I find it neat that he knows he doesn’t exist in the main timeline any more and is working to come back.
I know right, I'm glad that he was aware of it too. It made him sound so desperate and angry that he was possibly planning this while thinking about Iblis
He has the power to travel through time, I'm sure he will find a way to enter the main timeline
@@Omega-jg4oqHe can't travel back in time if he never existed in said timeline. Like to time itself he NEVER existed.
Yep, and beating Shadow was the only way he could get back in timeline which is why he tried to sneak attack Shadow like he did Sonic.
@@JaxsonEvans-pw2ff well, Generations can bring the whole timeline thing together and make it possible
To Mephiles, this rematch with Shadow was his best chance of returning to the timeline.
To Shadow, this was just another bump on the road.
4mins at that made quick work of him probably even faster if it wasnt for the game controls
Mephiles has none of that fake charm he used in Sonic 06 it's just pure anger and fear and hatred towards Shadow he's scared of Shadow beating him because that means he won't exist he's desperately fighting harder than he's ever did in 06
I mean he's fighting for his own existence at this point.😂
that's the power of Dan Green
I really love how they handled Mephiles here. He is clearly the only character in Generations overall that is completely aware that he only exists in the void, and that his sudden chance to return only happened cause of Black Doom. And he’s doing his damnest to make sure he defeats Shadow to not waste what could be his only opportunity. You can hear it in his voice, especially near the end, when he is full of desperation and fear. A far cry from his manipulative, fearless former self. Kinda makes you feel bad for him, though he clearly had it coming. Props to the team for making Mephiles’ surprising return truly a spectacle.
I know Mephiles is evil and all but that ending made me feel bad for him. He is currently either trying to escape the void or having a mental breakdown as we speak
This boss fight effectively confirmed that Mephiles IS "alive".
He's simply stuck in the void, unable to leave and interact with the timeline; fully aware of his predicament.
Which asks a VERY interesting question:
If Robotnik(Classic) and Eggman(Modern) managed to find their way out of the void, what's stopping Mephiles?
Or is he alredy out and we just don't know it yet?
I think it's possibly both
Nope, he just gone
@@jalontillmon2807 Damn aren't you a ton of fun
I think it's because the Egg man's are still known in the timeline which means they will eventually be brought back in while Mephiles was completely erased from the timeline which stops him from getting back in.
@@JaxsonEvans-pw2fftrue, but Shadow, whether he likes it or not now, remembers him. He seemingly doesn't remember their history at first, but at the end that comment felt *personal*
Like a part of Shadow remembered who this monster was and knew how important it was to deny him his resurrection.
But, again, Shadow remembers him now. Meaning Mephiles has a foothold to come back.
Mephiles: You ruin everything to me Shadow!
Shadow: ... I don´t even know who you are.
Memphis Tennessee: D:
i can understand why a lot of people wanted dan green back, and it’s completely fair to prefer the og, but i think robbie did a great job as mephiles. he never disappoints
I wanted to puke when I first heard this voice but after watching it again I can definitely tolerate it now.
fuck no this preformance is dogshit
Is not that he did a bad job, let's not deflect and lie to ourselves, is that he just simply doesn't fit Mephiles, I could see him as a Scourge tho but Mephiles? Nah, you're coping if you think he gives the same imposing presence as Dan Green did
That beam that he shot out was the same one he "killed" sonic with!
Memphis Tennessee in a mainline Sonic game? IN 2024?!
It only took 18 years
“Is that Sonic how the fuck did he get here, what the fuck is doing in my shield?”
Mephilies is voiced by Robbie daymond, who voiced akechi in persona 5.
And Hubert in Fire Emblem. While I was upset they didn’t bring back Dan Green. Daymond did a great job with Mephiles.
Prompto from ff15 & Happy Chaos from Guilty Gear & Chai from Hi-Fi Rush
**Get in the clown car, we are going on a Boysband tour**
Yeah, I can definitely hear Akechi slip in at times.
Also voiced Megumi in Jujutsu Kaisen. Man, he’s a good voice actor.
Not a fan of this voice... But glad that they gave him personality in this boss fight.
oh yeah i forgot 06 canonically retconed itself out of existence.
This game says otherwise
@@konektykaMephiles says other wise to the other wise.
He literally says he is going to try and defeat Shadow to try and Restore himself into the timeline in this video.
Meaning he canonically knows he has no future
@@konektykathis game never said otherwise, White Space is an area outside time and space, that's why places that should not exist like Crisis City, is not that hard to understand
I like this new voice he’s seems less composed which is fitting given his many failures
Idk about "many failures" he was pretty successful at becoming solaris,i think him basically not existing is what really drove him mad.
New sonic fans will do ANYTHING to excuse bad voice acting bruh
Who voices him?
@@Ironmew05 Robbie daymond as I have heard.
@@muanims I guess it was just one failure of losing to the hedgehogs
Meanwhile, Black Doom sweating bullets in the background as he realizes he nearly brought back something too dangerous to exist in causal reality.
Shadow basically did Black Doom have favor by making sure Mephiles didn't get back into the timeline.
Imagine Black Doom succeeded at the end of the game and suddenly just Solaris just begins to float behind him.
@@nealenthenerd399 Blackdoom: Hey. *Dreamworks smirk.*
Shadow just straight up and gave the "I don't even know who you are..." treatment to Mephiles LMAO! In all seriousness, I'm glad their looking back into Sonic '06 more, hopefully they'll do the same for Forces so we can get Infinite back again...🙏😖
Forces is still relatively new I’ve waited 18 years for this.
@@ZantTheMan Oh for sure I feel the same way. I just feel liked we got robbed on something that could have been better than what we got with the final product for Forces.
People want the mephiles wannabe back now huh?
@@MILDMONSTER1234 He’s basically the newest Robotnik that originally didn’t know that Eggman created him and the Jackals. The final judgement level and the Shadow DLC was meant to highlight this key detail of his character.
"If the world chooses to become my enemy, I will fight like I always have!"
Mephilis tried to kill shadow the same way he killed sonic but shadow doges it
And He still remains as the only villain to ever kill sonic
I mean Shadow always has his guard up to make sure he doesn't get sneaked.
Mephiles is voiced by Robbie Daymond, the voice of Goro Akechi from Persona 5, Zhao from Like A Dragon, and Jugram from Bleach Thousand Year Blood War.
Also Hubert from Fire Emblem 3 Houses, Prompto from FFXV and Spider-Man various late 2010s projects
Happy Chaos from Guilty Gear
Chai from Hi-Fi Rush
Personally, I would prefer Richard Epcar as Mephiles.
and SwaySway from Breadwinners
3:51 sobs and cries as a mephiles fan
Me too mephiles me too
Shadow did not succeed in sealing Mephiles in dusty desert in 06 but this time he did.
4:10 The I of now absorbed your power through your shadow in the past. What may have worked 10 years ago, no longer does!
This fight is full of 06 references no way they forgot this.
They didn't, he got him weak so he could be sealed, that's how they trapped him at first, he was weak and formless
He thought he would exist. But he forgot that he merged into Iblis which it costs to lose his mind in the process. A forgotten entity in a worse 2006 game.
“A forgotten entity in a worse 2006 game„ Sonic Boom
Solaris.
Interesting. Although a part of me was expecting Mephiles to sound different (it has been like, what, two decades since he’s had an actual appearance, voiced and all?), I’m not sure *how* to feel about Mephiles’ new voice. Could they not get Dan Green back to voice him? Is it Dan Green or is it another voice actor? Did his old voice also get erased from existence and he had to get a new one in-universe? Well, either way, I guess even Mephiles is not safe from the whole “Sonic characters suddenly getting new voices in the English version of the series every decade or more” tradition.
(Edit: After reading some of the comments here, I now understand why Mephiles sounds different. Apparently, Dan Green had retired from voice acting in 2011 after the passing of his wife. A very understandable reason and I am sorry for his loss. I hope he’s doing alright these days. Mephiles’ new voice actor here is Robbie Daymond).
Voice aside, it’s good to see Mephiles again, even if he’ll never have a future. Ever. As a fan of him, I’ll still have to come to terms with accepting that fact considering just how dangerous he is as Solaris, his true self. Either way, Solaris means a lot to me considering how much the super-dimensional being that eats dimensions for lunch has been a great source of inspiration for me in terms of creativity, alongside some of the other godly beings in the Sonic series and I’m not ashamed nor embarrassed to express that just because Solaris originated from Sonic ‘06 of all games. Ever since I fell in love with Solaris, god characters in general have been a great source of inspiration for me and tend to be my favorite characters in media and my favorite kind of entity in general. Solaris had also made me become real familiar with all the space-time and multiversal elements used in media.
(Now that I think about it, what would happen if someone were to absorb Solaris in his original tiny flame form and assimilate him into their being instead of just blowing him out of existence? Would they gain all of Solaris’ traits and abilities? Become a new form of the entity? It’s something that I tend to imagine when I think about him now. I just want to absorb him and assimilate him into my being. Pardon, ignore my weird personal ramblings here.)
I’d heard he had a new voice in the form of the Justice Arcana
The VA is great but doesn't suit Mephiles at all and whoever says otherwise is lying to himself and coping hard
@@etherealhatred Uh, you *low key* know you’re talking about Goro Akechi, right?
this is very funny, it supposed that he mentioned that the seal effect wasn't work on him anymore (mephiles said that in the shadow story ending of 2006) but in the end, he was trapped in that vessel again (i've wonder if iblis returned back and silver had to fight him again)
Yeah that contradicts 06
WELCOME BACK TO TILTED TOWERS
YES!!!
This just shows how powerful Shadow is and has gotten.
Well the power were borrowed from Black Doom..
"I want to exist!" Poor dude.
ME FILES! I should have known
"Did you forget about me, AGAIN?" Yeah bro you don't exist anymore, nah dip.
2:40 Oh my god he brought the Tilted Towers as an attack.
He sounded really desperate in this game, he have been sealed and forgotten for a decade at this point like damn, he really want to exists somewhere in the timeline
Robbie Daymond is a fantastic voice actor in general, but he was really the wrong choice to play Mephiles (and I say this as the internet's #1 Mephiles loather lol)
He sounds way too light
Robbie would be a good fit for Eclipse the Darkling though.
@@sonicranger5418nah, he fits better someone like Scourge i can definitely picture him as Scourge
They should've used the VA of Yusuke instead it would've fit better
Ray Chase doing his Sukuna voice i feel would have fit Meph more then Robbie Daymond
They should hire Patrick Seitz to voice Mephiles.
I myself was thinking Ray Chase
My thoughts exactly as I was watching the video. Patrick would have been great
What about Darin De Paul?
@@andreaslima2213 who’s that
@@Gabe-n8jOh. Ray Chase would’ve been so fire!
this boss fight makes no sense when you think about it.
if mephiles wants to exist and is trying to get back to the timeline why isn't he trying to kill sonic he's done it twice maybe more confirmed in o6 or going after Elise? how does beating shadow bring him back to the timeline when shadow wasn't the one who erased him.
also the septor doesn't work on mephiles anymore but it does here for some reason?.
and mephiles time travels he was literally in 3 points of time in o6 while being the mind and time powered part of solaris so what's stopping him from time traveling to the or a future or past to make sure he exists.
mephiles is smart he used silver and other factors to help him become solaris so wouldn't he use shadows and sonics adventure through time to free himself if he isn't capable doing it himself.
it's nice to see him again but i don't understand him here
Neat to know the timeline wasnt outright erased but sealed away.
I really don’t like Mephiles’ new voice, obviously they weren’t gonna get Dan Green back, but at least try & emulate his performance.
Also interesting they don’t leave a door open or imply Mephiles restored himself to the main timeline so he can be used in future games.
This VA couldn't have nailed what Dan Green did, they could've gotten someone with a deeper voice, if i'm not mistaken is the VA of Akechi from P5 they could've gotten the VA from Yusuke and would've been better
And what do you know, the perfect shape
Mephiles voice actor confirmed is not the Dan green
Now that I think about it Doom could've use Mephiles as a vessel and created the Ultimate being
No he couldn't because he was sealed and if it weren't for Shadow and Silver either Iblis would've destroyed the world or they would've merged and formed Solaris destroying time, Shadow and Silver's intervention was crucial to the events on 06 and to get them apart so they wouldn't fuse
in case if someone forgot, back on sonic 2006, princess elise blow up the fire of solaris, so iblis and also mephiles will no longer exist, and yet, they will never meant to meet each other, include memory will also erase.
which explains why shadow don't remember about the seal and mephiles
Ok wait so basically Mephiles is just trapped in the void, Worst too since his in the seal too
I kinda feel bad for Mephiles. He is stuck in a time loop and only fails to return to the timeline. He got the fate worse than death.
Shadow actually fought the devil himself undefeated a thousand year old evil take that Dante
I wanted to avoid spoilers so bad but I can't help it I need to see my GOAT Mephiles the Dark
This boss fight looks way similar that the one in Sonic Robo Blast 2 with Metal Sonic
Voice sucks but Mephiles even returning in the first place is awesome. Though i wish he had a bigger role in the story
He is no Dan Green but I already love his new voice.
and hes captured again 😂😂😂 see u in more 20 yrs mephiles lmaoo
very funny, cause it supposed that he mentioned that the seal effect wasn't work on him anymore (mephiles said that in the shadow story ending of 2006)
I was expecting some more cutscenes of mephils
Shadow vs the giga-chad part lizard map-creator gamer.
Mephiles is way to casual sounding in my opinion. The things he says not the voice itself
Wow it doesn't look menacing compare to his previous counterpart lol
We'll see who did it better SEGA or ChaosX
9 points short of 42069 rip
I'm disappointed that his voice is different.
Truly disappointed.
@@CsmcVspr Dan green the original VA quit in 2011 after the passing of his wife
@@damn_dude02 Damn. Poor dude. I don't blame him 😢😢
@@damn_dude02 So that’s why Mephiles’ voice is different. That’s a very understandable reason.
@@Probably_JENOVA
idk i think i should get mad about it and blame other people. that's what a Sonic fan usually does, anyways.
I guess that Sonic (2006) was a bad game and erase it from Sonic game timeline.
People need to let go of nostalgia. Robbie is a great fit for Mephiles. Dan Green is a great voice actor but the fact that he used his Yugi (Atem) for Mephiles made the character semi annoying to listen to and hard to differentiate Mephiles from Atem. Like, how can I take the scene of Sonic dying seriously when Atem is just laughing his ass off at Sonic dying.
This voice gives Mephiles a sense of sophistication but with immense desperation. Which is fitting considering Mephiles is a god who’s trying to restore himself at all costs.
Mephiles!!!!
