@@Devi_Seona everybody has copied something at some point, you can accuse her of whatever but she’s still done more original and groundbreaking shit than most other artist lol
Definitely no idols like her now! There’s barely any soloists in 4th gen period. And nobody would be this weird and eccentric these days, the passion and artistry just isn’t there anymore
You crazy, sunmi has always destroyed it, somi has yet to blossom but she’s getting there and girls like hwasa, IU, and tayeon all have their own unique tastes that dip away from the cookie cutter concepts lmao
@@Dominicn123 All the people you mentioned are not doing anything as wild as Lee Junghyun. Plus I was thinking about 4th gen, newer artists! Bibi is probably the closest but she’s more about crazy MVs than live stages or outfits
@@ohnoits I feel like most of the landmark out-of-the-box performances in modern kpop are about male sexuality and gender norms. We got stuff like Taemin's 'Move' (although it's already a few years ago) and 'libidO' by OnlyOneOf... but none of that is really on the same level of BOOM as Lee Jung Hyun.
I think the fact that they she made her microphone an accessory is great. I feel like the most we see is colored microphones but she really had fun with it. Hope some one brings this back with all the 2000's influence in Kpop these days.
Her Going Crazy MV is also interesting and discovered via Audition SEA as a "chain song"!!! The song is still included in my daily playlist. I hope that more groups will cover her songs because they're really unique.
My favorite singer that I found during my time with exploring k-pop. She is everything! When I saw they tribute concert for 90s/1 Gen k-pop I was so excited to watch her perform again and she looks literally the same. Her personal life was really interesting to learn as well.
I think she is absolutely great and I love listening to her songs and watching her old award show performances. Regarding the commentary of the narrator about what I assume she meant as some sort of cultural appropriation of Egyptian heritage, I’ve wondered for years why people think that modern day Egypt has anything to do with ancient Egypt other than they share the same physical location? It’s like comparing modern day Italy with Ancient Rome. Ancient Egyptian culture is long dead and belongs to dust. Dressing up in what doubtfully has any resemblance to it anyways is meaningless to a long dead civilization.
ngl 4th gen kpop is boring me. it would be nice to have more idols like her in the industry now to shake things up a bit. i miss goofy or wild concepts like this.
Thank you soooo much for covering her ! She is Gen 1 's lady gaga !! Do uhm jung hwa (korean Madonna) next 🥰😘 . Love your channel btw . Been a subscriber for years!!!
(If we wanna be accurate, Kim Wansun was the Korean Madonna first and passed the torch to Junghwa in the same year that she retired basically) but yesss Uhm Junghwa has one helluva story
a deepdive about "yang joon il" the one who suddenly became viral in 2020 because he looks like the 90s version of gd would be interesting! his songs where fun too especially Rebecca and he deserves much more recognition for breaking gender stereotypes back in his days 🙏
Thank you for making these videos about 1st and 2nd Gen idols! As someone who only got into kpop during 4th Gen it’s really interesting to learn about the pioneers who got us to where we are now. Thank you!
@Midnight Theories you have to do a documentary on her a good 30 min to 45min one covering all her 7 studio and there singles , mini albums , her first movie a petal upto peninsula film. Thanks again for this ! I was obsessed with her & still have all her albums along with uhm jung hwas too ! I love lee jung hyun's 4th album & 7th album & concept
Lee Jung Hyun and Uhm Jung Hwa were a trendsetter back then. I know Lee Jung Hyun from KBS show called Fun-staurant and she have great ability in cooking. I hope for the next legend episode, you can feature Uhm Jung Hwa because she's just BOMB even until now... And it's her 30th anniversary for becoming an entertainer.
Loved this video! I hope down the road, you'll do a video about the soloist Younha and her career, especially since she went viral in Korea last year with her song, "Event Horizon."
Wow I had no idea who this was but I watched the vid anyway cause I love your videos and now I have her song stuck in my head 😂 I can’t wait on the deep dive!
Nah no one's doing it like she did but that's probably a good thing. I don't think a sinilar concept would compare to the original and it would just look like a knock off version or trying too hard
I think it's because they are leaning towards using luxury brands as ambassadors since fans can easily shop the same item or an inspired outfit anywhere online.
@@johnatespaghettiforlunch3568 yeah that’s also why there’s a lot of overlap of outfits between idols. Like chaeryeong’s top in chesire is the same as yuqi’s top in nxde
Got into her music when it was still rather new about 20+ years ago via “Wa” and “Ba Kkwo” appearing on Dance Dance Revolution (DDR3 Korean ver. and DDR4+). The latter song is still my fave song of hers to this day.
So THATS why it’s familiar. I heard them in DDR too, but I just couldn’t remember where I heard them. I was very young so I just thought the song sounded funny, especially since it was in a language foreign to me.
I dont know if anyone could come close nowadays! There is this one artist, Ahn Ye-Eun, who has got the "weird" down for sure, and such an interesting and beautiful voice ua-cam.com/video/bBHELAfAmbA/v-deo.html This is my favorite mv from her!

at first i didn't like female idols but once I started to become hurt and angry because of female idols I listened and loved them all those jams made me dance ✨
She reminds me of Ldy Gaga of my generation. She broke barriers as well in terms of stages, outfits, MVs, and advocacies.
Lady Gaga has been accused many times of stealing concepts, songs etc by many artists.

I think Lady GaGa was a fan of Jung Hyun herself, there's a pic of her & Jung Hyun together
Ooh, that song was so iconic back at the time and a lot of 2nd gen idols covering it. Man, good times
i remember mamamoo's solar covered her too lol

Much harder today for soloists that aren't tied to groups to get popular in Korea. I think the closest at the moment is Bibi.

because it's not a concept. the industry let her be herself. kpop is highly controlled by the companies nowadays
Queen! She came, left one helluva mark, and still is riding on crazy success as an actress!
