I tracked both side by side with 2 long and mcquade employees. We all agreed the 5 is a much better pedal. The classic mode sounded better than the classic whammy.
Almost sold my 4 today but thanks to this I'm keeping it for the glitchy stuff. Thankfully there are true bypass and wet/dry blend mods out there. No problem.
I have a whammy 4 which I mainly use for 1 octave upwards bends or in divebomb mode. I'd prefer to leave it on all the time (no pitch shift in heel position, move the pedal to toe position to apply effect) but doing do significantly degrades my tone. Please can you confirm that the whammy 5 sounds better than the 4 with the effect on/in, but with 0 semitones shift (heel position)? becaus ethat is the impression I get from this video...
the true bypass on the 5 really works, in the 4 if u like all make the true bypass mod, i sell mine the 4 version and some day have to buy the 5 i prefer
I genuinely can't understand how some people prefer the 4's glitches over 5's clean sound. And here I was, thinking that broken sound was just a thing of cheap multieffect units.
Damn difficult to find demos with more saturated distortion surprisingly, given that Dimebag Darrel must have been the most obvious Whammy user. The clean sounds more like a shotty clone of Steve Vai's Ballerina.
luis antonio castillo alfaro no, the whammy 4 requires an AC power supply (very high current draw, like just under 1000mA) and the 5 requires a DC power supply and has a fairly low current draw at 300mA.
Raymon Rodriguez, get a Studio. Same cost as a Fender, better sound, playability, and sounds the same as a Gibson Standard, just without the fancy finish. You hear a lot of trash talk about Studio's, but I promise you, they are just as good.
The 5 is obviously better in terms of meeting functional goals but the 4 just has a beautiful sense of messed up that I like.
I agree the classic mode on the V needed more break up
yeah, i agree. the warble is a flaw that's become a feature.
plus, the wet/dry split outs can be really useful and the V just doesn't have 'em.
1:31 woa dude, that was extreme vagueness

The 4 would be nice in a studio where it can be handled well. But live, the 5 would be fine because it's more "tame" as you rightly said.
Classic mode (on 2 oct+) of the 5 tries to sound like the 4 but it’s not enough, the 4 has a better crunchy classic sound.
I much prefer the better tracking of the 5.
I use the harmony shifts with 2 note power chords so the 5 might be better again for that reason.
Love the glitchiness of the 4, the 5 sounds too clean.
Well when you play it you won't prefer it randomly making you sound bad
i prefer the whammy V as it doesn't have the glitchy sound when you hold a chord
the whammy v has a switch to enable the old glitchy sound, so it has both

both good but i'll say 5 chords on 5 sound better..... thanks great video

In your opinon which is the best Whammy? and great videos man ;)
Hi friend! Is it true that The Whammy 4 sucks tone or is it a lie?
OMG Hawk Eye plays guitar !!!
Is whammy 4 true bypass or buffer?
IV for me.
U know ur supposed to use ur foot on the pedal, not ur hand
666 Horsepower ok boomer
The 4 is better in my opinion. The 5 sounds weak in comparison
Could the whammmy 4 Works with whammy 5 power supply?
I thought one was AC and the other DC, so the answer would be no.

do u think that is posible to run the 4 with a power supply moore s8?
Elliott Smith risen from the grave!
The 5 gen sounds way to processed
Too
I used to have a 4, and that sounds more processed.
F it, ill get both heh
Fenders blow, buy a Gibson or schekter and get back with me
Gibson is expensive as fuck, If I had a good gibson, I would never take it out of the case

Fuck off
Ok boomer
I’ve never understood this extreme brand loyalty bullshit. If it sounds good to you, use it. If it doesn’t, then don’t.
