and bad choices on roughish downhill,
      climbs pretty good too, bike is starting to feel not as big in the tight twisties and technical uphills the more I ride it.
      Once I get my fair weather legs and lungs back this new beast is gonna feel and fit like a glove.

  • @bud1lite
    @bud1lite 4 місяці тому +1

    So how do you like the 125?Thinking of getting this…Not big on jumps and all that ,I like climbing and technical type trails best lol.Opposite of most people but just me.

    • @ShadLife
      @ShadLife  4 місяці тому +1

      The 125 is long and slack and better suited for slashing berms and hitting big jumps. As for technical trails I think it makes things more challenging.
      For this type of riding I want a lighter, shorter, and more agile bike next time.

    • @bud1lite
      @bud1lite 4 місяці тому +1

      Ok,I need more of what they call down country style then.I do like smaller jumps and drops but not the crazy fast stuff.

    • @ShadLife

    Hey, if you have time - come ride WLMT in Lakeville. We don't have much, but we are more "jump/Feature" rich than many trails in the cities area (not including Paradise). I would love to get your opinion on our work and get some constructive criticism to help us build even more badass things!
