When I was in high school, I used Al Oerter's arm tuck spin when I threw, and won quite a few meets. I used to watch films of him for hours. Out of all the great throwers, pre 80's, he was my favourite.
Sim Iness (BTW: you have both his names spelled incorrectly) coached me in the discus and gave me some good pointers for a short while while I was attending Porterville junior college in 1973. We had an outstanding track team back then for such a small college. Happy days in the central valley of California. R.I.P. Sim.
