Best quote from the video..not really a beginner species, but im still alive and so is the tarantula! Great vid and informative as usual!
Great vid. Very informal. Just got one this weekend. 1st old world for me and my family. Excited! Thanks!
That thing is crazy looking with that vibrant orange! Great video, love all that info on their background and history!
Very good video love 👍
My third OBT came in like 2 months ago and I knew I should of taken my long sleeve off but I didn’t and GOLLY. I got the enclosure set up and open her lid and the moment I did she ran on my hand and i slowly saw her run up into the sleeve 😳😫💀 longest hour and half taking the shirt off and looking for her. I put a caution sign on her enclosure 😅
I love how stunning the orange is on this species! Easily up there in one of my favorite looking Tarantulas.
Very cool video!! Thank you :)
You made a nice video about P. Murinus. I will follow you!
I just got one and i absolutely love her. I got her in a zoo med starters creature kit with a few sticks with the log that is burrowed and the greenery in the back temp is 70 humidity is 50 as it should be !!!
Idk who you are. But I love you
Another great video, that orange bitey thingy does look like it could be a challenge to catch when it decides to go for a run around the house. Very cool tarantula.
It's only happened once or twice and believe me it was enough 😅
My first T is a Kochiana Brunnipes, after that I bought my OBT and oh boy..she bolted during unboxing and rehousing. Luckily I stayed calm and now she's in her "forever home". They're definitely a challenge but I love their temperament! I've got 15 T's now but my OBT is my absolute favorite ❤
I started with the acanthoscurria geniculata, then moved to the chilobrachys kaeng krachan, huahini and fimbriatus 😂
I wouldn't recommend this being someone's first tarantula 😮❤ nice spider's but not for first time keeper's!🇬🇧
Is it bad to keep slings in larger enclosures?
@Tatiana's Tiny Zoo nice video, when it bolted how did you catch it, and how was the experience, I have to rehouse mine, and bolted one, out of the container, scaled up the bath and on to the side skirts, oh did I shit myself :D
She slipped underneath a door into a storage closet. Was stressful moving stuff to get her out, but eventually we got her into a catch cup! We use a 2L soda bottle that's cut in half to catch them - just wait for the spider to stop moving and then cover it with the bottle.
@@TatianasTinyZoo Thank you very much, how old is you're obt now, and last but not least how many T's do you have now in you're collection ?
@@TatianasTinyZoo Good Idea, I never thought of using a bigger bottle, I hope when I rehouse mine, it does not bolt like last time.
New world species refer to tarantula species that derive from North, mid, and south America, old world derive from everywhere else, Eastern world! Middle East and far east , 👍🕷🕸
NOT FOR BEGINNERS,
YES I OWN 6👍
Slings are harder to care for if you forget feed and water
Great video, BUT what a necessity can be to keep venomous creature at home? Beginners or not is there a guarantee that they won't be bitten? If not, why the risk? And if you really love nature and animals you should fight for their natural habitat preservation instead of keeping them in captivity manually feeding them with another live creature.
While there is a higher health risk from the bite of a venomous animal, there have been NO recorded deaths from a tarantula bite in the United States. Bites of these spiders have a range of severity, with only a minority having severe symptoms (if you are allergic, for example). Deaths by verified spider bites are exceedingly rare (e.g. one in Australia in 37 years). I’d argue that plenty of common household pets like cats and dogs do WAY more bodily harm than any responsibly kept tarantula, snake, lizard, etc ever do, and there are 30-50 cases of household dogs killing children and owners in the United States alone every year. There are irresponsible dog owners, irresponsible snake owners, irresponsible tarantula owners, and even irresponsible parents all over the world.
I think you’re missing the point here. The entire purpose of my channel is to educate and teach others to respect and appreciate these animals. IF someone wants one as a pet I teach them the CORRECT avenues to take, instead of getting an animal with 0 prior knowledge or research (like many dog owners I know).
I disagree with importing wild caught animals for the pet trade (zoo importing is a different topic, as is importing to maintain healthy genetics in populations) and I make this very clear on my channel. Bad people will take animals out of the wild with or without my videos on the subject. What I can do to combat this, is continue to stress the importance of buying CAPTIVE bred animals if they are something you are interested in keeping as a pet. Many captive breeding programs are vital for animal populations that are threatened or endangered in the wild and without them there are numerous species that would already be extinct AND there are plenty of dedicated hobbyists that use their breeding programs to re-introduce animals into their native ecosystems.
Speaking of ecosystems, over 20% of Africa’s entire land mass has been severely damaged due to pollution, agriculture (most of which gets shipped back to the US), erosion and deforestation. I’d like to ask you how you are contributing to the fight for native African environments? Are you donating to a specific cause? Have you stopped purchasing products who’s companies clear cut millions of hectacres of African land? Are you studying any African plant or animal species and sharing the information with others?
Personally? I am using my channel, as well as the rest of my social media, to get people interested in the plants and animals they can find across the world, as well as their own backyards. My content helps people develop a relationship with an animal they would otherwise never get a chance to see or learn about. They are much more likely to think about (and help!) endangered environments, plants and animals after they have had a chance to learn about them. THIS is how I express my love for nature and THIS is what my channel is about.
More likely to be bitten by a dog. Most tarantula keepers are very careful with their spiders and don't come close to being bitten. I kept spiders and highly venomous scorpions for about 25 years, with no issues.
They're like furry little puppies, but better.
Best for beginners? Isn't this one of the most aggressive with a very potent bite?
Watch the video ;)
@@TatianasTinyZoo Ugh... Fine. 🙄
So what do you recommend for a first old world tarantula?
I don't think there's a good recommendation for an old world beginner species. They're all fast as heck and have a nasty venom (some worse than others). But if I had to pick I'd say E. pachypus or C. Darlingi. I've heard they're usually calmer - although my darlingi sling is very darty!
@@TatianasTinyZoo I'll look into those. Any thoughts on the sorotec island blue tarantula?
