its not a bad game, add blood and fatalities and that would make him a truly great MK game. they introduced a lot of mechanics like meter burner attacks which carried on from then onwards for both MK games and Injustice
This is why I will never look forward to any crossover involving such different content standards: whichever one you adhere to will more than likely alienate fans of the other.
I like how when the fatalities are performed, you can still see the stage fully in the background. In future MK games, the background got so dark during fatalities that you barely see the stage anymore.
It's insane, I remember when I was a kid my dad's appendix burst before I was born so my mom suprised him with an n64 while be recovered. I was born in 96 and he pretty much raised me on that thing. The first game I ever played was mortal kombat 4 as well as mortal kombat trilogy when I was about 3 yrs old. I had all the kombat guide books, all the cardboard boxes for them. I actually have a couple old pictures of me playing it at that age. I used to play mace the dark age, bio freaks, Mario 64, mortal kombat mythologies. Now I'm 25 yrs old and have played every MK to date, have a MK jade sleeve tattooed on me, have a massive collection, etc. Its crazy when you look back at this then look at 11 or even the ps2 3d Era. I always cherish the classics.

Same here. The graphics look more thick, detailed and crisp in the arcade version. I don't see why everyone else thinks the arcade version of MK4 is terrible. The one thing that disappoints me about the arcade version is that it is the only version without Goro as a sub-boss.

lol the blue faces creeped me out as well. the living trees stage in this and mk2 used to scare the crap out of me to the point where i needed to leave the room. i think mk4's version of the stage made it much worse since the trees roared in it but only moaned in mk2. hell i had a nightmare about it. i was playing mk2 and that stage popped up and i tried to turn my snes off. i did but it kept playing the game. i even turning the tv off but it still kept playing the game. i couldn't even leave the room. the irony in all this. it's now my favorite stage. fun fact: the face on the trees in mk2 is in fact the creater Ed Boon's face. i can't remember how i learned that.

I’ll never forget Reptile’s fatality on 2:35. I vividly remember the day, as a kid, that the bot performed on me after I lost. I think it was the first one I saw on that game, since I didn’t know how to do t them.
Reptile's and Fujin's flaying fatalities traumatised me when I was about 10 years old; watching the skinned skeleton with the eyes wide open was so scary that I was afraid of them haha.
First time I've seen these. Both of Sub-Zero's fatalities are really nice and brutal in this game (I didn't know they brought back the head rip!), but my favorites have to be Reiko #1 and Quan Chi #1. They're just the right blend of gory and completely goofy that I like to see in Mortal Kombat.
This was the first MK game I was introduced to. Honestly its far from the worst, and I loved the gore in it and the wicked crazy music. The Mks after this one were when they started to become shit (before the last 2 games) The first 3 are the best though.

I used to read through it and always felt creeped out seeing the fatalities but I couldn’t stop reading.. like when Reptile eats the dudes face off .. or when scorpion turned into a scorpion and rips dude apart .. or Fujin ripping enemies skin off.. Christ
