This World Cup was the first I'd seen in colour 🙂 I remember at the time thinking how old I would be at each 4 year World Cup , I thought, you old get, when I got to me being 64 ( in 2 years time) 🙂
I'm always struck by how big, tall and amazingly physically strong the old Brazil teams were. Looking at the Scotland players next to them, it almost seems unfair.
Weak referee - didn't know when to book and didn't seem to want to. The players were out there on their own in a battle. Not much chance of playing football.

The violence shown by the Brazilians was bloody disgraceful. Rivelino should have been sent off but the Dutch ref spent the entire 90 minutes shitting himself all over the place. No question that the Brazilians should have been down to 9 men in total. Scotland should easily have won this game with a decent referee. The Scots got turned over in 1978 by a shit Austrian ref (2 legal goals disallowed against Holland) and a shit Romanian referee against Russia in 1982 (last minute penalty for handball ignored). Any big country and all those decisions would have gone their way.
From when football was seen worldwide on color tv fir the 1. Time. Too rough but kind of unworried, and with plenty of personalities. No big strong robots all over the place.

But i was 11 in 74 and , i played football myself on the local team. I guess when I wrote it, i was having a nostalgic moment, and i was thinking about how i perceived it back then. Because actually is is to rough. Thankyou for correcting me.
