This game was actually a masterpiece. It has been the BEST Sonic Franchise game for a long, long time and I am stunned how good the writing has been for a series that otherwise doesn't do too great. It has hit every single checklist of being a great story. I can't believe that they managed to make Shadow such a badass by making him run a gauntlet of foes that Super Forms have been needed to beat in the past, like Metal Overlord and Doom - whats more, the fact that Mephiles, a minor God, was capable of knowing he was a memory existing in a broken version of a deleted timeline is insane. Such a good plot point.

Well at least to a degree, this version of Gerald maybe. Given the fact he had already inevitably made gave the black arms a reason to invade earth by the time the shadow the hedgehog game came out. Intentions were good, but nonetheless his actions came with some unfortunate consequences

I think Shadow has both said bye to Maria and Gerald in his own way and also that he actually suffers a lot from it also because it's not that he couldn't save Maria, it was really her who sacrificed herself once again and this time for the whole world and Shadow felt once again like he failed to save her but which he didn't moreover, as Maria also said, he knows that one day they will see each other again but at the moment fate is separating them and in the meantime she will always be in his heart
The moment you see their Body’s are fading, you remember that they must go back to their timeline because the Time Eater caused all this, he must be destroyed alongside Dr Eggman & Robotnik.
They didn't even bother giving us a version of "Without You" during this cutscene, I really wanted a full version of that song, even during the credits, meh SEGA! But I do absolutely love this cutscene regardless! Maria getting to actually say goodbye to Shadow and Shadow being allowed to cry. I love it!

While my heart breaks for Shadow, I think getting to spend time with Maria and Dr. Robotnik helped him; even if it was for a short time. Also, I think in a way, they knew they were dead in Shadow’s time.

In Frontiers Sonic had unloacked new abilities, in future Games they could pull out a mechanic that would let Shadow awake them.

A great closure for shadows end of the story. It’s sad that Gerald and Maria had to be taken away from him again. But they left a message that may have changed shadow in the future of his story. Maria saying “if fate draws us apart, I will always be in your heart” since after this game he doesn’t talk much about Maria and Gerald. Probably since he’s gotten the closure he needed to let go knowing Maria lives in his heart forever. Neat factor is that rouge here is the second Sonic character besides Amy. To have seen the vulnerable side of shadow, this may lead to the fact after this game they’re more closer to each other in some sort of way.
This game has a lot of references to the comics. That quote from Maria sounds similar to what her diary version said. Hell, they even disappear similarly to how they do in the comic. Well done SEGA. This might be the best thing theyve done since Sonic generation. They way theyve integratted the story of Shadow fighting the Black Doom and Sonic about to fight the TIme Lord is amazing.

I know I have probably spoiled myself big time watching these cutscenes but then again, I know the original and I know the games around it. I definitely enjoyed Shadow's openness and happiness here, way more than "Edgy the Hedgy" because even if he couldn't change Maria's fate, he was still true to his character.

I was playing with the JP dub and wow, Kirk's performance was really underwhelming in the last few min. Koji Yusa knocked it out of the PARK as usual, and Shadow's animations showed that Kirk's meanwhile is just.... weak here. Which is so funny cuz like... even the lip sync isn't right. Like it was made for JP
You do realize that Time Eater is Dr. Eggman and if he sees Black Doom he had to put aside and make a truce with Sonic gangs to stop him and if he knows that his grandpa and cousin is there he would be shocked for what he done removing them from the timeline. Unless he unintentionally want to erase his family lost but that preposterous when it comes to time travel.
I really like the Sonic Generations' graphic and animation that look even as good as Sonic Forces, the Modern Sonic 3D game CGI non-gameplay cutcenes, and some of the last Kingdom Hearts games' graphic and animation! But why are the Sonic's birthday party cutscenes' graphic from Shadow Generations still look like the same graphic and animation quality as Sonic Generations' graphic and animation?
Am I the only one who thinks shadow has the worst treatment in the whole franchise? He has guilt for not saving Gerald and Maria, he practically has nightmares about the entire thing and flashbacks in his dreams making him sad, now he had to see them both fade away with not having the ability to save them again. #PoorShadowTheHedgehog
I love everything about this game so far! My one and only critique is Rouge’s voice, not that I have anything against the voice actor. I think she even did a great job in Dark Beginnings. I just need her voice to dig a bit more. The way I see it, there are 4 main voice calibers in the series. Cream the Rabbit is a high soprano 1, Amy Rose is a more mature soprano 2, Blaze the Cat is at a lower mezzo range, and Rouge the Bat should be a deep alto. We already have 3 generally high female voices and a lower one would counter that nicely. As Mama Odin from Princess and the Frog said, she’s gotta dig a little deeper. Anyway, that’s my take on it. Just know that if you are ever unsatisfied with a character’s voice, it’s not entirely the fault of the actors, but rather the directors that are telling them what to sound like. We saw what better voice direction and scripting did for Sonic’s and even Amy’s current voice actor in Frontiers as well as Shadow now in Generations, so I know the same could be true for Rouge’s current actor.
Somebody please for the love of god. Contact sega and tell them to fix rouge with a different voice actor. It sounds like amy rose pretending to be rouge. There's no improvement in her voice ever since she took over the original voice actors role. At least with shadow current voice actor i see improvement in how he trys to make the manorisms and sounds of shadow's voice his own while still grasping the original idea of it. I cannot say the same for rouge.

He deserved to see Maria one more time as well as she was also his "sister" too and no doubt hurting about the whole thing just like Shadow =( Would have been nice closure for everyone and could finally put shadow and abraham on good terms. And yeah especially like you said that HE called Gun that led to Maria's death. Abraham deserved the chance to say sorry to her and gerald...oh god now im crying ='(

You do realize that Time Eater is Dr. Eggman and if he sees Black Doom he had to put aside and make a truce with Sonic gangs to stop him and if he knows that his grandpa and cousin is there he would be shocked for what he done removing them from the timeline. Unless he unintentionally want to erase his family lost but that preposterous when it comes to time travel.

I really like the Sonic Generations' graphic and animation that look even as good as Sonic Forces, the Modern Sonic 3D game CGI non-gameplay cutcenes, and some of the last Kingdom Hearts games' graphic and animation! But why are the Sonic's birthday party cutscenes' graphic from Shadow Generations still look like the same graphic and animation quality as Sonic Generations' graphic and animation?

He has guilt for not saving Gerald and Maria, he practically has nightmares about the entire thing and flashbacks in his dreams making him sad, now he had to see them both fade away with not having the ability to save them again. #PoorShadowTheHedgehog

I love everything about this game so far! My one and only critique is Rouge’s voice, not that I have anything against the voice actor. I think she even did a great job in Dark Beginnings. I just need her voice to dig a bit more.
The way I see it, there are 4 main voice calibers in the series. Cream the Rabbit is a high soprano 1, Amy Rose is a more mature soprano 2, Blaze the Cat is at a lower mezzo range, and Rouge the Bat should be a deep alto. We already have 3 generally high female voices and a lower one would counter that nicely. As Mama Odin from Princess and the Frog said, she’s gotta dig a little deeper.
Anyway, that’s my take on it. Just know that if you are ever unsatisfied with a character’s voice, it’s not entirely the fault of the actors, but rather the directors that are telling them what to sound like. We saw what better voice direction and scripting did for Sonic’s and even Amy’s current voice actor in Frontiers as well as Shadow now in Generations, so I know the same could be true for Rouge’s current actor.

Somebody please for the love of god. Contact sega and tell them to fix rouge with a different voice actor. It sounds like amy rose pretending to be rouge. There's no improvement in her voice ever since she took over the original voice actors role. At least with shadow current voice actor i see improvement in how he trys to make the manorisms and sounds of shadow's voice his own while still grasping the original idea of it. I cannot say the same for rouge.

That boy was commander Abraham. Honestly i wish he was more involved in this story too. He deserved to see Maria one more time as well as she was also his "sister" too and no doubt hurting about the whole thing just like Shadow =(
