BMW X5 Electrical System Malfunction - FIXED

- The electrical system malfunction warning on a 2012 BMW X5 35i E70 is caused by compromised K CAN bus and/or PT CAN bus connections, probably due to water. Water leaks are very common on the X5 E70 and even newer models and destroy trunk control modules and other electronics.
This video has important warnings about the connections and repair.
If you have water in the trunk compartment, use your shopvac to suck it out.

Wow! Your video was the first one and it is exactly what is going on right now with my ‘13 x5 35i. The compartment is full of water but thankfully all the wires are e tact. But it seems per mu husband there are computer connections in this compartment that have been getting wet. This is absolutely ludicrous to put these there …

This was my problem. Thank you for this video. Car is now running but showing Engine malfunction w/ a P21A8 code. Hopefully it’s because I started the car without the lift gate control module.
Where is this module? Also does x5 tail gate open fully by itself or am I supposed to lift it manually?

If I were a BMW or any automotive engineer, all sensitive electronic control modules and critical connectors would be located high and dry, encased in a protective housing between the headliner and roof, or mounted high on the inner body

I don’t find any water there in the back but my car is taking water in the passenger front and back.
I found mine submerged in a pool of water. Do you think this will cause a no start/crank? That’s the problem I have. I checked the front ECM and it’s dry with no signs of damage.

Can you help me my tailgate is not working my latch won’t unlock it brand new and the module brand new to and the structs I don’t hear any sound when I press the button inside and outside please
make sure the tailgate and hatch are COMPLETELY closed. re-slam the lower tailgate. I had that problem early on. Not a defect.
@@YuDaMan Everything is aligned when i closes but when Open with emergency cord the button inside works and outside works closing

What is the name of that module? I know they're model speciffic, is it the module beside the battery or the one behind the wheel well tub?
