Wow Elaine , I admire you , is there anything you cannot do? All on your own , doing all theses jobs around the garden , the house , etc.. awesome lady , well done you !
Sometimes when we find ourselves alone we have to dig in and do the hard work ourself. It’s so rewarding when a job is completed. You are doing a great job on your homestead .
Every plant or tree you pull the weeds away from is so delightful!!! I’m sure you must have a satisfying feeling too!! So serene to sit & enjoy the view. Tell Darren we miss him & Max too! Blessings! 💜
Anybody else say bless you when Elaine sneezed 😊. You are working so hard and the garden is looking lovely - even in that heat you keep going. What a great example you are of what perseverance can achieve 👍. Love your vlogs
Well done Elaine, you’ve worked so hard. I love seeing your routine between your village home and gardening on your land. Thanks for sharing your week with us 💛
Hello Elaine, It is good to see your fruit trees doing so well! I’ll have to try pickling some of my onions too! Thank you for the suggestion. Have a good week and thank you for sharing.
Love your videos, the land is looking so neat & tidy. The pickled onions look delicious, & the homemade bread is something I need to learn to make. Wishing you a productive & blessed week.
You're very good at organising your daily work, Elaine. And you also know how to make a good use of all the land production. Enjoy all your activities and take care❤
I am a new subscriber, I love how calmly you finish your projects! I love how you reward your self to tea which is typical of the British custom! I relate to you since I am in the same age category and am retired! Love from California!
You have an embarrassment of riches in those fruit trees! How amazing will those be when they grow?!!! It is so interesting to see your natural life living off the land and taking care of the farm. You are doing a great job!
You are a very courageous lady to look after your homestead by yourself. Praying for you that your husband joins you soon. You did make a lot of jars of strawberry jam with your strawberries, good for you. Through all of this time, you can choose some time to relax at your own pace. Take care 😊
Elaine ! Love how you feed the fruittrees , they must be thankfull 🌳 I dont know with other viewers but when you show the garden behind you , with the car , I am looking for a glimpse of Max . Even if I know the is not there ... greetings to Darren , and see you in the nextone ❤
Ur getting there, always plenty to do when growing ur own fruit & veg. Just a little advice those tiny oaks have self seeded, I would pull them out as too close to ur olive and fruit trees, when they grow they will restrict them, blocking out the sun etc and moisture which ur fruit trees will need 😉
In all honesty, if the oaks are doing that well without any help, then nature intended them to be there. They are long lasting, multi- biodiversity eco systems when mature, so no I will not pull them out
@PensionersinPortugal well eventually you will understand what I mean, your olive trees etc that are right next to them will suffer, as the oaks will take over. Obviously its your garden and your choice. Just trying to help. Just thought you could dig the oaks up and move them elsewhere, where they are not right next to other trees.
Sounds great! I used a mixture of my apple cider vinegar and red wine vinegar, so I hope that works....😁😁, been to the river beach for the afternoon, first swim of the year!!!
Your trees are looking lovely! I think you are a natural at growing things, green fingers, not just thumbs! I will have to try the hibiscus tea with ginger. Your are really doing a great job of clearing out the land, well done!
I’ve just made the same tea as yours, it’s a bit sour, I think I put too much lemon, but it tastes nice. I’ll improve my recipe next time. Have a good time. Hope your husband will return soon.🇫🇷
Well done you! Slow and steady wins the day. (Thats what my Nan always used to say). We planted an apple and pear tree ( bought from Lidl) about 10 years ago. The last 3 years we have had an amazing crop. It doesnt take long for them to really blossom. You also have given me the ooomph I need to tackle making my own sourdough bread However, I have decided to make a start when we get back from our holiday. Thanks for another great video.x
I could be wrong, but have been told that pear and apple trees need to be grown in pairs because they cross fertilize or something, so you need two apple trees (not necessarily the same kind) and two pear trees (not necessarily the same kind). Without the second one you won't get fruit. Just a beautiful tree. Does anyone have any experience with this? We have 2 pear trees at home and they are producing.
Elaine it's really good to see how your tree's are growing. Especially your fruit tree's and fruit on the plum tree's. I was looking at my pear and apple tree's nothing on the pear very tiny apples on the apple tree's. Its cold in southern Ireland for the past few days. I envy you and your beautiful sunshine 😂.I keep saying you are a very talented lady.Pickling baking and gardening among other job's. Take care and look after yourself. I hope Darren and Max are doing okay.I look forward to seeing you all together .God bless you xx
As always, Elaine you work so hard. Harriet and I worry about you. Pace yourself. Ask for help when you need it. Hopefully, Darren will be there soon to help. You've done such beautiful job by yourself. By the way, how is the pond doing ? All the best Dear friend, 🥰 Harriet, Jim and Yuki
Oh, the new trees are already producing fruits! Did I hear you say about the trees "when the strimming starts we can actually see them"?....I hope that means you'll have some help strimming, it's quite the field you've got there!! I pickled red onions a month ago for the first time, they were delicious! Loved your "reward break" on the porch there! Take care💕
Morning Katarina, thank you 💕 Yes....help in the form of lovely neighbour 'volunteered' by his wife 😁😁 I'm thinking about you this week, your house move must be soon!!🤞
@@PensionersinPortugal Yess!! Lovely neighbour helping you out! Moving date is in 4 weeks, July 1. Today I returned from a small vacation on an island in our archipelago, 27℃ and the first swim in the ocean. Heavy thunderstorm in the evening, just about got our dinner at the Inn, when the electricity went out in the restaurant kitchen, so the guests arriving after us couldn't get a warm meal. Have a nice weekend, I see you have just a little bit warmer than here at the moment. Take care!
A reward well earned! You are working very hard. Does look so nice. I am aiming to go home today unless doc says no… Bowel op so been frail and tender. Looking forward in seeing my garden again. Not much of a view here so I compensate with my u tubers. Keep up yr good work .
Your trees are coming on great Elaine and that's a great way to keep them hydrated. Back breaking like you say picking up all those stones though eh. Hey I've been trying out a very easy no knead bread recipe (not Sourdough). 525g strong bread flour, 7g quick acting yeast, 1 x tablespoon olive oil, 395ml warm water. Mix together thoroughly with a spoon and set aside for 30 mins covered with cling film. After 30 mins add 12g salt dissolved in 50ml warm water.. Mix with your hand (I just keep folding into the middle). This is quite a sloppy wet mix but that is correct ok. Cover with cling film and leave aside in a warm place for 3-4 hours. Set oven to 220°C and bake for 30-35 mins. (I do mine in a Dutch oven lined with baking paper, lid on for 25 and uncovered for 10). So easy and lovely soft fluffy bread. Enjoy it if you give it a try. Have a good week xxxx
What a good idea it was for you and Darrin to agree on you going to Spain, really enjoying your videos Elaine. Can you please tell me am I spelling hubby's name correctly, thankyou
That sounds like a nice tea recipe to try . I sometimes make it with cinnamon and orange zest added . I have been thinking of your sauerkraut recipe . Was it 2 teaspoons salt per head ? Sometimes mine is sooooo salty . Good job on tree prep , it will pay off.
I use a 2% solution, so weigh whatever cabbage you have and calculate 2%....it starts off salty, but doesn't stay that way....as it ferments it becomes more balanced 👍
Wow Elaine , I admire you , is there anything you cannot do? All on your own , doing all theses jobs around the garden , the house , etc.. awesome lady , well done you !

Are the trees planted too deep as well as too close together? together
