You should have your carbs cleaned and synchronised.....perhaps new plugs and airfilter....sounds awful on higer revs...as if the flow line is disturbed....Believe me, when all is perfectly in tune your adrenaline will make you scream for joy.....as if you can't comprehend the speed. Only the yamaha V max can give a man that sensation. Many crash them so they become rare. You cannot handle 145 BHp on one wheel without having respect for this masterpiece of engineering......Enjoy!
I have a 95 full power V Max, mint, low mileage Japanese import (i'm in the UK), i also have a 2006 Gen 1 Hayabusa, the Busa feels like a big pussycat compared to the Max, the power delivery on the busa is smooth and effortless, the Max is just brutal from 6K onwards.
When the VMax came out around 1985, we all went down to look at it, and I wonder how anyone could ever use that much power. The salesman said it had so much power, it was scary
I own one very bad to the bone a lot of work and I own an RD350 when I was a kid and I owned an X S11 100 when I was in between childhood and now Yamaha Kix butt.
You're wrong about mpg. Those carbs need some adjustment. I rode mine for 15 years and never got less than 120mi per tank....CT to SC trip averaged abt 125. And, those drilled out stock pipes don't do it justice. When you hear it fitted w Supertrapp slip ons , you'll think you're riding an old chevy. The baffles are adjustable so you can mute it if you don't like old chevys or have sensitive neighbors.
Okay first of all the vmax motor was built specifically for the they put it in the venture later on and tuned it down for a touring bike because that motor is bulletproof

You have good taste in bikes. I have a busa and vmax too, mine are gen2s.
V-MAX!!!! 🤘😈

Yeah even today it has tons of power. It's a nutty bike.
The VMax dont play!
It’s a frightening bike
It's a muscle bike, and it was made for me!
I just bought one. Its made for me!! 1999 carbon fiber.
I own one very bad to the bone a lot of work and I own an RD350 when I was a kid and I owned an X S11 100 when I was in between childhood and now Yamaha Kix butt.
Hold on to those grips when you nail it. And the seetis designed to keep you fom coming off.
Sweet!
VMAX = Mr Beast
You can trick the v boost to always be activated at any rpm. Then you will know poor fuel economy but its a fun ride.
I have that with a stage 7 jet kit K&N cones, and a Kerker 4 into 1 exhaust on my 1998. I only get 76 miles to a tank.
You should try out the second generation Vmax 1700 cc 200 hp if you think that first generation is something
Yeah I’d love to
The difference is 0,2 seconds and about 15.000 dollar😆
Yeah, own a 1998 but have ridden the second generation. 98’ much more fun to drive and not much slower.
Maryland has some real nice backroads if you know where to look
Yeah it's under rated. Most of the northern part is great, but never liked southern md for riding.
Any idea?
Yep she's got a small tank i get about 84 to 86 miles with a full tank
Had my VMax for 18 years and never took candy from a baby. New goal for today! 🖕
Ich hab die1200 und die 1700
Geil!
you didn't mention those two air scoop looking things next to the not-a-tank
Oh yeah they are there for show apparently. I thought they were some kind of ran air intake
Right, there like "not-an-air-intake" :-)
The only time fake vents are acceptable

Ha!Ha! You go steel candy from babies! Scary bike!
The minus side for me is the fuel consumption! It is thirstier than an alcoholic! A gasoholic!!
Youre missing the point of the max. It's a muscle bike period. It's not meant to be sweet and soft...
In short, no it is not the ultimate speed demon.
Really? What is a speed demon to you? Go challenge it on the quarter mile then we talk again.

No, the engine was used in the Venture before being used in the Vmax.
