I actually brought a bunch of plushies to the thriftstore one day.. I see it like this, some other child might be very happy with it ^^ Toy Story 3 so to say.. I also let some kids pick a plushy for free at a garage sale at our house. I was sad, giving them away, but the kids were very happy with them ^^
i've had that phone case for a year, its wonderful, cost $12 and under on ebay, has a wire frame that keeps your phone in place and a hole for the charger and audio jack. let's you choose the correct size for your phone model too. mine's a samsung galaxy note, which is huge but they make them for iphones too.
pros: you never lose your phone, your phone will never break if you drop it, it's a million times easier to hold and take selfies.
you look special out in public.

I had one of these my freshman year of high school (got it for around $5 on eBay). It definitely came in handy during spirit week with pajama day. Had my phone out all day and my teachers didn’t know because they thought it was part of the look.
Definitely extra af, but still fun! I ended up giving it to my sister (who LOVES it and uses it)
it came out out adorable haha :D but I can see it being embarrassing to use too haha :P

This is perfect for cosplayers. They can have their phone on them and it's a cool add-on
It could get even better if it could be made with something of a panel/coverup to close when you're not using your phone, so that it would look like a normal teddybear and noone can see theres a phone in the back of it 😂

I think actually it's really good that you used the pvc instead of something like canvas or denim because you didn't have to worry about fraying edges, and also, it probably would stretch less than either of those fabrics would have (esp. on the bias). Loved this project!

As a Build-a-Bear employee my heart broke a little when you cut open the poor bear. But! I kinda loved the result. Note that I don't have any shame anymore when it comes to carrying around bears, so I could be tempted to do this IF I ever find a hard case for my type of smartphone. My colleagues would be so jealous!
was the charging port and headphone jack still accessible or would you need to take the case off to use them?
+ParisTheGhost Yup! It is, because the PVC lining (or whatever you choose to make it out of) is flexible, so it's easy enough to slip the headphones and charging cable in there, as long as you don't glue over the top of them :) They're both accessible on my phone still!

What people don't realize is that you are for ethical fashion. So to everyone saying you can get it on ebay or Aliexpress for cheap, that isn't ethical. The people that make those work in sweatshops and are paid horribly. (Which is why I have stopped buying much from Aliexpress and Taobao)
ALSO NOT EVERYONE HAS AN IPHONE. I have an obscure phone so this is perfect for me, since you can get a plain case for any phone! :)

And they get paid next to nothing and work horrible hours and in dangerous conditions. People don't want to have them lose their jobs, but they want to get rid of sweatshops in the first place!
sweetsamgirl But I mean Forever 21, Gap, Victoria's Secret, etc have all been involved with sweat-shopping. It's not going to do anything by just not purchasing the products. I guess I'm just saying that we shouldn't try to get rid of sweatshops; instead, we should try to get them to improve their conditions and pay and everything.
+Shelley Wang Annika doesn't shop at any of those places. She buys from places she knows are ethical, thrift shops, and independent little shops.
Like I said, I'm NOT exactly ethical (Although I'm trying more to be). ANNIKA is. She knows way more about this than me. Her blog is pineneedlecollective.com and there is an ethical section explaining things, I believe.
The point of this series is not only to recreate things for cheaper. It's also about, as much as is possible, re-using materials that already exist (and not create the demand for new resources), AND also to stop supporting unethical practices like sweatshops. In both garment and toy-production (and basically anywhere where sewing takes place), the majority of workers (like 80 - 90%) are women, so this is not only a human rights issue it's also very important to me as a feminist that I don't support factories that exploit (mainly female) workers. If a phone case is $5, it's probably been made in a sweatshop, by a woman around my age. Or even by a child, forced into labour. I would never ever be happy knowing that I'd contributed to that.
The issue of sweatshops is very complicated, but it's also a cop-out to say that you might as well support them because otherwise the workers won't have anywhere else to go. Consumer power actually can and DOES change how brands utilise factories and how much they care for/pay their workers. For example, brands like Topshop, H&M and even Cotton On brand, who used to be notoriously BAD, have seriously stepped-up and changed their practices and are working towards implementing living wages at their factories BECAUSE of consumer pressure. So choosing not to shop at places like Forever 21, and letting them know why you're not shopping there, can actually cause real change.

I think this is one of those things where you have to have a funky style to really like it and not have it feel odd. XD It looked awesome though and I would have loved to have had something like that during school so I could cuddle it between classes. :) (and have an excuse to have a teddy bear at school.)

If nothing else, it's a fun way to snuggle with your phone. I sleep with stuffed animals around still, so having one with my phone in it and right next to me as my alarm clock would be really neat, actually.

I bought a similar case about three years ago, mine was a genuine hello kitty plush i go it from the distributors so it was about 8 US at that time. I was self aware of it at the beginning but after a few hours i got used to showing it off in public LOL
