@@masterpassword7520 still researching but read at least 2-3 ft away/apart. The side I planned to place the trees is sloped so I may place farther than suggested.
I am planting some today and have been going back and forth on the distance apart. They are almost 6' and pretty lush. I don't want to wait years to block my neighbor's windows. It's good to see that 2 1/2 feet apart will still grow up to be beautiful healthy trees. This was my main concern. Thanks for the great video!

Growing a solid hedge is done often. You are fortunate that yours stayed nice and green. Some browning out happens in my area MI zone 6. These are very common in many yards, so I said "never". That is until I bought & planted the 1st one, then another, and so on. But a used plant is even better yet if a guy can get them! If I ever got the chance for some used I would find some space for a few more..

Very nice job and well explained - all looking good. I'm going to plant the same type of hedge very soon. Here in the UK I am advised that I can leave the hessian wrap (cloth ) and the wire mesh on the root balls when I plant them as they are both de-composable. I am now worried that I should remove them as I think you mentioned. If anyone knows the answer please let me know - I would be very grateful - thanks.
Thanks Brian I appreciate the feedback. Yes I would personally at least put some slits in the fabric. But in either case I'm sure you will be just fine. The roots will grow out of them. I did remove the burlap from mine when I planted
If you leave something in front of them that blocks the sun. That section will die. I piled up some firewood on one side of my 5 trees. The bottom facing the firewood died on all 5 trees.
They are mosquito nests. I made the mistake of planting some next to my porch. They are tough. I had some 12 footers by the road. During a bad snow storm one of them broke in half. I cut it off and in 3 years you could not tell. It looked just like the the others next to it.
Awesome update! When you moved the two in the back, did you space them 30in apart like the rest of the hedge or go 48in like your neighbor's hedge? Also, do you have to do any extra work on the ones planted 30in apart to keep them from browning?
Do you have a problem with bag worms on your trees? I'm looking for a hedge type tree and am thinking about this type to keep my VERY nosy neighbors prying eyes out of my backyard. I'll have about 50 or 60 linear feet that needs to be covered. In Northwestern Missouri here. Glad I found your channel!
Never heard of Bagworms until they killed 3 of mine pretty quick it seemed. I basically picked them all off and threw them in the fire pit. You will have to keep an eye out for the ones you missed and go over the tree several times and through the summer. They hang on branch with a silky thread and will suffocate the branches so you should try to remove the threading. I used a small/fine pair of electrician diagnols FWIW. Not sure if there is a holistic remedy but having 2 kids doesn't lend itself to sit down and research it thoroughly. Haven't figured out how to prevent them yet as I was gonna transfer one today but just found out it should be done in the fall.
