I cant believe nobody has even mentioned the greatest joke in the film...
Dean Martin
I guess only the old folks like me got that one....
I laughed every time and those guys have played Dean Martin's songs on their channel before so i thought for sure they would get that joke but..... no luck.
Since he's university staff, he's probably also a Doc Marten.
They are too young to know who Dean Martin was/is
Back when I saw this in the theater, multiple times...it got big laughs. And we were teenagers!
it's the joke that keeps giving, every time one talks to him or mentions him.
Danny Elfman is also the lead singer of Oingo Boingo, who are the band in the movie.
He is also married to Bridget Fonda
Elfman's is the only movie music creator album I ever bought. So tite on so many. Didnt know this was one. Thanks
This movie made me love Oingo Boingo.
or the super or my cousin vinny lol.
@@jmillz713 Then I recommend the Oingo Boingo movie, Forbidden Zone, written and directed by Danny Elfman's brother, Richard, and is the first film Danny did the music for.
"Call me when you have no class" is the funniest joke in the movie.
For me it was "Maybe you can help me straighten out my Longfellow."
@@stanmann356 That's a good one to.
Yes!!!
CLASSIC line!
And they barely smiled at it.
Legend has it. That in the 80s they had the actor that plays the blonde jerk diver in a glass case with a caption that said "if 80s villian needed, break glass". He played the bad guy in Karate Kid & Just One of the Guys"
Patton Oswalt does a bit called “the legend of Johnny Lawerence” and points out this strange coincidence
Was also Audrey'a BF in European Vacation.
That was Johnny?! Damnit THATS why I thought he looked Familiar in that movie😂🎉@@nluna75
He’s so funny as Johnny Lawrence in the Kobra Kai series
SAY IT!!!!! SAY IT!!!!!!😂😂😂😂
R.I.P. Sam Kinison and Rodney Dangerfield
R.I.P. Kurt Vonnegut
@jimtatro6550 MORE CAPITAL T!! MORE CAPITAL T!!! IF you know well then, you know... Something tells me that you might know. XOXO 😉💜💋😂😎 #NYGenXBIKERLady
And Burt Young
R.I.P. , M. Emmet Walsh, Ned Beatty & Sally Kellerman.
Sam Kinison as Professor Terguson. Rodney helped Sam launch his career as a stand up comic. Before becoming a stand up comedian Sam was a Pentecostal preacher. That's where he got his legendary scream. Sam appeared in Bon Jovi "Bad Medicine" video ya'll reacted to a while back
RIP Sam. The 9th Annual Young Commedian's Special on HBO was phenomenal. Everyone, including Bob Saget, was on fire. It's how I became aware of Sam Kinison.
Sam was also the driver of the Dr. Feelgood Ambulance Limo from Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart" video.
Got to see Sam Kinison sing Are You Lonesome Tonight on Carson OMG
Good Comment,..... GOOD COMMENT. I Like the way you think. I'm going to be watching you.
I'll saayyyyy iiiiiittttttt. Sam Kinison was a Tulsa native.
Rodney Dangerfield is a legit Comedy LEGEND! RIP.
"Why don't you call me sometime when you have no class" is a great joke.
The Kurt Vonnegut scene still makes me laugh. Only Dangerfield could deliver it. 🤣
When I saw this in the theatre, I started laughing as soon as the door opened. I guess I was the only one in the audience who knew who Kurt Vonnegut was..
@@raymondohlsen5054Backstory: The producers originally wanted Gore Vidal, but he was still living in Italy at the time. So Vonnegut was second choice.
Rip to both Sam and Rodney two legends.
What about Burt?
His son is from "Christine" the haunted car. And then you got Iron Man his friend.
Don't forget Pauly from Rocky
That girl that plays his love interest also plays his girlfriend in "Christine".
No, Catherine Mary Stewart plays his gf in Christine, she's not in Back to School. This is a different but similar looking actress. @patriciamonsivaiz3305
And he was in The Legend Of Billie Jean as well.

@RoadDoug Grace in the Bible means "undeserved favor". We all deserve Hell, but Jesus died for our sins. We all must hope for grace and mercy in heaven.
I'm sorry if my comment angered some. But many people can't deal with reality today. I believe my own father is in Hell of his own accord. And I loved him a lot.
If you think I'm wrong about Sam, then feel free to prove it. Otherwise that's my opinion.
Rodney was such a treasure. Easy Money with Joe Pesci is another great movie! And I have to edit, Lou crushing that napkin dispenser with his hand was the ultimate tough-guy move. That move always cracks me up.
+1 for Easy Money
THey will also love the title track to movie which is done by Billy Joel.
Another for Easy Money
Easy Money is easily his best, lol.
Another for Easy Money
“ What’s a bath without Bubbles” Hey Bubbles come here 😃
That one is my favorite! 😂
For the record, that is the real Kurt Vonnegut. And you recognized both Danny Elfman's name and Oingo Boingo's music, but yeah, he was the lead singer. This was his second film score, after Pee-wee's Big Adventure, which put him on the map.
"Girls, this is Lou. Lou, these are girls." Cracks me up every time.
He could lose his trigger finger
Rodney Dangerfield was a national treasure, he just couldn’t get any respect. 😂 ✌️
He couldn't get no respect from nobody, when he was born the doctor slapped his mother.. the nurse got a few licks in too.
This movie is a comedic masterpiece!!
Sam Kinison made this movie for me!
His girlfriend is Sally Kellermam, who played Hotlips in the original MASH movie.

The lead singer for Oingo Boingo is Danny Elfman. As far as Robert Downey Jr. He made a movie called "Less Than Zero" that I believe revealed the exceptional acting talent that Robert Downey Jr. is loaded with. He also had a similar role to this character in "Weird Science".
Yes Less Than Zero would be a great movie to react to.
Yes. "Less Than Zero" is an awesome movie. But a real downer. I always cry at the end.
@@scorpiouk5914 I agree with you.
I've been requesting Less Than Zero for quite some time. I agree that the end is a Kleenex warning BUT like OP said it really showed his chops. Another absolute favorite of mine is Chaplin. He was born for that role as much as he was for Iron Man. Jules was also made for him, in a tragic way but all of those show just how broad his range is. He also did a documentary with his father. About his father's crazy life and RDJ's childhood amongst all the crazy. It really shows how and why he became the man he was and is now. It was such a beautiful tribute to RDS.
Robert Downey Jr. Is his friend. Iron Man.
And the gf was Terry Ferrell, who played Lt. Jadzia Dax from Star Trek DS9.
@@Rebelrocker69 She was on the tv show Becker too
Not much of 1 in weird science
I love Sam Kinison. So did Rodney. Rodney helped Sam break through as a major stand-up comedian in the 80's, and when Rodney landed this film, he made sure to get Sam a part...it was the biggest exposure Sam had had to that point (after he appeared on David Letterman's Late Show the year before), and after the film came out, everyone wanted more Sam Kinison.
Filmed at The University of Wisconsin. I grew up there. A kid I went to school with was an extra on the film. "Grand Lakes University" Madison Wisconsin was built on land between 5 lakes, Monona, Mendota, Wabesa, Kigansa and Wingra. Rodney Dangerfield don't get no respect. He had the best comedic timing of any stage comedian of his time. It's a fun Movie.
Adrienne Barbeau was a 70s and 80s young teen guys poster dream girl! She was in the TV show Maude and in the Kurt Russell John Carpenter movie, Escape from New York!!!
She also had a role in Steven King's Creepshow as Billie
😂😂😂
I'll always remember her as Selina Kyle / Catwoman in Batman: The Animated Series.
Don't forget The Fog (1980).
Swamp thing
@@SergioArellano-yd7ik I forgot about that!
I used to watch at least one movie every single night with my partner. Last November, he passed away suddenly. There has been such an enormous crater in my soul since November that I have been unable to watch a movie, much less alone.
I came across your channel about a month ago (I think it was your Star Wars journey) and got sucked in. I literally JUST finished your League of Their Own video and was alerted to this new video.
You two are such a beautiful incredible couple together. I don't know you from a can of paint aside from these videos, but I still feel like I know you both. I am so happy for you two and your gorgeous family. Come back to Orlando soon!
And, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for helping me out of this funk. God bless you.
They are indeed very special young people- still you see their gorgeous kids! So sorry for your loss. ❤
So sorry about your partner. Prayers for you and glad you found their channel.
Sorry about your loss.
I am so sorry for your loss . I am so glad you decided to take a chance and start watching movie again that is one thing that will help keep them with you.
They are a special couple that really cares about everyone
William Zabka plays the popular diver. He also played Johnny Lawrence in Karate Kid.
Rodney is a National Treasure 🤩
The personal secretary was also the principal secretary in Ferris bueller's day off.
Amber mentioned it was hard to imagine Jason (Keith Gordon) "bad". Next time you're looking for another scary movie, give "Christine" (1983, directed by John Carpenter of 'Halloween' fame) a try. Very convincing turn he gives in that one.
"Show me"
Had NO idea he played in Jaws 2 as the smart but self deprecating teenager with the glasses.

Yep. Keith Gordon was excellent in Christine! He was also in the 80s movie The Legend of Billie Jean.
You've got Rodney Dangerfield you got the guy from Rocky the son from Christine the best friend is Iron Man the bad guy is from Karate Kid the band Oingo Boingo the secretary from Ferris Bueller's Day Off!! Man what a cast of characters!!
Ned Beatty was immortalized in “ Deliverance”.
@@TheDivayentaWhat about "Hear My Song"?
And she was also Mrs. Poole, next door neighbor on 80's sitcom Valerie, later renamed Hogan Family.
Few comedians were as good at the self-deprecatong one-liners as Rodney Dangerfield.

You need to watch “Revenge of the Nerds”
oooooooffff. That movie won't go over well in today's modern audience.
@@mhill781yeah but you got to admit it was one funny movie.
@@mhill781 Better to go with Real Genius
That movie and Porky's are both classic raunch comedies, but audiences today will clutch their pearls over these two movies. They did watch Fast Times At Ridgemont High though. So you never know.
@@mhill781
It will be my favorite college movie along with Animal House.
Ned Beatty was the Dean. Most famous for his role in "Deliverance" and being Lex Luthor's henchman in Superman from 1978.
EDIT: The diving competition, at the end, was covered by Sum41 in their hit "In Too Deep".
You sure have a pretty mouth
'Before the end credits, the message "For ESTELLE Thanks For So Much" is shown in dedication to Estelle Endler, one of the executive producers of the film, who died during production. She was Dangerfield's long-time manager, who helped him get into films such as Caddyshack.'
I think you would love "Johnny Dangerously". It's a comedy set in the 1930's about a gangster who's little brother, who doesn't know his older brother is a gangster, decides to become a District Attorney. It's directed by Amy Heckerling, the actors are Michael Keaton, Joe Piscopo, Marilu Henner, and Maureen Stapleton.
I love this movie but Easy Money is his best movie. On a side note, you should react to Wildcats. It's a high school football movie where Goldie Hawn is the coach.
There is Caddyshack also.
Wildcats is amazing
It's been ages, but I remember Wildcats. It was good!
U.g.l.y. Cheerleader routine is the best. I still reference that all the time.
Easy money is hilarious
Rodney Dangerfield was a comic beast!!
Eddie Murphy had a story one time where he said he met Dangerfield in the beginning of stand-up career, and Dangerfield told him that if he didn't tone down the cursing he wouldn't get anywhere..... Years later, after Eddie blew up and became a mega box office star, he ran into Dangerfield again in a men's room, and Dangerfield just turned to him at the urinal and said, "Hey, who knew?" LMBO!!
Sam Kinison is a comedy legend. A true one-of-a-kind comedian, for real.
Saw this in theatre, part of a double feature. 2nd movie was Big Trouble in Little China as no one knew where to put that movie. I loved them both.
Wow that was a great double bill! I forgot about Big Trouble in Little China. Another one they should react to.
Also Burt Young who played Paulie in Rocky was actually a boxer in real life. He compiled a 17-0 record fighting under different aliases after going 30-2 in teh NAVY as an amateur.
You have to see Mrs. Adrienne Barbeau in 2 must see 80's movies, Escape from New York and The Fog, both Thrillers, but you'll love them! She played Rodney Dangerfield's wife in this movie.
The Fog was such a good movie. I'm surprised it doesn't get more attention when people react to the 70's/80s movies
Escape From New York and the Fog are both must-see movies!
Also in the road race comedy movie... Cannonball ...
This is absolutely my favorite movie starring Rodney Dangerfield. It's so well written, and he's just so fun in it. So many good lines! I'm glad you've reacted to this one, as for the most part nobody has, and it deserves some love.
You had to cut my favorite line. "What did he want?" "What do all men want?" "He wanted you to dress up like Wonder Woman, tie him up with your golden lariat, and force him to tell the truth?" XD
haha I always wondered why they thought that character would deliver that line.
Mrs. Doubtfire with Robin Williams should be on your 90's comedy list. As parents you'll appreciate it even more. :)
"HELL LOOO!!"
Next up for more Dangerfield: Easy Money (1983) !
Robert Downey, Jr. was twenty years old when this movie came out. So, definitely a baby-face.
Also both he and Anthony Michael Thomas were on Saturday Night Live when this movie was released.
Burt Young (R.I.P.) [portrayed Lou] actually was a tough guy in real life. He served in the US Marine Corps. While in the Marine Corps, he boxed regularly, winning 32 of 34 boxing bouts.
I am so darn excited to watch this reaction video. I grew up with this movie and it is one of my all time favorite 80s comedies. I have seen it dozens of times and I still laugh every single time. From the title of this video, it appears you thought it was funny as well! Glad you enjoyed it. Besides Rodney, Burt Young (Paulie and Lou in this film), and Robert Downey Jr., the blonde haired college jerk was the same guy from The Karate Kid. He played a jerk in a lot of 80s movies! He was good at it. The history teacher who was yelling was Sam Kinison, a comedian from back in the day that died young in a car accident. He was raunchy and funny as hell. I think Rodney got him his start in the 80s if I am not mistaken.
Mellon's son starred in Christine too in 83. Weird part is the girl playing his good-looking girlfriend. Looks a lot like the girl in this movie too. But different actresses. Christine is based off a Stephen King book of the same name. It was directed and music by director John Carpenter/ The FOG/Halloween/ The THING 1982.
I was a critical teen moviegoer when this came out and my friends couldn't believe how much I laughed and loved it. The 1985 audience ate this up. Or drank it down....There's some nice moments with Rodney that sold him as a good actor here. Because Dangerfield was so well-known, when the kid tugs on his collar just like him, the audience laughed.
Glad you mentioned how the kid who played him as a kid was doing all the physical stuff. We loved that too when we saw it. Didn't see it at the theater though, we rented it.
That is Robert Downey Jr. This is a great movie....The Dean is Ned Beatty. The screaming teacher is Sam Kinison, and Sally Kellerman as the Poetry Class.
Sam Kinison! Comedic legend. RIP to one of the Great ones!
26:06 - The secretary in this scene is actress Edie McClurg who played Mr. Rooney's secretary in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and she was also on of the mean High School girls in the Stephen King horror movie, Carrie.
She was also the next door neighborhood in the "Hogan Family" and in "Small Wonder"
One of the best comedies that is on many lists of top comedies is “Some Like it Hot” with Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis (Jamie Lees dad) from 1959.
I'm happy for you that you get to see this. There are two jokes from this that I've been repeating for almost 40 years.
"Call me sometime, when you have no class," and "Maybe you can help me straighten out my Longfellow."
And you NEED this, after watching SE7EN.....
Kurt Vonnegut was the speaker at my college graduation, which was after this movie. 😂
19:25 - This actor is M. Emmet Walsh. He was in "The Jerk" (which I believe you two reacted to). He's been in well over 200 films and TV projects, and is still acting. He's 88 years old, going on 89 this month. I've watched Walsh in several movies over the years including "Critters", "Blade Runner" (which stars Harrison Ford), "Wildcats" (which stars Goldie Hawn, Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes, btw), "Raising Arizona", "The MIghty Quinn" (which stars Denzel Washington), "Panther" (which stars Marcus Chong of the Matrix, singer Bobby Brown, Kadeem Hardison, and Angela Bassett... to name just a smidgen of the movies of Walsh's that I've seen.
Great 80's comedy to watch is "Revenge Of The Nerds", you will love it as educators.
"BOOGER!"
Brewster's Millions 😂
Omg.. classic 80s comedy. RIP Rodney and Sam.
Swimming coach is the sniper shooting the oil cans in the movie The Jerk with Steve Martin.
He's been in a lot of things, and I can't think of even one at the moment.
Cans! He hates cans!
10:55 - Dean Martin is played by late actor Ned Beatty, who was in many classic films including "Deliverance" (1972), and Superman (1978), and Superman II (1980).
He was also John Goodman's Das in Roseanne
Not many people know this but Rodney Dangerfield did all his own stunts in this movie.
Hi guys. The guy who played Dean Martin, you may be remembering as Rudy's Dad. The diving coach has been in so many movies and TV shows. Not sure where you might remember him from. The professor who was yelling and screaming was the great stand-up Sam Kinison.
I miss you Rodney! You were the best!
"Why don't you call me sometime when you have no class." Only Rodney Dangerfield could deliver that line just right, LOL.
Three judge panel seals the deal. 10. 10. 10. Love this movie
Rodney actually did all of his own dives 💯
Chazz also played Johnny in the karate kid. Jason melon was the lead character in Christine. You can see RDJ in weird science with Anthony Micheal Hall. And both also played in Johnny be good. About a high school quarterback in a college recruiting scandal. Also starring Uma Thurman
The drummer in the house band at the bar is Cactus Moser, husband of Wynonna Judd, former drummer for country band Highway 101 and currently with wife Wynonna's band.
It was filmed here in Wisconsin at UW Madison, home of the Badgers.
Fun!! As teachers I know you would enjoy "Mr. Holland's Opus" with Richard Dreyfuss or "The Dead Poet's Society" with Robin Williams both dramas.
Legend is that Rodney visited many college campuses when deciding where to film. They decided on UW-Madison because it was the only one where he wasn't mobbed by fans when he showed up.
"She's very proud of her Klempt." "I'm proud of mine too, but you don't see me waving it around at parties." (painting by Klempt)
Burt was such an awesome actor as well, People hated him as Pauly in Rocky, but loved him in this as Lou.
A must watch Robert Downey jr movie is Less Than Zero. emotional drama at its best.
Also "The Pick-Up Artist" with him and Molly Ringwald. A other of favorite of mine is the lesser known film "Tough Turf" with James Spader, Robert Downey Jr. And Kim Richards. "Weird Science" and "Chances Are".
@@seanswinton6242 A small correction...it's actually spelled "Tuff".
Rodney's first 80s movie was "Easy Money". Really really funny. Jason the son (Keith Gordon) is the lead in the Steven King horror movie "Christine".

The band playing in the movie is a real band - Oingo Boingo. The lead singer in real life is Danny Elfman!
Our friend Butch is in this movie. He played the blonde student in a couple of scenes. He passed away about 10 yrs ago. A really nice guy, this movie reminds me of him.
So glad you watched this. I can quote every line in this movie. So good.
Watch Easy Money.
The actor playing the son, Keith Gordon, has become quite an accomplished director of small films with big stars and prestige television series--including a lot of episodes of Dexter.
"Easy Money is another movie with Rodney Dangerfield. You will also like the title track to the movie because it's done by Billy Joel.

"Back To School" was one of all time favorite comedies ! LOVE Rodney Dangerfield !
that exam is when you are defending your work for your doctorate.
Danny Elfman's band was Oingo Boingo.... and I used to listen to them in college (80s). When Danny became a composer for movies it made my heart happy.
Rodney Dangerfield is on my Mount Rushmore of comedy.
The female love interest for Mr. Melon is played by Sally Kellerman. She was on the second ever aired episode of Star Trek with William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. It was actually the first episode shot after the original pilot. She was also the original Hot lips Houlihan in the Movie version of M.A.S.H..
My friend Dennis was Rodney's opening act for years at this time. They talked about Dennis playing the son in this film. Dennis and his wife were at Rodney's house and they went in the pool. Rodney went to take a nap and told them not to let their dog in the pool. Rodney comes back from his nap and as soon as he comes outside the dog jumps in the pool. They couldn't stop it. Rodney is livid. He says, "You're horrible people. I asked everyone." A few weeks later he fires Dennis. He went on to be George Carlin's opening act for 18 years after Rodney.
SOOO glad you finally watched this one! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 "Stripes" with Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, John Candy Judge Reinhold, Jonn Larroquette, Bill Paxton, etc should be high on the list for next 80's comedy.
