    I liked this video simply because you were so transparent about how little a toddlers attention span is, so many UA-cam videos make it seem as though something is wrong if you can’t sit your toddler down for an hour a day reading and learning. I like many FTM get sucked into these unrealistic expectations of what it should be, when in reality they edited out all the times the child lost interest. It took me a while to get out of that train of thought and use common sense and realize that I have a toddler and toddlers can’t and won’t sit still to look at flash cards for an hour.

      Cheers for this, I have been researching "why do i stutter when i get nervous?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Deyarper Especial Dominance - (search on google ) ? It is a good exclusive guide for discovering how to get rid of your stuttering once and for all minus the headache. My 4 year old is Autistic and started speech at 3 he got diagnosed at 2 so a few months later his third birthday came he was able to start therapy with the insurance my husband's job provided. Whenever they feel that the people they're familiar with are close to them, then it would be an okay, most of the time (not all. As different house, different treatments coming from the family members) The most important thing kids this age need is feeling safe, and the people living together with them should provide that "safety feeling" strong before letting the kids meet strangers.

    I have a 3 years old nephew. He has speech delay and starts living with our family (my mom and dad) when he was 2 years old. i have opportunity to do activities just like what the therapist did and he can speak now! It just takes some times and works. Never give up if your child cant speak and never neglect if your child is "not like other child". It is better to take early action.

  • @Rexlucem
    @Rexlucem 6 років тому +3

    I really like all the different activities that you show. I really appreciate you putting this out here for parents. What I don't understand is why the therapist uses more slurred "baby talk" at times. Using words correctly with good diction seems like it would teach correct language and pronunciation better. What are your thoughts on that?

    • @WalkieTalkieSpeechTherapy
      @WalkieTalkieSpeechTherapy  6 років тому +2

      Hi! Thanks for watching. Baby talk is a way of engaging the child with a sing-song voice. As child ages and becomes more verbal, the therapist will adjust how she talks to the child.

    • @marthak3191
      @marthak3191 5 років тому

      I have. The waiting lists are really long! We’ve actually started doing stuff like this every day and reading more, less TV time. He tries to mimic the word “go” and can say “guh! Guh! Guh!” When I spin this big top for him. He tries very hard to mimic the words “in” and “out” when we’re putting toys into a container and dumping them out - he almost has those words down. He mimics actions + sounds, like pinching our fingers together and saying “quack quack quack” when I show him a picture of a rubber ducky, and he says “dog” “baby” and “mama” appropriately to communicate. I don’t think he has exactly the right number of words in his vocab just yet... but he’s working on it.

He understands all of that just his speech is delayed and now it’s really starting to worry me. I repeat the same words over and over like mama and sissy but he never repeats me!

    Great fun and factual video..this is what often comes naturally with parents and normal children ..very good for parents,with speech delay children to watch so that they can see the differences..and what their child has missed out on... never too late. Often parents are too busy and always on the smartphones busy with their own activity and when child wants it they put a cartoon or animation on and hand over the phone to child rather than a proper play with the child ..letting the child taking lead and supporting the child by observation a little help and encouragement and tons of patience and enthusiasm..
    Thank you for this video I ft I stepped back in time with my own children 40 years ago. That is how it was with few basic toys but tons of fun ... not the electronic gadgets ...and iphones

Sometime he said mama baba repeatedly but i recognize he didn’t even know who’s exactly mama he can’t express his word with relationship. Kindly tell me in which way i teach him. Because i concerned him with different ENT specialists audiologist and also take a bear-a test but didn’t found exact problem their message is just to give him a speech therapy at home and try to communicate with him.

    How old was the baby in this vid when it was recorded? My currently 29month old is a bit slow in speech im thinking maybe because of biligualism but he does love throwing ball back and forth. Easily loses interest tho and finds new things to do. His favorite is watching things soin. Fans, dryer etc. Loves clicking on every little buttons and switches that has cause and effect i.e lights household items that makes noise, air purifier, u name it. Has a hard time sitting down and wait for me to read him something, he rather goes for the book himself and flips the pages and dont usually let me read to him. He makes it clear to me he wants to go downstairs to see the dryer/washer by making sound they produce and pulling my hands. Hes obsessed with it. But once it satisfy, he will without fuss follow me back upstairs for other things. Help

Just curious because he's definitely more advanced than my almost 16 month old so I'm not exactly sure why he's in speech therapy. We were told by the pediatrician that he's a little behind with communication but that it's really hard to qualify for Early Intervention before 18 months.
