My boyfriend was in this, he’s with the guy that says “smokin!” They premiered this intro with the movie French Kiss. We got to get whatever we wanted from the concession stand for free, I was soooooo impressed.
This was the theater intro used at Harkins Theatres in 1995-96. I just moved from San Francisco to Phoenix in 1995. Back in San Francisco, most of the theaters I went to were owned by AMC. This was my first Harkins Theatre experience since moving to Phoenix in 1995 and, to be honest, it was one of the first of many things I experienced that led me to believe leaving San Francisco for Phoenix was the wrong decision. Even for 1995, this was one of the corniest and out-of-date intros I've ever seen. Many of the personalities you see in the intro were news anchors for Phoenix NBC affiliate KPNX Channel 12 at that time. That station was owned by Gannett at that time, the same company that owns USA Today and had also owned the local paper The Arizona Republic. The station was not owned by NBC. It was intended to be a shameless plug for the news station. I seriously thought the intro was really square. Anyway, I left Phoenix for SoCal in 2009. The people in that intro were real nerds and not the Silicon Valley kind, I'm talking about the opposite of cool.
There's another trailer for Harkins Theaters that is a hybrid of live action and CGI concession stand items that we saw at Midway Drive-In from 2006-2009. Can somebody find that trailer online?
Anyone remember the Harkins pre-movie film with the obnoxious blond guy talking during a movie and finally a cowboy shoots his popcorn and tells him to shut up?
When going to the movies felt magical.
this looks like the 10th level of hell.

0:30 It's the "Fantasia" poster in the background.
You're right! Must've been re-released in 1995 for the 55th anniversary!
I also saw Braveheart in the background.
we need more policy trailers like this
Got to love Cinema Paradiso being spoofed the entire video with the music and some of the people lol
Wow, lots of theaters had THX back then. Act III and now Harkins!
If only someone recorded a THX trailer back then....
what has 12 news got to do with Harkins Theaters? One of the most bizarre things I've seen.
I have a Harkins Theater in Southlake, TX.
Something tells me this was shot in Phoenix, Arizona, right?
Yea
@@willyperez2475 Yup!
The end says it: NBC News 12, a news station in Phoenix, AZ
