    “Give them a chance to talk” is so true. I️ had to learn to do the same. He could look at me and I️ would know what he wants. It really helped with my son as well when I️ just let him ask more before I️ give him what I️ know he wants. All great tips, I️ wish I️ knew you when I️ was going through this with Zakk, I️ wouldn’t have felt so alone. ❤️❤️❤️

    Getting my daughter to focus on my mouth when I speak has helped her make some pretty big progress. I've recently started slowing down my speech and getting her to focus on my mouth and she's gotten a lot better at pronouncing all the letters in words correctly. I'll be sure to try out the rest of these great video as usual keep up the great content!

    Hi! Thank you for posting these videos. My 19month son only says “dada” and I have been so worried. I’m going to start using your tips! I haven’t scheduled him for speech therapy yet because I wanted to see if he has any progress with me first. Also, to be honest I’m so nervous about all the other diagnosis’s that go along with speech delays. Again, thank you for your helpful content!

    omg love these tips.. im a mom of a late talker. . your video was so calming.!!! was your son tested for autism? ours was and doesn't fall on the spectrum but his speech therapist keeps saying that he does. which is so frustrating to me. i love your potty training tips .

      Allison Armstead I didn’t officially, I wanted to wait til he was alittle older just to give him alittle time. His speech therapist said the same to me
      Originally as your did...but now she said a lot of her worries have changed, and so have mine. But obviously every situation is diff so if your concerned def get him checked bc I think you could get additional services?:) best of luck!!

    Thanks Drake for your videos. They are very helpful. I have a speech delayed 3 yr old son. Just turned 3 a week ago. He cannot start or maintain a conversation. He will just repeat words after me be is a question or sentence. Been trying to help him with his speech. Like you advice, i do make him look at my mouth when am pronouncing a word which has made him slightly improve coz he can now connect a few words like give me please (when he is asking for something), come here, we go, see you, open please, give milk, am full (after feeding). He is also very good at saying please when making a request, thank you and your welcome at appropriate times but am so scared of taking him to the mainstream preschool because he cannot communicate well, he cant feed himself or use the bathroom(he uses it occassionally to pee). Any further advice from you will be appreciated.

      Lynnet Olel through early intervention Cullen got put into a speech delay preschool which has done wonders, have you talked to your doctor? Speech therapy and early intervention has been amazing :) sounds like he is already making progress

    • @lo9818
      @lo9818 6 років тому

      Drakes Nest, thank you for your time and response. The doctor told me to wait till he turned 3. I am scheduling an appointment for him to be evaluated. Interesting and very amusing bit is that when he tries to talk to me to communicate something he would atimes also direct me to look at his mouth since i usually point and tell him to look at my mouth whenever i am assisting him with his speech. But so far, am happy with his progress. Thanks to you and be Blessed.

    My son just turned 4, we started speech therapy recently. I just wondered did the therapist ever have a concern of autism? My pediatrician says no bc he is social, points and just has a speech delay but I’m not sure if all therapists think autism with speech delay?

    How old was your son when he started saying more than "mama" and "dada"? And did your doctor's ever think he was Autistic bc of speech delay? My son is 18 months and his doctor keeps bringing up autism bc he isn't really talking. He only has a couple words, but he plays and interacts like any other kid.

    • @DrakesNest
      @DrakesNest  6 років тому

      Misty Gilbert it had been brought up to me before but like you his interaction and eye contact was pretty normal....but I was concerned about that at times. Speech delay could be a sign of autism but not always. Keep doing your early interventions and working with him and talking with your doctors. Best wishes xx

      Drakes Nest Thank you for your reply! We have been in speech therapy the last two months and he is making progress. I do have one more question, was your son's head off of the growth chart for circumference? My little boy's growth curve is a good deal higher than the average.

    • @DrakesNest
      @DrakesNest  6 років тому

      Misty Gilbert he was taller and bigger, but so has my daughter, I don’t think that related at all to his speech...if your doctors are concerned about that def talk with them about it:)

    My daughter is 3yrs 3 months and has speech delay. She does repeat after me but when I ask her to say on her own she gets confused and ends up saying only 1 word rather than the entire sentence. Example- this is a mango. Also she's just learnt the word pineapple so she's using it for anything new edible or non edible. Please advise

      Nilanjana Devi, you might need to evaluate her asap. 3 1/2 she should be speaking 3 to 4 word sentences at least. There's other UA-cam channels that give good advice like this lady and more.
