Hey Laura, fellow driver here with 35 years driving coast to coast, just a couple suggestions to improve your skills. 1] don’t coast across railroad tracks, just in case doodoo happens ya don’t wanta be stuck in the middle and not be able to get in gear. 2] on corners also pick the gear that lets you go 15 to 20ish before you start the corner that way ya won’t end up stopped 1/2 way around (ask me how I know😂). Try also to get in the habit of releasing the trailer brakes before the tractor, this way you can see (by watching the air supply) if it takes a huge amount of air for the trailer brakes to release (helps find leaks or brakes hanging up).
Good driving. Pro tip - you need to preselect the high range on the transmission. When you select in neutral between shift it will burn out the synchronizers in the back box. Ask me how I know....25 years fixing these things......
Laura Big Tip for you, you need to have truck in gear when going over railroad tracks so that you never get stuck on railroad tracks. Love your channel. And I have about 2 million miles as a truck driver
One of those "quickie oil change" places did that to my hemi challenger, it didn't leak while it was running but I had to get towed home from work in the morning since the parking garage called the fuzz on me for trying to fix it
My Dad was a long-haul driver as I was growing up, and then he went into truckstop management, and I worked in the tire shop and roadside service, so you could say that I've got diesel fuel in my blood and DNA. Love all of your videos and I am looking forward to seeing your next one!
Laura if you get a short piece of rope to hook onto handle it will allow your little body to lean back further and this will give you more leverage. Love the channel and all 3 of you.
Laura's zeal for life and all things agricultural is an absolute pleasure to view the videos. I literally find it uplifting and look forward to each new video. Thank you! 💥

Good morning Sunshine! Just a suggestion, when you change the oil, fill the cartige before putting the new one on. It's +1 qt in volume and helps eliminate a dry start on the engine while it fills with oil. I love driving with a Jake brake! Love the function and the sound 😉 Have a blessed week and I'll see you on the next one. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.

I believe your Peterbilt drain is a quick drain. Push it up then a 1/4 turn will lock it in a drain position. when drain is complete a 1/4 turn in the opposite direction to release.

I was curious about CDL, so Googled it. In Nebraska, persons over 21 (family and employees), driving a Farm Plate truck, hauling product or supplies/equipment to or from the farm - are not required to have a CDL. So probably no test. Laura, Great job driving, and shifting the non synchronized sliding clutch transmission. The transmission is an Eaton Fuller roadranger 9 speed overdrive. There are two clues to determine that. Number one is the abbreviation ’RTO’ in the top right corner of the shift plate. That stands for ’Roadranger transmission w/overdrive’. The second, more obvious clue is that 3rd and 4th gear positions are swapped from a traditional 9 speed. 8th gear (your top gear) is not ‘direct drive 1:1 ,gear ratio but your output shaft ‘overdrives’ your input shaft with about a 1.1:1 ratio.

If you want to keep those airbags working, when you uncouple, place the dollies about 1 inch above the ground, and deflate the rear airbags allowing the trailer to rest on the ground. Reinflate once out from under the trailer. Just reverse the process to couple.

Maybe an OCD thing, but I always used fresh oil to wet the gasket instead of used oil. The method of filling the vertical filter with oil first has both proponents and detractors. (Center of filter has the clean, filtered oil - if you introduce debris from the shop pitcher it goes directly into the moving parts.) Always keep shop pitcher and funnel covered (shavings & grinding dust.)
Laura, while certainly a personal choice, you might TRY for a few work sessions some of the nitrile gloves for mechanics when doing shop work. Certainly takes some getting used to however does save the skin.
I remember the late 1970s, I was 14 years old with no driver's license, driving the worst heavy trucks (trashed GM Generals with a 427 gasoline engine) hauling grain and cotton for local farmers. TX DPS and local LEOs DGAF.
I don't know if Laura has completed the new video editing course, but the quality of your videos has gone to a higher level. I miss the old vlog vibe a bit. However, the current ''film'' style conveys more, for example, technical information. I've been waiting for your videos every week for 3 years. Greetings from Poland, where the corn harvest is long gone :D If anyone is not satisfied with the sound of the engine, I invite you to watch my video, but nothing beats the exhaust brake in Laura's truck :D
There is a way to pull the oil plug without getting oil all over your hands, and it requires minimal setup. Place your shopvac in the engine bay and poke the hose into the oil fill hole. Use some tape or a rag to minimize the leakage. Now when you pull the plug, air will be drawn in rather than oil gushing out. When you are ready for oil flow simply unplug the vac! Thanks for sharing!

You need a short rope hooked to the hood handle to extend your weight more horizontal.
It's harvest here in Western Australia! Love seeing the grower community so strong world wide!
Laura when you have a vertical oil filter fill the new filter with oil before installing! This puts oil in the motor immediately after starting!
Watch out!
Laura is setting a new trend in nail.. 6:19
Oil Surround!
LAURA NICE TO MEET YOU YOU ARE VERY GOOD ON EVERYTHING YOU DO I RESPECT YOU AS A TRUCK DRIVER AND I LOVE THE KIND OF WORK YOU DO I GROW UP IN THE FIELDS IN CALIFORNIA AND ARIZONA IS NICE TO SEE YOU DOING IT I WISH YOU THE BEST GOD BLESS YOU
True elegance, just so right.
You should preselect high range in fourth gear before you shift to fifth. Don't select high range in neutral. Same thing down shifting preselect low range in fifth gear then shift down. It makes the transition in the trans easier. Great job though KEEP ON TRUCKIN!!!
Have a fantastic Family Thanksgiving!!!
Nice driving today 😊 At least it gave ya something different too do
It looked so peaceful out there 🙂
It’s crazy to think you’re going into winter & over here in Australia, we are going into summer next month 😉
Thank you Laura & Grant for your UA-cam channel 💕💕💕💕💕

Hey laura I’m happy to say that you have improved your skills as a truck driver. I would also like to say happy thanksgiving to you and your entire family and crew. Stay safe out there. Really appreciate and enjoy your videos!!
Laura,
Great job driving, and shifting the non synchronized sliding clutch transmission.
Laura, you and Grant have a run nice co-op together and reliable helpers.
love the video guys. laura you and farmer grayce make those truck cabs look so much nicer . grant and gage nice job! hello pepper! david from arkansas.
The opening scene!
👍
Perfect lighting!
Straight out of Hollywood!
Such a cool morale builder that the people at the grain place gave lunches to their truck driver partners.
So natural, I’m in awe.
If you want to keep those airbags working, when you uncouple, place the dollies about 1 inch above the ground, and deflate the rear airbags allowing the trailer to rest on the ground. Reinflate once out from under the trailer. Just reverse the process to couple.
Your videos are very good! I'm watching them all! I'm learning English, so the videos help me learn to listen.
Well I can say without a shadow of a doubt you just have to doggone much fun is good to see a girl pick up a wrench it's good to see you drive down the road in a semi it's just amazing what women can do if they get the right coaching to know what to do and how to do it and do it well and it is very evident in your case good job Laura good job Grant keep it up I'll keep following you always put a smile on my face 🤠😎🤠
Hello beautiful, I've seen quite a handful of your comments on my post and I just wanna go out of my way to appreciate those people whose comments and good wishes encourage me and I hope to bring you guys so much entertainment, if you ever wanna talk we can have a conversation on here ❤
Favorite, funny t-shirt I saw as a kid... "Peterbilt. How's Yours??" nice rig,
Maybe an OCD thing, but I always used fresh oil to wet the gasket instead of used oil.
@@jeffreybassett9918 yes sweetie oil can be absorbed through the skin, surgical gloves work the best and can be trash afterwards
These kids are too young to pay any attention to PPE.
Greetings from Poland, where the corn harvest is long gone :D
If anyone is not satisfied with the sound of the engine, I invite you to watch my video, but nothing beats the exhaust brake in Laura's truck :D
Write the date of the oil change on the oil filters and fuel filters takes some of the guess work out of it..
Can’t wait to see her family to go with little one learning the ropes
Next year’s harvest I’ll come out and visit and drive for ya. Always up for something different 👍
Thanks for sharing your life with us, Laura... appreciate it!
See! I knew that the Battery Bandit is a gentleman, being sure that the battery is up to full charge, sparing Laura the embarrassment.
That's the way to be Grant, a gentleman through and through
Laura you don’t need to gain weight. You are perfect. This is a job for your husband. I know you want to be independent but sometimes all of us need help. Laura you are doing a great job driving that semi. I used to be independent also until I lost my health. I had to humble myself to ask for help because I wasn’t able to do alot of things I used to do. Laura I love your program! God bless and take care!😊
Hello beautiful, I've seen quite a handful of your comments on my post and I just wanna go out of my way to appreciate those people whose comments and good wishes encourage me and I hope to bring you guys so much entertainment, if you ever wanna talk we can have a conversation on here ❤
Make sure the old oil filter seal is not sticking to the block otherwise you will have oil spewing all over after putting on the new filter.
Laura,
I can’t help but admire your work ethic and I am proud of all those who are the backbone of America. The farmers of the heartland are an inspiration to me and I thank you for your work and smiles! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍👍
I can say that I can drive or operate anything with wheels or tracks, and there's nothing else in the trucking industry I haven't pulled or done, which you your heading there 😊😊 wait till you try an 18 speed trans or a duplex or triplex p.s. I like the fact you're floating your trans.Great job,Laura
Happy Early Thanksgiving from Charleston,SC ! God Bless Our Farmers ! Great video !
Fill the new filter with oil.... best method
I'm a big fan of seeing older equipment still being used and not sitting to rot
The RPM gauge is called a Tachometer.
Laura, Laura. You should always use fresh oil to lube the oil filter gasket
Great video. Lovely old truck. Hard working beautiful yong lady. Greetings from the netherlands for you and your family. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
