    Problematic Opinion, but... it's not like the CEO of Fenty is carrying. The products are average. Really and truly, Rihanna is carrying that brand. Her fans are the reason it's successful. The CEO doesn't really matter as long as Rihanna is the face and the models are diverse.

    • @thingsilove18

      It's because Savage doesn't seem to design or innovate the they do with Fenty. The clothing looks and feels cheap. As if she just adds her logos to mass produced garments. It's kinda sad because her being the fashion queen that she is, you would think she would have followed a more traditional format for production. But that would cost more money and time. Fast fashion is easier.

    • @beautifulblacksoul8611

      @thingsilove18 I didn't want to say it... but as a child of the lingerie world (my mother owned a lingerie boutique in my younger years), I've never felt inclined to buy her products. It gave cheap mass-produced Chinese warehouse lingerie for the street vendors. Very much fast fashion. But that's why all they need is her face to sell. Her fans do the work tbh.

      @Shanygne  17 днів тому +10

      Eh, I’m not sure just how much her face alone can carry it cause they wouldn’t have had to rebrand so quickly after the initial launch and now she’s still visibly present in the marketing but she stepped down and the designs/ppls interests in them has gone down again but their visibility hasn’t. All of her brands have great marketing/pr teams that help them a lot. It’s the quality of the products ppl be questioning 🥴🥴

      @@Shanygne it struggles WITH her face for sure because the brand itself has nothing worth purchasing over Victoria's Secret or Aerie. But it would quickly fade into non-existence without her face. Most people purchase because they like her... not the products.

    You mentioned a point about the loss of glitz and glam for the inclusive pieces and that is very similar to Barbie.
    In 2015 Barbie went through a rebrand and introduced different hair textures, skin tones, and body types. However to compensate for the diversity the clothing quality has considerably dipped. If you look at a Barbie from 2003 and the Barbies from 2017 they're miles apart.
    The fabrics are thin, designs printed on one side, and boxy/ baggy silhouettes.
    Instead of blaming corporate greed the racists will blame DEI for the dip in quality which is unfortunate.

  • @khwezik3894

    The problem with the VS 'inclusive' show or whatever; those outfits where so ill-fitting or at least the promo shots made them look that way. Whereas on Savage, the ladies may be big but the outfits fit them well and are flattering. Which is why when i want to feel sexy, i do go to Savage. I have always felt like VS was never for me. Especially as i have big boobs and their bras just never sat right and their knickers just looked like they would look better on a skinny person, even though they had my size. So even before Fenty, i would just always end up at La Senza on Intimissimi instead of VS...
    Not gonna lie though, when savage first came out, i definitely thought they were going to be on a similar wavelength to Ann Summers but at a somewhat affordable price range and a wider size range. But alas. Maybe as Savage have lost their person, they could hire the team from Ann Summers. Now that would be something!!

    I’m definitely not surprised! The child labor thing was serious with fenti, then the whole thing with the membership stealing money and wiping points off of accounts that have been with a Fenty for years, Lastly lot of the designs with Fenty can be replicated easily through Shein and Temu.
    They have an outlet store by me and because of the outrageous prices for 2 inchs of fabric, and uncomfortable bras
    And a Out of touch hairline it’s almost like she needs to go back to making music
    😭🤣⭐️
    Fenty beauty should’ve been the end!
    Fashion was A good step before people started understanding cruelty free applies to people and labor costs 😢
    The thing about escapism and beauty and economic downturns is women historically, will spend a pretty penny on simple things to feel nice.
    But damn 15-30 edge control
    $50 foundation $40 bras $50 panties
    Looking at those prices, don’t make me feel nice. It makes me feel very poor. , not demure…not mindful at all It’s not giving classy. It’s giving financially stressed.

      Eh it’s not that simple. If that was all it took savage wouldn’t have had to rebrand shortly after launching, Fenty the luxury clothing brand wouldn’t have had to shut down and Fenty hair wouldn’t have gotten so much backlash before it even launched. A celebrity being the face and having a mega fanbase like Rihanna Beyoncé etc. isnt enough to maintain a brand. Especially brands that aren’t related to where most of those fans come from.

    VS should have kept the brand as is. They sell a fantasy. It’s aspirational. VS has nice lingerie, loungewear and pajamas. They’re a classic in my opinion. There loungewear is slept on. I’ve been wearing it for years. I also love their bras and body lol mist. Yeah I’m a VS girlie. You would think Fenty or any brand would have some type of exclusivity contract for competing brand, or a non compete clause. I have never tried Savage X Fenty. I’m not into subscriptions. However, they definitely have the cool factor. But I’ve never checked it out there adds are enticing!

    I’m a hardcore Rihanna fan as a fellow Caribbean native. However, I’ve never and probably never will purchase from Savage Fenty. I purchase select fenty beauty products in makeup and skin care but I’m a Victoria Secret gworl for my undies. 5 for 25 and I can walk into the store yeah! VS has a quintessential experience of underwear shopping. Also I remember in the 90s, 2000s & early 2020s my bestie use to host watch parties for the VS show at her house and my friends would all dress up and bring goodies and have a TIMEEEEEE looking forward to the wings every year and cheering our favorite models! When Savage came in it didn’t give the same glamour and excitement for us to continue hosting those watch parties for savage instead. So we just gather for Miss Universe now.

    I definitely think that Victoria's Secret should have kept their brand as selling the fantasy. I never got why they paid attention to that criticism. Just expand to different hues (ethnicities) but tall, skinny, beautiful, serving face and can walk... that's all. That's your brand. And I'm 5 feet. I'll live. You just need to keep your brand as is. That body positivity ish was not going to be a forever thing. Beauty standards will always have a grip.

    • @LP-ct9nk
      @LP-ct9nk 18 днів тому +2

      Beauty standards might have a grip, but as younger consumers have more buying power and drive trends the stores that have a more body positive outlook are doing well. That’s aerie’s whole outlook and they’re in a more healthy and financially relevant spot than VS
      Besides body positivity isn’t just catered towards the extremes. It’s for anyone that is outside the fashion industry’s ideal of skinny, white, and conventionally attractive. In this economy people are not jumping to give money to overpriced brands whose whole market strategy “this is what we see as pretty deal with it” as evidenced by Victoria secret’s frequent sales

    • @beautifulblacksoul8611
      @beautifulblacksoul8611 18 днів тому

      @LP-ct9nk aerie is my store. I think they did diversity well and first, no shade to fenty. I do believe the person that started it was also a CEO of Victoria's Secret or in a similar role. They just knew the way to differentiate is to fully diversify.
      That being said, Victoria's Secret brand does not need to diversify beyond ethnic groups. They're a "runway" brand that is commercial. They need to keep their models as the fantasy. The most beautiful of the beauty standards from every ethnic group. Younger women defying beauty standards does not erase or remove beauty standards. They can be diverse on the website (show the style on every size) or in a commercial. But their brand should be the fantasy because they have otherwise lost what made them different. Falling into the mold doesn't make them stand out. And people understand fantasies. They can see themselves in a beautiful girl of their ethnic group. Most people just want to see their people represented. Unfortunately, they're diversifying is like a Miss Universe but featuring the average (short/plussized/unattractive) girl. People say they want to see that. They don't. Not really.

    • @nancykerrigan
      @nancykerrigan 16 днів тому +2

      Interesting you mentioned beauty standards don't change but suggest to have VS show models of different skin tones but not sizes. Skin tones, Eurocentric features were also part of the beauty standard. But that slowly changed thanks to the Black is Beautiful movement for example. Beauty standards are set by people and people change so beauty standards change as well. I'm with Shangyne, VS should've kept the models but also the sexy Angel aesthetic. Savage worked because of that. Now I never bought their items so can't speak on quality but from what I remember their marketing was on point.

    • @beautifulblacksoul8611
      @beautifulblacksoul8611 16 днів тому

      @nancykerrigan the standard of beauty did not change. Yall are confusing your isms with beauty standards. Racism ≠ beauty standards. There have always been a universal beauty standard based on ideals. Good teeth, healthy hair, symmetric face, proportioned body, smooth or clear skin etc etc.
      Being thick and being obese are too vastly different standards that some women like to blend up. But majority don't if we're being honest. Having someone from your ethnic group who meets the universal beauty standard represent you is very different from aspiring to make obesity, being short, being unattractive, having severe acne - a beauty standard.
