Another famous Katie quote, "I have big feet and they don't move fast." 😊 I would love to have been able to see you dance Dewdrop. I've seen a few different Dewdrops at City Ballet and to me, sometimes it can be danced almost too sharply, too accented, too frenetic, to the point where it detracts from the role.

Just a thought … I would love to hear your thinking during the design process for the studio. What decisions did you make, and why? What defines a great studio space? Do you address details about the changing rooms for instance? Did you have your barres made to your specifications with gorgeous materials? How about colours? This suggestion is a bit off-piste, but I bet there are some stories where your style and attention to detail express themselves architecturally …

Dewdrop is actually the reason why I love NYC ballet’s the Nutcracker so much!

Katie, this video is one of your best. I am speaking as a member of the audience; I know I do not want to see cookie cutter performances. I just wanted to add that as a person who has seen NYCB’s Nutcracker, Dew Drop has a special place in my heart.

Just from an audience stand point, when it comes to Balanchine's version, I much prefer watching Dewdrop than Sugarplum. Which is saying a lot, because flowers is usually one of my least favorite dances. 😆 Something about Balanchine's version is just so beautiful though.

Dewdrop is magnificent when well danced. Luminous and incisive at the same time

    Hello,
A video about trying on costumes and the whole costume department at NYC Ballet would be really interesting.

Love this video! As a 40 year old teacher, it's also hard for me knowing how many of my teachers and even thanks to Covid, contemporaries, are now gone. In many ways, I feel so thankful for the gift that is video and pictures, as we can preserve so much of their talent, passion, expertise, and artistry. Thanks to this media, so many more are able to learn from masters they'd otherwise never have the chance to train alongside. Loving your perspective on wanting to train the next generation of dancers to be "better" than us in that they have the technical proficiency we were taught, alongside the mental and emotional intelligence to care for themselves in dance and beyond. ♥

The message you convey in this video is so important. I don't dance, and it still hit home. Thank you for having been so persistent in your life, it's been a privilege to see how your wings have carried despite all the hardships, and landed you where you are now. Best wishes from Finland. 🙏

I just watched your rehearsal and then Ashley Boulder's version lol. It's funny how I can watch her version and be like "Yeah, this IS Dewdrop" but then watch your version and feel like "Wait…THIS is Dewdrop" and your Dewdrops clearly have different personalities. She was pretty electric, like you said, so it's easy to see why others would want to emulate her, but yours works with the nature of the accompanying music and how stately it is as a waltz. It's interesting how they both work.

Could you explain the NYCB flowers costumes. ive always wondered about the little, almost bags that sit on either side in between the tiers. Do you have any insight into what those are or what they're there to communicate? Also I find it so interesting when you talk about what different ballets are like for dancers, such as your video about your first time dancing Nutcracker. So it would be very cool if you did something like "Swan Lake: Explained" where you cover what the show as a whole is like as a dancer/its reputation within the ballet community. For example how Peter Martins (or anyone elses, i dont really know famous ballet choreographers) choreo differens from Balanchine and how dancing romantic vs classical is different.

    hello, i have a question
could u make a video about trends in ballett, for example movements which have changed a little
i have noticed that every dance school has many different variants of holding the fingers in detail or turning with the food when they are standing in arabesque.
i hope u know what i mean. sorry that my english is maybe not the best.
    best wishes for you!

In the profession world, is it only the corps who plays multiple parts in one showing (Parents, Snowflakes, Flowers all in one showing of Nutcracker)? I'm just curious because at my dance school growing up, all of the 2 highest level classes would do Snow, and would be double cast in Flowers and act 2 soloist roles (so one year I did snow in act 1, and do either flowers or a soloist role in act 2 depending on the show).

What a spectacular dewdrop photo. Just discovered you so I haven’t watched much but I did watch the Miami ballet company debacle and I shake my head as I look at your perfect little ballerina figure. I’m sorry but dancing skeletons just don’t look pretty to me. Their limbs look strange…. You look like a delicate little healthy human. Perfection as a human can be. Those are some serious head and heart and spirit issues for them to harass you a size 2…
