Correction: YHVH is the Judeo-Christian interpretation of The Abrahamic God under Old Testament Context within the Shin Megami Tensei Universe where Judaic Henotheism is the main driving focus that is supported through Christianity and Islam within the in-game Universe. If it were to also be based off of the Islamic interpretation within the Shin Megami Tensei Universe, then Angels are genderless sentient robots with no free will, Demons are their own radically separate class of supernatural creatures known as Jinns who have Free Will apart from Angels and not considered a rank you earn as “Fallen Creation”, and oh yeah The Abrahamic God is unimaginable/incomprehensible. Nothing is like unto Him is what the Quranic verse 42:11 dictates about WHAT The God of Abraham truly IS. Basically what I’m trying to say is that YHVH represented as a Giant Yellow Patrick Stewart within the Shin Megami Tensei Universe through the limited scope of Human Imagination can’t be The Abrahamic God.
Actually, this game's YHVH is accurate; this really is Satan for Yahweh is satan. I cant believe that im witnessing a video game thats naming all demons, fighting against each other.

YHWH, Yahweh, Yah, Jah, Jehovah, is actually an Egyptian moon deity who became Osiris and doesn't mean "I AM That I Am." In Hebrew "I Am That I AM" is actually "Ahih Asr Ahih."
+More Hero (MorHero) "Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh" is "I Am That I Am" in Hebrew. I AM does just fine too. So too does Jehova & Yehoshua. Yeshua = son of YEhoSHUA. But if people are confused over what name to call him, he/it knows this full well to be inevitable. So just as long as you know you're talking about The God of Abraham when you pray you're good to go. Or even just Almighty One, or Most High.
There is nothing connecting Osris and Judeo-Christian religion. I would like a source text for your comment. The Judaic Torah is written has section in Aramic, but there is no text stating "Ahih Asr Ahih" for Osiris.
I'm a Christian and I don't find this offensive, but I do fid this part of the game silly and frankly a let-down. Still a great game though, one of the better SMT games even after the others
The SMT games have there own mythos that takes from several believes and religions. YHVH here while seams to be the Christian God is much more inspired by the Demiurge from Gnostic texts. While the Great Will is what we would call the actual God of the universe.
Guciom The Great Will isn't the Judeo-Christian God, he's a pantheistic god, think like Spinoza's god, the Brahman of the Hindus, or the All of the Hermetics. As for the Demiurge, he is a separate demon which appears in the franchise.
DevilBuster Kaz The Great Will isn't the god of the Bible though, as I already explained he's a pantheistic god, he is the universe. If you equate the Great Will to your God then you are factually wrong, unless you all the sudden have converted to any one of the pantheistic religions I have mentioned above. He is not the God of the Covenant, nor the God of Jesus, that is YHVH. The gnostic Demiurge differs from YHVH in that the Gnostics believed that the Supreme God was the New Testament God while the Old Testament God of the Covenant was a separate one, the Demiurge. YHVH in SMT is both, much like the Christian God. He IS the Christian God.
We are literally arguing semantics though as I and the rest of the people on this thread are arguing the "meaning" (for a lack of a better word) of YHVH and his role in the franchise. YHVH does not take inspiration from any sources that are not mainstream Judeo-Christian other than Kabbalah (Jewish Mysticism) and other Abrahamic beleif systems. The point being that YHVH is an exclusively Abrahamic God. YHVH is not objectively evil, or atleast not meant to be. Kaneko says "And when I thought about which mythology served as the basis, I concluded that it was the Old Testament. Which means YHWH, the god of the Old Testament, is the basis for all the gods around the world, from a folklorists standpoint. Now, I would like you to know that in Megaten, YHWH is not portrayed as the embodiment of evil." Although I despise YHVH, Megaten isn't black and white enough to make a single charecter objectively evil, if one were a follower of Law then he would be the embodiment of good. The Great Will isn't a creator, he isn't sentient. He is the entirety of universe. He is more akin to a force like gravity than to a god. He is responsible for everything in only the way that he is the reason humans have Observation. The Great Will in the PS2 era of MegaTen is not referring to the Axiom, it's just another name for YHVH. The Great Will is the source of reality but he also is reality it self. There is a really good explanation on the /r/megaten subreddit: /u/bunkerman "Kind of. The confusing part is that in the ps2 games yhvh is called the great will, even though in SMTII they were clearly different things, and then iva elucidates on II. However, what iva does, seemingly to rectify the ambiguity is that satan says that if you become the new god, you in a sense become the great will of the universe. That might sound like a mishmash, but I think it is consistent. Namely, that the great will / axiom is meant to be seen as both transcendent, but also immanent. It exists before / is the source of reality, but it also is reality. it is everything within reality. So if you become the god over a universe, you are in a sense monopolizing and thus "being" the great will. Because its also the underlying spiritual matrix of reality. So if you pervade all of it, you are in a sense its moderator for your reality, and thus have reason to be conflated. So yhvh isn't inherently something tied to it in a way no other demon is. That's just a contingent fact of how the universes he rules tend to be arranged. He thinks he is a unique god who needs to exist as the embodiment of divine commands or whatever, so he has even more motivation to conflate himself with it. Since what it is is a pantheistic world essence, but in monotheism the only world essence is god himself, so yhvh wants to be seen as the face of infinity. Since all gods ultimately embody literal parts of the world, and what he embodies is in a sense this universal scale, he's not so much lying as he is being ambiguous. It helps to realize the kabbalic associations in mainline. In kabbalah, the ein sof is the true essence of divinity, but nothing can be said about it. The body of god in the world is called adam kadmon, and is the highest form of god anything can be said about. But adam kadmon is a limited mode of god, not the true essence of ineffable infinity. In-game, this is how yhvh in essence thinks about himself. As the limited reflection of infinity. Its not literally true in a way unique to him, but its kind of true in a vague way that conflates his literal power over the world with the ideology he represents in which he functions in that kind of role. Of course, the great will isn't really meant to be an entity proper, whereas the ein sof kind of is, but even so. In kabbalah its not treated like one, since nothing can be said about it. This ties in to SMTI and nocturne. In SMTI lucifer calls himself a part of god that god discarded. In nocturne, they talk about fighting the great will, but lucifer drops the bomb on you that the supreme power of darkness was created by the great will. In both cases there is reason to treat this as a play on words. Namely, he is pointing out that all things, even the chaotic / dark part of reality have some of the essence of divinity in them, but the orderly part, here represented by yhvh is monopolizing divinity for itself, and cast them down. So the play on words here is that yhvh and the great will are being conflated for a specific reason. The gods aren't totally separate things from the great will, but -all- things are in essence parts of it. But how that is structured can change. Its kind of like in hinduism how everyone is part of brahman, but only shiva (and vishnu or whoever else counts depending on the form) are treated as the literal embodiments of it. Except here its playing with the ambiguity, because who monopolizes the right to conflate themself with it is not set in stone. Yhvh is in power now, but its not inherently true that he is."
If this got officially localized in the 90s, the backlash this would have gotten might have made the series more popular.

YHWH, Yahweh, Yah, Jah, Jehovah, is actually an Egyptian moon deity who became Osiris and doesn't mean "I AM That I Am." In Hebrew "I Am That I AM" is actually "Ahih Asr Ahih."
+ThatGuy Osiris had nothing to do with the moon and "Ahih Asr Ahih" is Arabic not Hebrew.
John Smith Equating Osiris the "moon god" with Yahweh was just ignorant. Maybe Amun or Ra (definitely Aten) but not Osiris.
