Damn. I just bought a new head unit for my E38. That looks like an all day job. Glad I saw this video first. I was going to take it to the shop to have it done but after seeing this they'll no doubt say they can't do the install.
Nice video, but I already know how to take the car apart. Would be nice to know how to actually connect all those AVIN wires and how to get the installed Andriod Apps to talk to the hardware.
Sounds like a nice SONY Hi-net MD audio (minidisc) recorder in LPCM mode with a Sony Lapel Mic. The sound of a spinning disc being recorded with the high quality audio. Did I guess right!?
Thanks for the video, did you have any issues fitting the display screen? Apparently any aftermarket android unit will not fit into the E38 due to the design of the E38 HVAC box behind the factory radio?
Ordered one of these units. After two months and countless back and forths with Avin, including sending photos of my wiring connections, they still could not match up the connectors so that this unit would plug in to my 2001 car's connectors. Mine look different than the one pictured here in the trunk well. Avin kept insisting they sent me the correct harness but it was obvious that things didn't match up. Then they sent another one. Still not a match. Very frustrating company to deal with. They assume you are an idiot. And when you give them detailed information on your car, they seem to ignore it. Sent everything back after getting a return authorization but still waiting for a refund two weeks later.
Damn. I was strongly considering purchasing this for my 200 E38 740il. I just purchased the Bluebus for my unit. I just installed the BAVSOUND in it as well. It sounds decent but I can't wait for the Bluebus to arrive. I should get it next month and I ordered it last month.

Easier if you don't have nav.
I would have quit after seeing all those wires hidden in the trunk.. haha

Well, after three years how is it holding up? Any complaints? Thinking of getting one of these.
Even I also want to know same have to change my cars
do you build back in the radiomodule?
You need to talk in your videos bro and explain what is going on. Otherwise, I found it very interesting.
Yeah I know a lot of people say that to me, I gonna put some talking in my next video!
N54 does this install in a video and he talks.
I thought these Android units were plug and play from the front. Why did you have to go all the way in the trunk?
Because it has factory navigation.
Thanks for the video, did you have any issues fitting the display screen? Apparently any aftermarket android unit will not fit into the E38 due to the design of the E38 HVAC box behind the factory radio?
You need to buy a specific unit for the E38. unit for e39 don't fit for what you said. Mine is specific for E38 so no, no issue so far
@@MecaLogic ok even for the older pre LCI e38 with the 4:3 display screen?
@@technik333 yes i think so but I dont know well the pre LCI
@@MecaLogic How did you bypass the DSP with the aftermarket harness? Did you have to keep the original DSP plugged in to make it work?
@@technik333 you need to purchase the I bus app to make the DSP working
Would be nice to hear some comments in your video. As well why testing navi is missing? Any way, wait for more video :D. Good luck!
I can make a review after 1 year usage, I will think about it !
Is this android screen ??
Hi,do you have a DSP music at your bmw?
yes ! you need Ibus app to allow that
Can you show how you got the old media unit loose?
Unfortunaly I didn't record it sorry
If I have an e38 with cassette radio pre facelift and without mk4, it will be much easier?
If you don't have satnav, it's be will easier because the audio is in the dashboard
Can it be done with the version that has navigation
It's the version with nav
Where did you buy that stereo? I cannot find it anywhere.

Hi. How i can fix hydraulic trunk bmw e38. Some times it wont open, i need to push it with my hand to work . Can you do a video pls. Thanks
I don't know how to make a video about that because I never had a issue with my trunk. Try to remplace the oil?
Est ce que ça passe sur une phase 1 , 1995?
Normalement oui, peut être que les branchements seront différents par contre
Subscribed from empire. You need to talk in the video, provide more info, was this DSP?
The DSP was the second item he took out, after the MK4 nav computer. Standing upright.
