If you are reading this in 2023, DO NOT print with the included white filament…. That is a special brittle filament that is only for supports. If you print with it not only will the print fail spectacularly but you’ll become so frustrated that you’ll get drunk, knock over tables at Taco Bell, break your hand punching a tree and eventually in a drug-fueled rage expose yourself to a cop and sit in prison for 2 weeks because your kids won’t bail you out. I’ve had my X1 Carbon for 4 days. I waited until yesterday to unpack it and spent the previous days looking for unpacking and start up videos. There are quite a few but yours is the only one that actually took me step by step through the process. I was afraid to leave the foam under the bed, no one else mentioned it. I one went from unboxing through setting up the firmware. Thank you for this.
I got this in 2024 today, there was no glue included, it came with 3 filaments. Pla basic, support, and Pla cf black. Don’t know what I’m doing but the magnetic plate is the duel sided textured PEI plate
Wow... I have had my X1 for 2 months but schedules and fears kept me from getting it going. First at 10' nad 43" you talked about the desicant. I MISSED THAT. THANK YoU. Then parts after that so nicely detailed for us beginners. You are great.!!!
Outstanding video! I got my X1 Carbon Combo today and used your video to walk me through the steps. It made the process easy. The only glitch I had was getting my Bambu Handy App to connect to my printer on either my android phone or iPad. It finally did connect to my phone after repeated tries, what I did differently I don’t know. But hey, it works! Downloaded the Windows version of the slicer and printed a flying bridge in PLA using Windex as the release agent on my cool plate. It came out perfect! Thanks for taking the time to make the video.
Thanks, Jim! I finally got a chance to setup my Bambu today and after watching this video a few times I was super quick and easy. One thing you don't mention is whether you have to provide your own SD card. Mine didn't seem to have one included, so I had to add my own before it would update the firmware or record time lapses. Great video for all Bambu owners to check out before opening up their printers.
@@TheEdgeofTech I'm sure I will. All I've printed so far is a 24 minute benchy - with about 6 minutes of that being warming, calibration, leveling, etc. Darned fast and a very high quality result.
Thank you! This has been the best video to help me unbox and prepare this beast. I assiduously followed all instructions, including dropping the screws a few times.
Very thorough, best out of a few setup videos I watched. Better than the manual that comes with it, completely skips the AMS setup. Thank you, made setup easy. I made sure to find a tutorial because when setting up my Ender 3 V2 the instructions were useless.
Thanks for this video. Mine arrives Saturday and now in my excitement I wont break something or tear out a screw. Good job walking us through, loved the strait-forward let's get this done. Keep up the good work.
normally in cold beds (in other printers I use hairspray on pei) in this the glue stick that comes with it is different from any other glue stick? The store that sends it takes a long time to reach my country. I understand that it must be the same heavy glue sticks that were used in school or in the old printers?
I appreciate the effort put into the video. One problem for me was the setup in the Bambu Handy app wasn't quite the same as the video - probably because of the age of the video. I did need to go to other videos because the video never actually finished with the load of the first spool in the AMS. We just put it in about an inch. Not setup for printing yet. Will need to do some more research. Thank you for what you did provide.
I just followed this to set up my new X1C! Thank you, as always, for giving clear and to-the-point instructions! I can't wait to print my first benchy on this!

Thanks, used this to setup my X1C, spot on mate. Been 3d printing with an Ender 2 v3 for a couple of years now, loved that despite the ground work it takes to make it print nice, quite amazed how this thing prints right out the box - only issue I had so far was the Bambu filament not auto detecting - had to input that manually, sure its something simple tho.
Huge thanks from Tokyo for this excellent step-by-step and easy-to-follow setup tutorial. I'm looking forward to learning lots more from you as I move forward on my X1 C 3D printing journey!
I’m using 3DLac for my Prusa. Do you think that the 3DLack will do the same as the glue stick in terms of getting easier to remove the PLA from the bed?
Any ideas on how to transport the x1 carbon around 100 miles by car? I was thinking of just putting it back into the box with the exterior foam only. Do you think that that would work?
Nobody mentions this but leave the plastic Styrofoam underneath the bed on until after you calibrate the bed and the bed will raise itself. Don't try to rip the foam out with the bed clamped on top of it
I just wanted to say. Thank you thank you thank you so much for this video. I was struggling with setting up my x1-carbon. This video helped me so much.
Question. I just ordered my X1C with the AMS option. I plan on using different colored spools of PLA but I won't be getting them from Bambu Labs. My question is how do I tell the printer which color to print from if the AMS doesn't know what color is in which slot because the non Bambu filament won't have the chip in the filament spool(s) that identifies what type and color filament is in that particular spool slot. Can I assume there's something in the printer settings that allows you to pick and choose from which spool slot you want to print from?
Congratulations! I hope you love it! Yes, you will be able to choose from a list. So if it's random PLA you would just choose PLA and the color. There are other options to choose as well, but the short answer is yes!
Thanks a bunch for this excellent tutorial. it helped me a lot to overcome the scrappy, foggy setup manual made by bambulab. is there somewhere a written, decent manual? best regards from Germany
Great and now I just have to wait till September to get my X1 Carbon😃. PEI-buildplates are listed in their shop already and for very low price so far. IMO their default plates must have the big advantage that you don't have to heat them up for PETG and PLA. That's not just saving energy, but keep dimensions more accurate since parts tend to shrink after cooling, which is so f-ing annoying in FDM-printing.
Just come across these videos. I love it!! Having the screws drop included in the video gives me a sense of relief that I’m not the only dummy that kept dropping them. Subscribed!!!!
Thank you I now have 3 of the carbon X1. I do have an issue with the AMS after a print finishes it will not retract the filament and stalls each time I have to remove the boden tube from the connector on the back and then hit retry. In doing this it pulls the filament back from the cut point in the extruder and then the AMS can retract and finish the print. Does anyone have an idea or fix for this?

You should be able to put it on once and print a few times. You can always just put a thin coat over the area you printed on before the next Print, but not on the whole bed. But I would clean the plate with warm water and a tiny bit of dish soap. Then dry it good, every 10 prints.
