Rabea has a George Agdgdgwngo t-shirt on, whilst playing Tom Morello riffs, with a whammy, and he has an afro. Oooh, did you hear that? That was the dictionaries changing the definition of cool...
@kantefier We found the shift function seemed to handle anything we threw at it - I'm not sure how complicated our chords are, but we didn't notice anything trouble the new Whammy.
I respect him as a musician. That is all though. He isn't a rock god who saved Rock and Roll like some people seem to think. He's talented, and I even liked some of the music from The White Stripes. Music is an art, not a competition.
Following the amazing reviews i went ahead and purchased this pedal, it's an amazing piece of kit! Some issues though: 1) in my experience i loose gain in the drop tune setting, no problem in the whammy/harmony section. 2) If you unplug the pedal from the mains yet keep it in the signal chain it will not bypass, i thought that is what true bypass meant, maybe i'm wrong. 3)This pedal is HUGE! I laughed at people who were mentioning this but since buying it i see what they mean now.
i just bought it... on amazon (sorry cap but i’m from italy and i found it on offer and prime shipping). and you guys start off with limp bizkit and rage! i love you
I have this pedal and it is beyond amazing! Hands down my favorite guitar pedal ever! It puts all previous versions of the whammy pedal to shame. Dive Bomb, Octave, and harmonizing a Fifth up are my favorite settings. I even use the chorusing effect with my church band. Not cheap but well worth the extra
@kantefier This pedal does a really good job of keeping your sound nice and clear. I would imagine that the lower you decide to pitch shift the chord, the harder it will become for the pedal to do it comfortably. But for most things relating to your question, it's pretty awesome!! Cheers ; )
been waiting for you to demo this.. sweeeeeet not sure if this is more of play toy more then a musical item :P but from what ive seen it can be used for pretty epic sauceness
@KhaarJoon The "Rob Chapman" band currently consists of session players Paul 'Stick' Annis, Rabea 'Tiny' Masad and Dave 'Slap' Hollingworth - I'm sure videos of their jam will be up soon :)
These guys likely don't have the whammy in their rigs but they did OK but it's the interesting way they arrive at their comments that keeps bringing me back.
@a7x3908 cheers man. it's nothing written. i was just jamming really. glad you like it though. i'm gonna buy one of these after playing with it. so much fun
@jschwind435 You're right, he's only won 9 Grammy's, released 10 albums, is working on his 11th, started and run his own record label, made Rolling Stone's Top 100 guitarists and pretty much kept Rock and Roll Alive.
Nice demo, guys! pretty cool pedal! Have you checked out the Morpheus Bomber Guitar FX Pedal as well? That looks like a really cool wammy pedal as well.
@OBPmusical There is an expression pedals on the GT which can be use as a wah wah pedals or volume pedals etc... Now go on the "master pedals FX" option and turn the selector on "pedal bend FX". You can also setup the fx , that's all.
excellent review... i don't suppose theres any chance of you guys doing some Bass gear reviews soon? i would love to see how this pedal does with bass, since the digitech bass whammys are expensive rare antiques...
I really like your idea... I will attempt to tell all my friends to come here and like your comment! I really like these guys they are talented and VERY funny I think!
I'm both happy and sad about the fact that its polyphonic now. I like that you can pitch shift entire chords now, but ill miss the glitchy monophonic sounds of my older whammy.
Well, plenty of professional musicians use it (such as Tom Morello, Dan Auerbach, Jack White, David Gilmour), and it tracks pretty well from what I've heard of it. Not to mention that this is improved from previous versions.
@phlorgan I loved it mate, it's really a writing tool... I think that's the best way to view it - If you write a good riff/song with it then it's worth it. Don't just get one and shred lead, it's not that kind of tool ;-)
@mr4y this Whammy is Capo, DropTune and Bomber pedals on a single box man. Im not saying that whammy is better then all of them but you can save some space on the pedal board
technically its a dream pedal, but for the sound it seem more a music room toy than device usable on stage or recording. i would still buy one if the price tag was lower
That's a great review, thanks a lot guys! Though there's one question that bothers me: how well does Whammy shift complicated chords? Do they sound clear or there are some distorts? My G-major2 handles complicated (or whatsoever they are called, I mean not just A or Am, but A7 or things like that) chords really bad, shifted chords sound like some alien shimmering chaotic disaster.
Hey guys, is there any difference between the DT portion of the Whammy 5 with the actual standalone DT pedal that Digitech has recently released? Specifically, are there any improvements in terms of the latency issues on the standalone DT? Could you guys perhaps do a video comparing the Whammy DT, the standalone DT, and the EHX Pitchfork?? Thanks :)
aektzis91 The standalone Drop pedal doesn't have the uptune capabilities, only the droptune capabilities. I was about to buy the Drop pedal, then I saw a great price on the Whammy DT with free patch cables so I went ahead and ordered this. Hope this helps!
Polyphonic so no matter what chords you play it tracks to a T like the POG or HOG by ehx. Don't know if that helps with the info, good demo by the way.
Greetings from 2020: Rob was a better guitarist in 2011, but Rabea caught up and surpassed him.
it all depends on how much time you dedicate to your inspiration
Different goals:)
2:28 BEA YOU JUST BLEW MY MIND!
i always wondered how to play the intro to voice of the voiceless... and the answer was in a pedal demo from 2011
These guys do the BEST pedal demos. They play a lot of different styles, not just clean fender strat
The dude with the fro kept me watching
the crowd loves it what can i say, probably the best in a live show , great for solo rythm everything, very good product.
Ordered mine today. Can't wait to get it next week. Been wanting one for a long time. The DT made me finally jump.
Rabea has a George Agdgdgwngo t-shirt on, whilst playing Tom Morello riffs, with a whammy, and he has an afro. Oooh, did you hear that? That was the dictionaries changing the definition of cool...
On a nuno bettencourt signature Washburn
@kantefier We found the shift function seemed to handle anything we threw at it - I'm not sure how complicated our chords are, but we didn't notice anything trouble the new Whammy.
You can do more with this pedal than make a guitar sound like a Nintendo on crack.
nice to hear a demo of ANYTHING, were folks can actually play.
I respect him as a musician. That is all though. He isn't a rock god who saved Rock and Roll like some people seem to think. He's talented, and I even liked some of the music from The White Stripes. Music is an art, not a competition.
Looking for reviews on these, and what a lovely wave of nostalgia for these old school Andertons demos.
Following the amazing reviews i went ahead and purchased this pedal, it's an amazing piece of kit! Some issues though:

and i paid 180 euros!
Better than any other whammy demos.. Thanks guys. Awsome!
And that solo from like a stone. really well done
You guys kick arss! Great playing/humor/tone/overview! Keep up the good work boys. I'm gonna be using this beast for my Electric Violin;)
Funny to see the confidence and attitude change over time.
Great Pedal in 2023 and no one else has produced like it, not even BOSS
I have this pedal and it is beyond amazing! Hands down my favorite guitar pedal ever! It puts all previous versions of the whammy pedal to shame. Dive Bomb, Octave, and harmonizing a Fifth up are my favorite settings. I even use the chorusing effect with my church band. Not cheap but well worth the extra
I'm glad you are making a demo of this Whammy DT. Nice video, makes it even more desirable! And cheers on the RATM/Audioslave stuff :D
lovely washburn. i iown one from 95. still love to play it. was my first electric guitar
I don't know what I liked better, the pedal or watching the guys shred on it. Awesome video boys
Always a good day when I see you uploaded a new vid! My ML1 is being customized right now!:D.
Has to be the best whammy demo out there :)
Thank Rob
one of the better Whammy demo's out there.... really gd one guys :)
Rob, I think that rendition if Canon has finally given me a reason to buckle down and learn to sweep :)
Keep it up.
i think technically speaking, you are one the best guitarist in the world Rob
Rob`s new videos is always the highlight of my day :;D
Epic! Nice demo. Sounds great.
And I just bought a Digitech Whammy 4V last month. Fantastic.....
Whammy Pedal Demo and all of a sudden the 90s Alt Rock/Metal is whipped out
@kantefier
This pedal does a really good job of keeping your sound nice and clear. I would imagine that the lower you decide to pitch shift the chord, the harder it will become for the pedal to do it comfortably. But for most things relating to your question, it's pretty awesome!!

ULTIMATE WIN OF ALL PEDALS
@KhaarJoon The "Rob Chapman" band currently consists of session players Paul 'Stick' Annis, Rabea 'Tiny' Masad and Dave 'Slap' Hollingworth - I'm sure videos of their jam will be up soon :)
It must be great fun to use such a whammy with a sustainer.
These guys likely don't have the whammy in their rigs but they did OK but it's the interesting way they arrive at their comments that keeps bringing me back.
@TheVisualMagic Thanks mate, it was great fun... I had my whole band at the Studio and we filmed some jams etc ;-)
You guys are so great, all of your reviews are helpful and entertaining :)
@GuitarguyAndy Thanks mate, myself and the guys appreciate that ;-)
wow, u guys are such a cool bunch!!! great presentation of the pedal too!...
@a7x3908 cheers man. it's nothing written. i was just jamming really. glad you like it though. i'm gonna buy one of these after playing with it. so much fun
I suscribed to that afro guy some days ago, but I didn't knew he played in your band, he is really good
@OBPmusical The GT10 (like most mulit FX units) has a whammy immitation, but none of the multi FX units do whammy as well as the proper Digitech unit.
Great tone off that tele
Was that by any chance in Stick's studio?
oh damn Bea's hands are Epicly HUGE!!!!!!!!!!
ordered one on ebay new with warranty for $30.00 off hope it gets here soon
When I heard Bea was joining the band, I actually wondered how long it'd be before we saw a video of Rob getting his sweaty paws on that N4 :D
a must buy.can make a 6 string a 7 string, and a 7 string an 8 string...at the touch of a button.Revolutionary
that sweep lick at 8:15 was beautiful
you make demo's very awesome rob
the audioslave solo was awesome.
@jschwind435 You're right, he's only won 9 Grammy's, released 10 albums, is working on his 11th, started and run his own record label, made Rolling Stone's Top 100 guitarists and pretty much kept Rock and Roll Alive.
This demo makes me happy o_o
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE AND LIMP BIZKIT!!!! OMFG! Great bands to showcase this :D
Nice demo, guys! pretty cool pedal! Have you checked out the Morpheus Bomber Guitar FX Pedal as well? That looks like a really cool wammy pedal as well.
Rabea is a damn guitar beast!
For the semitone drops
@OBPmusical There is an expression pedals on the GT which can be use as a wah wah pedals or volume pedals etc... Now go on the "master pedals FX" option and turn the selector on "pedal bend FX". You can also setup the fx , that's all.
Chappers looks tiny at 01:35 ! Nice video !
excellent review... i don't suppose theres any chance of you guys doing some Bass gear reviews soon?
i would love to see how this pedal does with bass, since the digitech bass whammys are expensive rare antiques...
@saturnoenllamas it seems to track allot better and the gain loss/true bypass thing is quite a massive improvement
Using a guy with an afro of win as extra sound proofing was a great idea.
Really awesome demo!
That N4..... *drool*
I love that guy's hair!
I really like your idea...
I will attempt to tell all my friends to come here and like your comment!
I really like these guys they are talented and VERY funny I think!
literallt best whammy vid out there :D
it actually does work on a boss powersupply
That guy's got some epic buzz Ozbourne-style hair :D
I'm both happy and sad about the fact that its polyphonic now. I like that you can pitch shift entire chords now, but ill miss the glitchy monophonic sounds of my older whammy.
Sounds good ML!
Very nice review amazing keep rolling !!!!!!!!
Thats a pretty epic pedal..

Wow chappers, your first playing sounds like the band Element Eighty! :D
Nuno himself should get one of these. He's already fucking PYROTECHNIC on the guitar. This would just add to his ever-expanding range.
3:30 - 3:32 is like "Thanks lord for this awesome pedal"
That tapping at 8:25 is very cool.
+Herreken it's "Flight of the Wounded Bumble Bee" by Extreme (on the album it's at the start of "He Man Woman Hater")
@mr4y this Whammy is Capo, DropTune and Bomber pedals on a single box man. Im not saying that whammy is better then all of them but you can save some space on the pedal board
Didn't know the English Kool-Aid had a fro. Sure can kill it on a guitar though!
I would love it if you could demo some EHX pedals!
Glad I bought mine for 120 second hand now after seeing it was over £300 7 years ago! 😱 😱 😱 😱
The detuner on this sounds better than the morpheus droptune
I enjoyed this demo :)
This is AMAZING, do you know if you get these kind of effects on a boss GT-10?
Digitech for the METAL-ish WIN!
technically its a dream pedal, but for the sound it seem more a music room toy than device usable on stage or recording. i would still buy one if the price tag was lower
That's a great review, thanks a lot guys!

PUR-CHASE!!
i love that word

That video needs to exist!
Amazing pedal and awesome playing guys \m/
But what is the song from around 1:28 +
This pedal is true bypass or regular. You can set it up either way. Instructions are in the mannual
What's in the water over there? Everyone he knows is amazing at guitar.
@Phantazmelodia It's polyphonic, so yes it will track chords.
Polyphonic so no matter what chords you play it tracks to a T like the POG or HOG by ehx.
Don't know if that helps with the info, good demo by the way.
@5Harring I agree completely, although I must admit I'm not too familiar with any of the other users.
Actually hold the fuck on @Robchappers I smelled a Joe Satriani tone during this video with that Cornford amp/washburn combination. JOLLY GOOD.
