We show how to create an integrated building system that combines generative architectural geometry with building energy and structural simulations. We automate annual radiation simulations with Radiance to quantify the impact of a complex shading system that serves as the building's structure.
Creative architectural expression is not in direct conflict with sustainable building design but can indeed enable highly efficient structures that use significantly less embodied and operational carbon. Solar exoskeletons - a new typology for more sustainable tall buildings of the future!
