Yes safety first he is using a crane and not a wrecking ball or piece of construction equipment also why are they demolishing a 120 year old factory/building doesn't anyone ever care about history or renovating an old building and giving it new life
Yes, he is probably paid by the hour. It does seem slow but building demolition is done methodically for several reasons. Safety of course is a big one. Another thing to consider is the different materials involved. Concrete and bricks wont be accepted at the the same location as other building materials. Metal and steel needs to go to a recycling place to be sold. You could knock it down much faster but spend way longer picking out bricks and such sorting materials to be hauled off. Another thing to consider is if the operator damages the machine, he probably would not be paid while waiting on the machine to be repaired. While the operator in question probably is paid by the hour, the demolition job was probably bid on. The demolition company would not keep the operator around if he was not efficient.
WTF is the demo contractor doing using a 0.5 million pound/dollar crane?! I would initially suggest "lowest bidder" but not with that bit of plant!! Unbelievable!
No idea. I was hoping to see a wrecking ball. They saved all the wooden beams and reused the bricks (after crushing them) to level the ground. So, maybe they did it this way to save the beams.
Never understood why anyone charged with demo work would start at the top. Isn't everything held up by the bottom? A few well placed blows would save this fool several days of work.
Wrecking a building with a hydraulic crane is like painting with a spoon.
it is going take them 120 years to tear it down
I was on the edge of my seat
This is about as exciting as watching paint dry !
lolol its very slow isnt it !!!
At the rate that crane operator is going he will retire before the building is down.
The crane will break before he retires. It's absolutely completely utterly not fit for purpose!!
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
He actually finished in about 3 weeks! He went slow for safety reasons.
Is there a reason why the equipment operator was so slow in his efforts to demolish the building? Is he paid by the hour?
exactly my thoughts to! milking money only!!!

Not a operator problem it is bad management problem. No one in there right mind would use this machine in this operation
I think he is afraid of ruining the bricks lol

It's going to take 120 years, to knock it down !
Makes me embarrassed to be a heavy equipment operator. Horrible abuse on what’s clearly the wrong piece of machinery for the job at hand.
I know - he has 90 days before retirement
Nice video. Any idea why they are using a crane instead of a long reach excavator for this?

3 stooges demolition company hey moe where curly up here
i am pretty sure this is a very safe way of doing this, but it sure is a slow way of doing it.
When you look at that you can sleep
He will never complete it in his working life.
How did that song go by Jonny Cash..i got it 1 brick atta time..FFS thats this ops song...
Did you get any more recordings of.this building?
Yes, there is more, but I haven't got around to doing anymore. I have 5 hours of footage.
Nice!!! I really enjoy watching the bricks fall.
Man that's going to take years at that rate. Just push the shit over geez
man schlaeft ganz schnell ein!!!!!
Painful to watch
sure do not understand this technique! Unless you are getting paid by the hour! ;-)
