- I have 2 other videos showing these green giants, October 1 (or Sept 30) 2018, 2019 and this one October 2020. I have also included the 2021 video. The growth is pretty dramatic. We are in a suburb of Portland Oregon so firmly in the Pacific Northwest where these things grow well. Here are the links to the 2018 and 2019 videos:
2018: • Green giant growth 9/3...
And 2019: ua-cam.com/users/results?searc...
Here's 2020: • green giant growth 7-8...
Here is the video from October 2021. another 2-3 feet of growth
• green giant growth - 1...
Here is the 2022 growth video: • green giant growth: 1...
Thanks for the video - I just planted 12 of these 5 ft apart as a privacy fence in NC - looking forward to their rapid growth!
Thank for this video, will definitely be recommending these trees to a friend and sharing your videos.
Thanks for updating
Wow, that is already one hell of a sweet hedge row(s), it's going to be phenomenal in just a few years (heading to your 2022 update video next).I'm looking to replace a 40-50 foot privacy screen in the spring and am torn as to which arborvitae or juniper...or yew...or cypress lol I'm going to use.
pronounced thoo-ya 😉You can get them to grow a lot thicker and denser if you prune them properly. You don’t want them to be lanky, however tall. You want them to be dense and full. They are wonderful trees, I have 40 of them. For anyone else interested these can also be clipped into a neat hedge but don’t ever top them, you can taper the top but don’t ever touch the leader. Thank you for the video!
Thank you for this video. It’s helpful
Everyone else has 0 lot line - look at you with your giant yard! Congrats!
super helpful video series
Gerry
Would love to see an update! They look spectacular!
Excellent video, but you must keep making them for years to come! Your growth progress is great, I also planted mine about 2.5 years ago, I'm averaging 2.5-3ft a year in the north east, You've got me beat. One thing I noticed was this year we had a very dry summer and the progress slowed down for sure. A lot of them developed cones and seemed a bit stressed. Rain picked up now and they are shooting up again. They definitely like a ton of water and a ton of sun
These things are definitely able to endure harsh conditions. I planted some yearlings in late October and they survived the -10 below zero winter temps here in Texas and they're thriving and growing super fast. Pretty soon i will be saying... bye bye neighbors. 👋
They'll make a beautiful hedge. How are the ones behind your shed faring?
Nice! I planted mine a couple years ago and they’ve grown maybe 4 feet. I have a mixed privacy screen. I didn’t want to plant rows of these in case they develop some kind of pest or something and I lose all my privacy.
did you use fertilizers? If yes when? 1 time or 2 times a year?
Gerry thank you for the informative video - very healthy looking trees. You mentioned they were perhaps too close to the fence. How far away from the fence did you plant them?
It's gonna be heavenly when they're all at max height!
nice video. How far did you plant the trees from the fence?
They are really beautiful. Do you have them on irrigation? Water by hand or just leave it to rainfall? Thank you.
Thuja green giant goals!
